yeah true.. but its really hard to resist the temptation sometimes.. u know its a like one of those anoying mosquitoes that just flies above ur head but doest not sting u.. u still feel like squating the bugger since he is annoying...
well dont know much about the gear box issue..but the AC might not be because of the ECU.. have they checked the AC idle mechnisum.. its usually a step up motor or a vaccum advance.
oh i see mr sadunJ is back... poor maruti man.. that poor little thing wouldnt have survied that.. hopefully he didnt break an axel or something..
and for our sadunJ u would be worrying dude if ya tire got the same treatment....
the country is like this because of idiots like in the RDA...

yes batta van is a NO NO... but machang shame about yout GT man... i would have loved to get my hands on one.. did u have the second generation one with the HID's lamps or the previous one.. anywayz u cant compare the two rides.. plus since it was a GT u cant possibly expect as much as a normal starlet.. but still u should have been able to get at least 12 to 13 km per liter with very low boost and modest driving... i am sure this would have been possible..
yes the car is dependable as someone says if looked after properly which i am sure u will do.. the price seems very fair to me again have to check the condition. u could proberbly bargain as sadly FORD's havent taken off in SL and as a MFOC member this is indeed heart breaking.. parts wise ur normal day to day running repairs can be done quite easily and parts are avalalble... however some orginal parts costs a little more than ur average toyota or a nissan might cost.. but then again its a FORD
engine wise its quite hardy...
so go for it
see man.. never under estimate what u have... we are lucky to own at least what we have...
check this out if i had the money what i could do to my 1990 astina.

now thats sweet.. completely looks stock from outside...
hmmm... wider tires pehaps if u have the money for the extra fuel and tires... hmm.... wish we could do projects like people in first world countries... we still can but dont have the "greens" to do it i guesss.
i say get a second opinion as well.. i have an astina.. and i had the same starting problem.. she was not firing at all. but the engine was turning over... everyone thought it was the ECU... but finally it was a just bad wiring from the ECU to the distributer.... these lines get oxidesied with time and refuse to send signals acorss somtimes.. just my two cents on the matter.. and by the way my car is 18 years old now....
unless u are sure the guy is an expert i dont recomened fixing up the ECU as u never know other ripple effects it might bring.. but if the guy has the expertise and knows toyota ECU's then fixing ur own one would be better as u said before u will know what excatly went in... because once one of my friends repaored his ECU and after some time.. the car would just acclerate withoy us pressing the gas... thats scary in our roads... thought the car became KITT or something..
yes don is spot on here.. it depends on what you want and the type of car you have.. u can put a set for completly cosmetic reasons, or reasons stated by don here..
