U got a Rottweiler?
-
Been there. The insurance companies took a great step in curbing the demand though. They specifically required the owners replace with new spares (could be done as the thieves only stole the mirror, not the mirror assembly). No one to buy the mirrors, diminished the demand and hence the chances of selling the loot.

As to why, clearly the performance (horsepower and torque) and the fuel mileage suffered significantly from engaging the emission control routines and hardware. VW has been promising and investing heavily on great performing diesels and very efficient mileage as selling points. But they couldn't meet emissions at the same time - it was a trade-off.

You can call the agents and obtain an appointment for the tuneup. In case you want to check with Dhammika, call him and inquire about the possibility. You can find his number on this post: http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/3214-recomend-a-good-guy-to-tune-my-car/?hl=%2Bdhammika+%2Bfernando#entry98938

Those hairpin turns are not designed with long vehicles and vehicles with large turning radius in mind. Probably the original roads were laid out by the English tea cultivators to transport Tea and supplies over bullock kart.

It seems that the Defender driver thought that he has enough room to pass... apparently he was wrong
-
I guess its temporarily cancelled. Its the normal procedure to suspend the license until the court hearing is over in case of an accident which involve fatalities.

Agree with you 100%. Vigilante style justice would ruin things further. Its even worse when the shortcomings in the execution of justice has pushed people towards that.

I would like to believe that the bus driver might have caught off-guard. But the absolutely huge side mirrors and the elevated driving position of the TATA should have given him ample view of the Defender. I'm sure that the bus driver never checked his right mirror (they usually don't check the right) and he was caught off guard. Besides, I'm yet to meet a bus driver who gives way. My rule of thumb, if there is a vehicle overtaking and have no room on the right lane, I slow down and let them merge to my lane. Just don't want anyone to get hurt... even the a$$holes who would drive by the horn and try to overtake even when there is room in front of me. I just think "maybe they are in a hurry... a pregnant women or a patient is being rushed to the hospital'.

Maybe the bus diver had no idea of the crazy overtaking stunt, but if he let go of the throttle the lives could have been saved.
-
Err... Kavvz, aren't you invalidating your point in comment 1 with the comment 2 If the bus can push a vehicle aside because its got steel bumpers and was in competition with another, on the public road (for a few more rupees), isn't it a ironically synonymous to beating up the driver or conductor of the bus? In SL, buses are usually above the traffic laws (political or government officials are the owners). Even if they were charged with a violation, they will go on strike and the cop would be transferred. So, it is inevitable that sometimes those who violate the law will meet their match on the road, and get a good beating! Cause and effect nothing more...! You reap what you saw!

Its usually the labor that is free, unless its brand new and from the agent. But you can always ask the advertiser for more details.

Thant is strange. I used a N16 and got the engine tune-ups done at A*W many times. And every time I was rewarded with better throttle response and hence better gas-mileage. I'm not sure whether n17 share the same engine as N16, but still... losing out after an engine tune up is strange. Did they do a throttle body cleanup before the engine tune up? And how is the status of your air-filter? do you experience higher than usual RPM? Why are you not satisfied with the service of A*W? If you are not satisfied with A*W, a guess Dhammika (The place Rumesh suggested) would be the ideal person to sort out the problem. Don't forget to clean the AC intake filter as well. It makes a big difference!

Congratulations Davy.

Any idea on when they are going to open the Athurigiriya entrance? Construction seems to be completed.

I don't think he will ever be able to get them working. It will be just a BMW shell with wheels Maybe the owner is someone who thinks 'roda karakenawa nam athi ne'.

Aquaman, how can he register the car after the patrol to diesel conversion? Has RMV changed the law on 'pre-english plate' patrol to diesel conversions?

Call it my imagination... reading this thread... Frankenstein comes to mind I weep for the poor BMW. It sure as hell does not deserve that treatment.

Go for a GP5. As Matroska had said GP5 would be fun to drive. Being a Honda, it will be more practical. While it relates to personal taste, I find the styling on Aqua ugly. Especially the rear end looks so cheap. Those tail lights on Aqua... yuk! Also read this thread for the previous discussion: http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/15181-toyota-aqua-vs-honda-fit-hybrid/

I guess if you are really enviroment conscious you will not buy a hybrid: http://www.autoblog.com/2010/10/19/study-the-toyota-prius-has-a-dirty-side-after-all-manufacturi/ "There are plenty of revelations in the annual sustainability report recently released by Toyota. By and large, the company is as ecologically-minded as a multi-national corporation can be, but as we've touched on before, not everything is as squeaky clean as it could be. The Toyota Prius has earned itself as one of the greenest vehicles on the road – a perception that the company's report confirmed by detailing the fact that over its lifetime, the Prius is likely to emit much less carbon dioxide than other comparable vehicles. Unfortunately, that truth is offset a bit by the fact that the vehicle performs marginally worse than average when it comes to the emissions generated to build hybrid. Specifically, Toyota cranks out extra non-methane hydrocarbons and particulate matter, thanks specifically to the manufacturing of the car's electric motor and battery pack. Those two pieces require larger amounts of energy and materials, snagging the Prius lower than average ratings across all five manufacturing emissions categories." Many are not aware of this ugly side of the Hybrids. Even the Hybrid and Electric car sales are allowed in SL, I see no authority working in drawing strategies to dispose those battery packs when they are done! I just hope they will not allow throwing them in the landfills or the waterways. That would be much more disastrous than the pesticides overuse poisoning drinking water.

For me, this tail lamp looks like ''upside down tail lamp of Honda Fit GP5" You are correct. So, that's why it looks so familiar...
