Can you believe they quoted two different prices for the basic service for VW (Passat) and Audi (A4). Having the same engine, presumably same oil and filter, done at the same place. About 25% more for Audi.
  4. Some usefull information before you decide http://www.cameralabs.com/ http://www.dpreview.com/ http://www.kenrockwell.com/index.htm
  5. Prado is being offered for the permit USD 35,000/-
  6. They do
  7. I wonder why the VSA, auto braking and all other so called driver assist could not keep Humpty Vezel from toppling.
  8. Could be an issue with the battery (not properly charging) T****A L***A can do a proper diagnostic
  9. yes because they are expensive to manufacture, even the hybrids, given a uniform duty structure no body will be interested to buy them.
  10. I think the government policy is in the right track with duty only at 5% when others have to pay 92% +
  11. How can it cost over USD 25k, when in 2007 it was only USD 12.5k when I bought mine. Any way useless agent, I was so p****d off with them even before I got the vehicle for the lousy service. I don’t think I will ever buy Mitsubishi as long as they are the agents. In any case Lancer is quite old in its life now, new model is not even seen in horizon due to resource issues at Mitsubishi
  12. This is not from what is ment for SL, SL version was 1.5L (2007-2010)
  13. Pre 2010 had red colour LED display
  14. Oh no the guy who brought the car is thrilled with it. Anyway as per the manual if I can remember correct anything above 87 or 89 was ok, it said that you might experience small loss of power / economy which I did not notice. Funny thing is most of the Lancer EXs pumping 95 had to have their throttle body cleaned around 25k, in my case engine was running smooth as ever when I sold it around 40k.
  15. I had one for 3 years, and the figure is more or less what i got. I was pumping 90 octane without any issues.
  16. Mercs makes special models to be used as cabs, generally E-class, they have basic interiors, special features / goodies . bells and whistles that come with the main stream models are missing, have basic engines or engines from yester year. They are sold in bulk to taxi companies at large discounts so the cost may be 50-60% of the mainstream model.
  17. If there was a TOPGEAR Sri Lanka, we could have got all the stars to drive a round in this

    Honda Fit Gp5 Inquiry

Checked on two full tanks brim to brim got around 15.5 kmpl, city driving heavy to moderate traffic

    Fuel Efficiency

    Vehicle : Honda Fit GP5 (S) Engine Capacity : 1.5 (Hybrid) Fuel : 92 octane Km per Ltr (city/long distance) : 15-16/ 15-20
  20. I have verified this on a Corolla 141 and CRV (RM) using brim to brim on long distance and town running over a distance of over 10,000 km on both cases. In both cases it was 90-95% accurate, of cause the figures was what you really want to see, hope or what is being quoted.
  21. I drive a Honda FIT Hybrid during the week ends my wife’s car. What I have noticed is when you drive at a decent speed which sometimes necessitate overtaking so called SUVs (Prado / Montero) and Driver Cars like (BMW/ Audi/ Merc), fun JDMs (Mazda/ Lancer/ Civic) a sudden inferiority complex get in to them and they become very aggressive and try to cut you in. Sometimes I let them go if I’m with my kids, if I’m in the mood have little fun. When you have 125 bhp, ample torque at low speeds hurling only about 1200kg coupled with decent dynamics it is not difficult. So don’t think every hybrid driver is a moron.
  22. I don’t get the peddle shift in the FIT it keeps overriding me even in the sport mode, you can’t keep the engine in a high rev band and the purpose of manual shifting is lost. I drive keeping my hand at 9 & 3 and the shifters keep touching my hands which is annoying If you keep the car in sport mode let the car change gears it could be quite fun.
  23. I’ve owned, Corolla 141, Lancer EX, Driven Allion 240,260, Mazda 3, Honda Civic which could be considered mid-range. If you take out the prejudice toward hybrid out Vezel is not bad vehicle, so is Allion / Axio. It is a good everyday vehicle as Sasika has rightfully pointed out. 98% of the percentile of the people will be happy with them, they are like chicken curry but not steke. By the way in my case I opted for the Fit which is equally spacious, handles little better and about a million bucks cheaper. I think problem is not with the car but the people who drive them, driving them looking at all so called eco indicators in the dash clogging the road. If you drive them like a normal car they still return 20-25% more economy.
  24. Rs. 5.5 Mn. is decent amount of money to buy a brand new car from the agent or zero mileage Jap import, this will be the best. You can run it for 3-5 years 40-60k without any issues, routine service apart. Japanese cars give issues usually after 5-6 years and Euros / Koreans start early 3-4 years. If you don’t believe me check on any of the company maintained cars and see how many things have been attended.
  25. Toyota Allion
