  1. Hi machan..wish you a Happy B'day..
  2. make sure the rubber beading between the windscreen and the plastic cover thing underneath the wipers is in good condition. If water leaks through that for a long time it could form rust around the lower part of the windscreen which would everntually lead to water leaks..
  3. take it to a good wheel alignment joint, they'd fix it up..
  4. +1
  5. Stafford Motors still carry all the spare parts for EGs. Some parts are actually cheaper at the dealer compared to some outside shops.
  6. You dont really have to put new jets in to get more fuel in. Simply take it to a good tuner and adjusting the carbs. You would have to get the balance just right though. Otherwise the car would inject more fuel that what is needed at high rpms which would lead to black smoke and poor fuel economy. To tune it properly you'd have to get the reading from the O2 sensor and connect it to an air/fuel ratio gauge. This is how mine was tuned back then. However, the dual carb setups in the EGs are very complex with loads of vacuum lines and sensors. And some SL mechanics tend to block these lines assuming that it would improve fuel efficiency, etc. Have everything checked before you get it tuned. And also, don't forget to check the condition of the ignition coil. When mine was tuned back then, we couldn't get the A/F ratio right at high rmps. That was after a full clean up of the two carbs. Later we found out that the ignition coil was not giving a strong power supply to the spark plugs. Changed that and then everything was perfect. And the other this with these carbs is that to keep them in a very good tune you'd need regular tuning. As others have also mentioned, carbs don't adjust themselves based on sensor inputs. So you'd have to do the adjustments for them.If you are really interested in increasing performance, pls check the basics first and make sure everything is in proper order and in good working condition. And then work your way up from there...good luck:)
  7. as chris also said in his post, your service interval can vary significantly based on variety of factors. Driving style, environmental conditions, driving distance, traffic conditions, type of the engine etc..so can't really give you a straight forward answer
  8. It's alright to use mineral oil as long as you change it at the right time.
  9. You should have stayed with the original setup. A good tune is all you need to make it fast. Carbs might not respond to performance mods like an efi car. A pic of your engine bay would help. Your issue could be something to do with the length of all the piping or the diameter of them. If i were you i'd think twice before going down the modifying path with a dual carb Have had one in SL for 3 years and still use one here as the second car, so taking with quite a bit of experience here.
  10. nope no issue. Have used it for more than 3 years..
  11. It should be the XHP then. Mobil super XHP is not a fully synthetic motor oil. 10-12K km shouldn't be a problem at all with fully syn. Here most of the dealers use oil such as castrol magnatec, which is not a fully syn.,on b'new cars and recommend service intervals of 10000kms. Driving conditions are very different though..
  12. you beat me to it.. I was about to ask the same question? In most of the cars chassis number is clearly engraved in a metal plate. So it is not that hard for anyone to have a quick glance at it..
  13. Are you by any chance using Mobil Super XHP?
  14. Spot on. I was actually gonna post asking the mods to put a stop to this thread as this was going a bit too far. Seeing comments about parents, etc is not very decent in what is called a family forum. However, having said that, I have to totally agree with what Dilesh and you on this. For reasons I don’t like to comment on, sylvi has some sort of a mental disorder that makes him want to post some BS in each and every thread that might actually add some value to the forum. When he is getting bashed from every possible direction, then comes the weed smoking donkey lion for the rescue. Where the hell did he come from after all this time? Looks to me like some constructive attempt to bring the value of AL down by making the members to focus their time and attention on these BS threads which they would otherwise use on something which really adds value. It's a pity that mods can't ban anyone on the grounds of stupidity and providing misleading information. No one is perfect and people make mistakes, but I have never seen anyone as stupid and as stubborn as sylvi in my entire life..(Was going to use some other words, but...)
  15. ah my bad for not reading the whole thing before hitting the reply button ..Sylvi disease is spreading fast i guess:lol:

  20. So they give it a new LSD, add some aero bits and call it Mugen Civic in the UK ...what a waste of time & money. Even the standard ones that come here have LSDs on them. And for 38K you can get your hands on a serious performer than this FF civic.
  21. This is normal after a radiator flush and a refill. When you drain a radiator and if you do it properly according to what is mentioned in the service manual, most of the water in water lines and the engine itself comes out. And at the refill stage you only pour water into the radiator and you are unable to force water into empty water lines. Once the engine is started water pump will pump water through the whole system and fill up all the water lines, etc that were empty after the drain. As result the radiator water level would go down and to compensate for this it would take more water from the water reservoir. This could be the reason why you don’t see any water in the reservoir. Fill it up to the top mark with the correct combination of water and coolant and use the car for a day (this should give it enough cooling down and heating up cycles). You might have to do this once or twice and then you’d be fine. If the problem continues, take it back. There could be a coolant leak somewhere.
  22. Have to agree with Hammond on this one. Don't really like the old Porsches much. Oh and I don't think most of the people who voted for Clarkson were being very honest. Most pople just tend to nod their heads to whatever the BS Clarkson says.
  23. hey congrats machan..nice looking car
