+++++There was a guy who was quoted nearly a million from TL for a replacement Toyota CVT (AL threads)
Most all agents get one part as a service item,.. The entire transmission.
Classic example. BMW. Their auto trannies are made by another company,..and no dealer or user service items are there than a complete unit. so if there is a prob with a trans, they just replace it. it's not being able to fix the prob but the owner getting a a heart-attak upon seeing the estimate,..
I recall back in the 90's almost all car dealers in SL were not allowed to import auto trans equipped vehicles by the manufacturers. Reasons sighted as " Incompatible local operating conditions" ( You may have been too young to remember.)
I'm happy to see that a few independent specialists have popped up for auto boxes in the island . When it comes to failures even a manual was also seen in the threads,..It all boils down to usage Maintenance, or the lack of it.
Before asking some one to get a brain to use your own to start with. the original comments made were to help the writer of the thread to make an informed decision.and not to throw the poor guy's finances down the drain,.. I'm sure if we could afford it, We'll all drive something better.
This is why the local auto industry is what it is.we don't even know how to maintain a car, let alone make one.
