Cheap, economical, roomy (if boot space is not a concern) Slow, terrible handling, noisy, bumpy ride

My personal experience with our family vehicles economy in Colombo traffic Wagon R Hybrid (660cc) 52+3 bhp 10 - 11 kmpl Kia Picanto (1.0L) 67 bhp 8 - 9 kmpl Corolla 141(1.6L) 105 bhp 7 -8 kmpl Honda CRV 2013 (2.0L) 150 bhp 6 - 7 kmpl Porsche Macan (2.0L) 252 bhp 6 - 7 kmpl Engine capacity, power, Turbo, Hybrid does not significantly matter in heavy traffic. If you really want to improve economy is to avoid traffic. If you leave home 15 minutes early you could improve economy by 20-25% with a corresponding saving of travel time and driving stress. Stop wining on the vehicle change your time table.

During the last 5 years traffic in Colombo has got worse. I could my average speed and the economy indicator both were getting worse. Average speed from around 18 to 12 kmph and economy from around 9 to 7 kmpl (Honda CRV 2013) Even the 1.0 L Picanto does only 8-9 Kmpl in the same commute.

kush replied to Liberty's topic in General Automotive
I thought only the hybrid and not the 1.5L -
One million difference would be the Rs. (3.6-2.3) Mn tax benefit when you buy a permit and import

Second market value for Toyota cars made in Thailand
kush replied to Liberty's topic in General Automotive
This B**l S**t applies only to Toyota i suppose, does anybody cares where the Euro brands are manufactured BMWs from USA, South Africa, India Audis from Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Mexico Mercs from USA, South Africa, India for all i know only fraction of the vehicles are made in Germany New CRV and Civic is manufactured in Thailand and it has not stopped people queuing and buying them like mad, now the same model is introduced in Japan and our morons are trying to buy the same car at a premium thinking it is made in Japan. As far as i know it will be the hybrid that will be assembled in Japan not the 1.5 L -
You need to add around JPY 250k for freight/ insurance/ handling charges plus another Rs. 100-200k for the local guy and clearing etc.. You are correct you should be able to get it for less than Rs. 3.5 Mn. Best is to get the breakdown of the cost.
-
It is not a very good deal considering you could get the face lift with the new engine and features with agents warranty for 5 years for Rs. 9.6 Mn. (or may be for Rs. 8.5 Mn. in the event categorized as hybrid)

I have driven the Vezel there is not much difference with the other Japs mentioned when it comes to driving pleasure. It is a very roomy comfortable family ride

must if you do not have 100-120 mm of tire wall

Second market value for Toyota cars made in Thailand
kush replied to Liberty's topic in General Automotive
Most of the cars sold in Japan are manufactured out side Japan Even the cars assembled in Japan parts are from out side mostly Thailand, China, Taiwan, India etc.. Some are misled by the vehicle importers that the vehicles are manufactured in Japan but they are in fact vehicles manufactured out side for Japanese market. Toyota Thailand makes quality vehicles i have not noticed any difference in the quality of Japanese assembled and Thailand manufactured taking with my personal experience on the Corolla 141 which initially came from Japan and subsequently Thailand. Features of the car will differ as they are customized for a particular market to meet regulation and customer preferences. -
I have a issue with this company as well, they insist that my Picanto needs a oil change every 5000 km where as the service book recommends change every 10000 km. This car is driven 100 km daily and is driven partly on express way and on good roads with moderate traffic and does not meet with any of the criterion for severe use or hash conditions. Car is serviced every other month just to keep the warranty which is a utter waste of time and money

May be 1st is reserved for full throttle starts and mild off road Does this happen in manual mode too what does your car manual says
-
There are number of youtube on DSG on what is positive/ negative, how to drive optimally, what not to do avoid damage to cluch Behavior of the unit will also depend on the manufacturer too having experience the Honda and the Porsche Honda is best kept in auto and the peddle shift was a nice decoration where as PDK on the Porsche is a delight to drive in manual You need to be careful if using in heavy stop start traffic to avoid straining the clutch

