(a) -- get a letter from him (b ) -- no need to go to the police station in a situ as in (a) ONLY, - HOWEVER its advisable to do so, if you don't trust the other party - when he says - that he is not going to the cop-shed. If he does so, he'll be at an advantage in a Court of Law.

What Is The Coolest Mobile Phone????
mirage7777 replied to Shrapnel's topic in PC and other Console Games
I'm reviving this thread - almost after 1 year --- to get your opinions on the latest phones in the market. If you see the ads these days -- you sure get confused/lost as what to purchase. So what's the best mobile phone these? [iMO just because a phone is expensive doesn't make it the best phone. I'm looking at best features : value for money - ratio] All opinions are welcome -
Thanks a lot Mr. Wijesinghe, really nice of you to have even offered. I actually do not wish to bother you - unless an adequate payment is accepted by you. I know you have offered this free and I truly appreciate it -- however I would urge you to take even a small payment. I'm out of Colombo at present - will contact you, when I return. Thanks again

You have more or less got it spot on MD. Same scenario with DD. Yes - from the place of detection - the cops have to drive the vehicle to their station and the owner can claim it. There isn't any impounding charge etc [as in some countries]-- however the ownership has to be verified, before releasing the vehicle. There needn't be a delay to release the vehicle (unless the cops needs you-know-what -to release the vehicle). Also since you have to go to Court to face both charges, and as a delay is inevitable - the vehicle will be released by the police -- without waiting for the Court case to be over.

Thanks Ripper. The charger you have described is the exact thing I want --for a vehicle which is used during the weekend only. Found that -although it has a guarantee period of 02 years --if not used daily --the charge goes after one week. Cant blame the battery I suppose

Thanks Mr. Wijesinghe -- however I don't think that'll be able to fabricate this. Thanks for the offer to help me too. Any other place to buy this - apart from R/A? Any branches of R/A?

02 cases will be filed in the relevant Magistrates' Court against the minor and the owner of the vehicle. The minor will be charged for driving without a licence and the owner will be charged for allowing his/her vehicle to be driven without a licence. There is no provision to impound the vehicle. [However confiscation of the vehicle takes place for other offences -which is not under the MTA]

Mr. Wijesinghe, from where can I get a battery charger?? Thank you

Who Is Using Highspeed Internet In Sri Lanka?
mirage7777 replied to Lalithster's topic in PC and other Console Games
Thanks Nirosha for the link. I downloaded the software --however my upload speed is soooooo slow - that the uploads failed!! The problem with my package is that - it has become slow after i exceeded the 2/3 GB monthly quota. But the slow connection offered by Dialog is not sufficient for downloading or uploading. I think the best connection is Mobitel --according to the test given above by you - Nirosha. http://www.trc.gov.l...st-results.html http://www.trc.gov.l...march-2011.html -

Who Is Using Highspeed Internet In Sri Lanka?
mirage7777 replied to Lalithster's topic in PC and other Console Games
just in the middle of uploading a 23MB video to you-tube -it has taken close to 3 hours & about 50% uploaded only!! I'm using a Dialog '690/- + taxes' package. The upload speed is barely over 20kbps!! Called tech -care ---informed me that the download speed should be 128kbps after 2 or 3 GB of downloading [not even aware of upload speed!] but even the download speed is not sufficient to access my gmail. The above is FYI only. -

I've already replied on 'cops on the street --145th post. However for convenience - i've copied the same below:- Hi Rayman, Firstly - its recommended to retain a Lawyer. The reason - as to why you should retain a lawyer might sound silly in a public forum -- however if you are curious enough to know -pls PM. Re the rest of the question - You could be charged under 2 offences. I've enumerated the charges and fines respectively. The bold letters applies to you --the rest is for the info of others. Charge 01--'Recklessly or in a dangerous manner or at a dangerous speed' --> a fine not less than one thousand five hundred rupees and not exceeding twenty fifty thousand rupees, [ and on a second conviction to a fine not less than two thousand five hundred rupees and not exceeding twenty five thousand rupees and the suspension of his driving licence, and on a third or subsequent conviction, to a fine not less than three thousand five hundred rupees and not exceeding twenty five thousand rupees and the cancellation of his driving licence or to rigorous imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months to both such fine and imprisonment.] Charge 02 -Negligently or without reasonable consideration for other persons using the highway a fine not less than one thousand five hundred rupees and not exceeding twenty five thousand rupees, and on a second conviction to a fine not less than two thousand five hundred rupees and not exceeding twenty five thousand rupees and on a third or subsequent conviction to a fine not less than three thousand five hundred rupees and not exceeding twenty five thousand rupees and the suspension of his driving licence for a period of six months.

