Actually had no choice in the matter as most of the decent JDM now comes with these standard. What the agents bring down is crap that are designed to South Asian markets with only air bags and ABS

Peugeot 3008 - Doubtful 2nd value 2.Peugeot 2008 - Less room, 2nd value will be even worse than 3008 3. Nissan Quashqui - will get replaced soon with newer model, not enough around / not very spacious 4. Honda Civic - Good all rounder for little more you can get the CRV / not a SUV 5. Toyota CHR - Not spacious in the back / annoying rear door handle and windows

    There is no exact RON number when you say 92 it is generally (90-94) similarly 95 (93-97) so even in 92 it can be 90 or 94 depending on the stock. Modern ignition systems could adjust to these changes up to certain threshold. Issue comes in when you exceed the threshold and engine start knock which is bad. JDM cars imported to SL are happy with 92 as they are designed to run on "Regular" Japanese fuel. Any one pumping 95 is just burning their money for nothing.

    Those Toyota vans go on forever. I could still see 30 year old on the road on school / office transport. My uncle has a 1991 Liteace still in good nick and a daily driver.

    Sensible choice would be a E-Class, 5 Series or A6 when the duty you pay is same. And the Euro SUV range with 2.0L engines

    It was what they could afford, ridicules tax structure at the time was in favor of vans. You could get a Liteace or a Townace for half price of a Corolla Now vans are double the price of 1000cc Audi

    If it is one small claim less than your annual premium they will not deduct. If the cost is just to paint you may be better off doing it out of pocket. When it is not from insurance you should be able to negotiate a discount from the garage. Just give a call and clarify or your insurance agent will know.

    I have been following up in Japanese auction sites and cars that are subsequently advertised in sites and available in car sales. Most of the used ones given at low prices are category D (UK imported insurance write offs) and Auction grade R (Japanese grade for repaired) There are experts who can inspect and identify these and i believe it is worth paying few thousand rupees and get it done rather than regretting later.

    GP1 were bought for economy (perceived) by people who does high mileage and some of them were used as rentals/ taxis pre Wagon R Finding a one with less than 100k will be a challenge, look for a personal seller with full service record to justify the mileage.

    GP1 (2007-14) is old model, GP5 (2014 onward) is current model both are hybrids with significant mechanical differences, especially in the hybrid system. Google there are plenty of information In AL forum Fit mainly refers to hybrids as it is the most common derivative of the Fit in Sri Lanka
