  1. I had a bad experience with them. they are, - noisy (remember everything is inside the room) - exhaust pipe is about 6" in diameter and you need to find a way to pass it outside somehow. - although it'll use some of the waste water to cool the compressor, with our humidity levels you probably need to keep a bucket handy.
  2. Few days back I replaced old LG 12k with a Mitsubishi 13k inverter unit. This is my 1st Mitsubishi and I must say Its far better than LG in many ways and much less noise. I can't compare power consumption as old one was non inverter type. Main reason for me to choose Mitsubishi because of its agent (Abans) and their good after sale service. I have 5 other units (2 x 30 k, 1x 18 k, 2 x 12 k) all LG and never had a problem with service/breakdowns. Panasonic units also very good and efficient with their ECONAVI technology but I did not want a different agent for that 1 unit only. Also I think most Panasonic units are sold and installed/service by sub contractors which could be a problem after some time. Lot of web marketing companies also sell units very cheap but I have no idea how is their warranty/after sales service. Norm is 5 year warranty for the compressor plus 1 year for rest of the unit including 3 free services. But Ive got 5 +2 as its the promotional season now. It's better if you can go for inverter type but I suggest inverter type for at least units which expect heavy useage such as master bedroom. Additional advantage of inverter type apart from less power consumption is minimum temperature variation which is more comfy. 1) price difference between 12k inverter - non inverter is about 25 to 30 k. Depending on your usage you have to decide which type is most economical for you. Mind you, spare parts such as PCB for inverter type is few times expensive than normal type. 2) Mitsubishi from Abans. I have a contact too if you are interested. although he can't do anything for the company prices he'll certainly speed up things for you. This is the best time for you project because almost all dealers are giving discounts. Also very good deals for some credit cards. So good luck and keep us posted.

    Nissan Presea

So much desperation I thought 'till death do us part'...
  4. No hats/hoods policy is already implemented in many banks isn't it? At least the notices in place I've seen. But in some places security guards are assisting with photocoping, helping customers to fill in forms etc..basically everything else except security and not much choice when robbers are already inside.Recently I've walk in to a remote ATM in front of the SLIT wearing a cap. The small speaker just above immediately started creaming 'thoppiya galawanda'. I did not bother initially but the voice became louder and louder so I had to remove my cap. I guess those places without security guards are being monitored remortly (for ATMs security?).
  5. Class W1 & W2. They were regular for our school train. Very seldom we had M6 & M7 which we liked better than W class because they were faster. Then there's air-conditioned hitachi train S5 too. For those who're interested there's a railway museum at Kadugannawa where you actually can discover few engine models together with other Sri Lankan railway memorabilia.
  6. Will not work with just 1 cap, You'll probably going to need few resistors as well. For 12 v 10 w bulb 47000uF capacitor will be enough for 2-3 seconds. Larger capacitor will increase the fading time. Good luck & keep us posted!
  7. There's a Volkswagen manufacturing facility in India. Not sure why they want to invest in SL as well.
  8. Assuming you are from Kandy, I can recommend Viskam motors at Kohombiliwela, from Matale about 2 km towards Kandy (Kandy -Matale road). Very satisfactory workmanship and I personally know many happy customers including myself. They handle insuarance stuff as well.
  9. I also tried once, but not very successful. Technically you can do it with modifications but after those modifications you'll have a badly design Inverter with lot of limitations. Why not use a proper inverter with suitable battery capacity? If you need extra back up power only for you CCTV system go for a larger UPS. My 8 ch sys run for about 30 mins with smallest (600 VA) UPS without its monitor. Answer to you question about heating - both UPS as well as Inverters generate heat but since UPS is designed for shorter operation it is designed to withstand that much heat only. Usually in a inverter there are cooling fan/fans with heat sinks apart from PCB design to handle more heat for longer periods.
  10. Prius and Europian spec Outlander too. Probably more manufacturers already in to it.
  11. Prius and Europian spec Outlander too. Probably more manufacturers already in to it.
  12. May be on the 2nd hand market. Not many countries importing Jap 2nd hand. I know there are some shipments to Eastern Europeian countries but they prefer europeian second hand vehicals overland. Africa gets near scrap from all over. Midle east / Arabia prefer American second hand. Let me check withmy colleague who is an industry veteran, just for info.
  13. Prius PHV use about 4 units per full charge returning 27 Kms in EV mode largely depend on driving conditions. I wonder how Leaf going to be economical with our tariffs unless RRokz's commercial electrical line is FoC. My Smart idea was to use a hybrid with a Net Metering system. Net metering is up and running now but Ravi K outsmart me on the 29th .
  14. Try to get a quote from 'cup'ruka global. I find their shipping and handling fee is reasonable but customs duty is about 10% higher. For me it's acceptable as delivery up to your door step plus no need to worry about clearing and bureaucracy.
  15. That's what is available at A*W, mostly for suspension, steering and break parts. Replaced my break liners, pads, lower arms, break cylinder assembly all Suzuki/Maruti OEM but made in India intended for Maruti models. Complete steering rack from Japan as Swift part from India is not compatible with Cruze. Swift CV joints are matching but can't use as Cruze ABS toothed wheel is not fitting it. Absurd I know... Same engine as Swift so parts are not a problem I suppose but I never had a engine issue during 8 years of use of vehicle.
  16. M13A, common to Swift, Jimny etc.. It's HR51S and some parts differ to Swift, in my case whatever I needed. Sometimes there are compatible Indian Suzuki parts too.
  17. Finding correct inner joints for this model is not going to be easy. Let us know the details if you find them.
  18. Why don't you get them tested by a machine, which cost less than 1000? And how old are they? anyway after few years of driving in SL roads you can't expect them to be efficient anymore. KYB from TA*S cost about 6000 for rear & 15000 for front about 2 years back. 85K is way too expensive me think. With second hand shocks you'll probably waste more time & money.
  19. mmm... never seen a modern vehicle despite place is huge. mostly old diesel vehicles, tinkering / painting jobs they do ne? most of them belong to government or estates. I would think twice. For electric/engine jobs I can highly recommend Mr. ######## (Sunshine Motors - Katu'thota. 0777807640). Not exactly in Matale but worth going there.
  20. My brother in law ordered a car sometime ago ( no sure when) & he's been told delivery of the vehicle will be in mid April. Suddenly he got a call from Un*mo early this week (Monday) & informed his car has arrived & will be ready to collect during next week. Now he's struggling to collect funds in a short notice but obviously he's a happy bunny.
  21. Why don't you install 'Office for Mac'? 'Home & student' is about 12k & 'Home & Business' is about 20 k at Future World. Cheaper If you buy your Mac from them. http://www.microsoft.com/mac/buy
  22. Recycling crap was only $6. Actual price of the Machine was $1299. Rest everything ($119) were taxes. Yeah I see now, without taxes, US is cheaper than Singapore.
  23. Aban*s also do Apple products. There was a full page advertisement including prices on last Sunday paper, not sure which one. All Apple products are over priced, IMO, not just here but anywhere in the world. Mine is a 13' Mac-book Air bought about 6 months ago. I paid $1418 including California recycling fees etc... Singapore is one of the cheapest place to buy Apple products, even Cheaper than US if you compare prices on the net. You might need Windows office for Mac, which is starting from 12k lkr. You can do everything much easier & better than PC with Apple, if you know how to do it. I'm still learning & so far I'm very happy about my decisions to go for Apple. Better compare prices with everyone, as when I checked before I bought mine, there was about 10k-15k difference between re-sellers in SL. I wouldn't compare Apple with a PC, as they are two different kind of breeds.