Imo the above figures are really good - -- outstation 11km/l is almost double of what the STi does. The STi does about 7 max. But the point that stands out - as mentioned before is--> there is absolutely no point in driving a car like that- to save fuel -- as someone said - a bullock cart is a better option

Formula One Track To Be Built On Planned ‘New Port City’ Colombo By Abdul H. Azeez A Formula One track is planned for the New Port City to be constructed in the vicinity of the Colombo Port. According to the Chairman, Ports Authority, Dr. Priyath Wickrama an eight lane F1 track will “definitely” be a part of the New Port City, he said. Formula One has strict requirements for its tracks and the Sri Lankan track, if it is to be a reality, must be carefully planned if it is to be implemented in the New Port City. Currently planners are formulating ways of fitting the track in the premises of the city whilst also allowing for maximum leeway for commercial activities. Space is also a problem so a synergistic approach with commercial roads must also be adopted. F1 tracks around the globe often use sections of public roads for racing. The New Port City will set Sri Lanka up for its own city-on-the-sea akin to Palm Island and The World, Dubai. The city is to be constructed on filled land taking up the area between the Southern edge of the new Colombo South Port and the Fort Lighthouse. The total area of sea reclaimed is set to be 450 acres. ‘The New Port City Development Project will be implemented in March 2011’ said Chairman, Ports Authority, Dr. Priyath Wickrama in an exclusive interview with The Sunday Leader. The New Port City is a concept of President Mahinda Rajapaksa who was apparently inspired while out on a visit to inspect the landfill being constructed for the Colombo South port. ‘The new city is going to be well planned. Colombo unfortunately is not very well planned anymore. It was a quite well planned city during colonial times but has since become haphazard,’ said Wickrama. The initiatives for the city involves shopping complexes, hotels, office complexes, etc. There is also a marina planned for boats and other water based activities. The construction is set to begin in March 2011 with an initial budget of $450 million. The filling of the land is projected to take two years while subsequent infrastructure construction is projected to take another one and a half years. ‘The Ports Authority will call for investors to buy land for use and construction as the project gets underway’ said Wickrama adding that private sector funds will be key in ensuring that the project is completed in time. He also said that many investors both local and foreign have shown ‘a lot of interest’ in investing already. ‘The models have been constructed and feasibility studies have been done. All the expertise has been provided by us and no foreign consultants have been approached so far. The technology and knowledge needed for filling the land is sophisticated. A monorail is planned to reduce congestion in the city. Entrants will be encouraged to park their cars at the entrance and use the monorail to navigate the city,’ he said. According to Wickrama the funding will likely come from a Chinese source as some interest has already been conveyed from there. Wickrama also mentioned that bonds will be issued to raise funds in addition to private investments. ‘The Ports Authority has been financially stable but could perform much better,’ said General Manager Capt. Nihal Keppetipola, adding that a key reason for this is the foreign exchange loss suffered in the repayment of a yen loan taken for super infrastructure developments a decade ago. ‘The New Port City project more than anything else will be a massive revenue earner for the Ports Authority,’ he said. link See the comments too

Dialog Tv Test Transmission Of Discovery Turbo
mirage7777 replied to dakrazyman20's topic in News & Updates
Yes - - i thought they'll do this because of prior experience with them -- where they acted in an identical fashion. I too think that Dialog is been very unfair. When we -the customers- get the 'full package' at a certain stage - they should continue to give the 'full package' irrespective of any added channels - as we happen to be 'old' customers. Or in the alternative they can show their 'loyalty' to old customers by charging a nominal fee of - say a max of 50/-.