Engine oil for 2017 Suzuki Swift RS Hybrid
kush replied to Imal Shanaka's topic in General Automotive
0w-20 is recommended available in Toyota, Mobil If you use syntactic can go up to 10K or 1 year -
Just did the 1000km service on the Wagon R Premium (A*W import) basically a FZ without safety Having owned a new Picanto for the last 14 months with 25k km on the clock here is my take on both vehicles Picanto has a solid feel to it, it feels heavy, planted to the road when you drive better handling car if you want to drive spiritedly. It also has a very comfortable ride. Seats are firm but very supportive and comfortable. It feels a bigger car than actually is. Downside rear leg room limited will be a issue for adults in the back for long trips, fuel economy 9-10 kmpl city, 14-15 kmpl out, manual a/c is a pain to adjust for comfort. Wagon R in the other hand is very spacious, rear seat can be moved forward/ backward for compromise between boot space and rear leg room. In fact it has more rear leg room than a CRV at the rear most position. No central console in the front you can use either door to get down, a plus when you want to park. 650 cc is a pain when you want to overtake and going on inclines, i feel it is more to do with the CVT rather than the engine. Does not encourage spirited driving at all better below 50-60 kmph, not very stable at high speeds and on cross winds may be due to height. Feel very light weight specially when you close doors, needs a fairly hard thump to get it to close properly. Audio system (Pioneer in my case, mid range) is better than the Chinese crap Kia gives. Climate control a/c is very powerful and very comfortable in all weathers Fuel 12-14kmpl city 18-20 kmpl out is a substantial saving if your are doing high miles Kia insist on old change and service every 5000 km which is around Rs. 10K, Wagon R every 10k with inspection every 5k

Vehicle manufacture year mentioned in the seat belt
kush replied to ThushanthaSrimal's question in General
Year in the seat belt is the manufactured year for the belt not necessary the car Your car belt could have been replaced by an old belt, check the other belts as well There are VIN decoders freely available in the net which can give you basic information You can check with the agent if you want to be sure. If you have already purchased the vehicle what is the use. -
95 is better quality than 92 is a misconception, both go through quality checks. You need to be more concern on the fuel station as some of them are known to rig pumps and also mix Kerosene. If the condition of the tanks are bad they can get contaminated with water and rust particles, as they are made of steel and are underground. As for Euros they are designed to run on Premium needs 98 otherwise they are happy to run on Super which is 95.

Toyota Caldina vs Elephant Back vs Nissan Avenir (Diesel)
kush replied to chamath1's question in Car Buying Information
Better car and features i would say Considering the age i would stay away as sourcing spare parts could be a issue -
It will be not straight forward delkanda will mostly have Japs. You will need to match the diameter of the wheel, diameter of the center hole, off set and PCD Jap wheels may not fit I have a similar issue with my car spare will cost in excess of Rs.50k even used not worth I keep a tire repair kit which are freely available cost like Rs.1,000/- same you get in the tire shops and do a DIY as most of the time it will be a nail. Some times you don't even have to remove the tire. Hope your car came with the Jack and the wheel bracer, mine didn't only the liquid and the pump.

Toyota Caldina vs Elephant Back vs Nissan Avenir (Diesel)
kush replied to chamath1's question in Car Buying Information
Parts were no issue most of them were shared with the Corolla (Elephant back as they say) Traveled all over the country, acceleration is not that great due to low power an 3 speed auto Economy was around 10kmpl city and 16-18 kmpl outstation, however city traffic was not this bad and outstation roads were not so great so figures may be different now. Did not do any major repairs during my tenor only shocks and one CV joint -
Toyota Caldina vs Elephant Back vs Nissan Avenir (Diesel)
kush replied to chamath1's question in Car Buying Information
If you don't mind the looks go for the Caldina got acres of space good loading capacity Suggest the non turbo although slow will be more reliable considering the age and plenty around Had one for 18 years, over 250k km without any major repair Real work horse was very handy when i was constructing my house.
