In kawasaki ( 5 mins frm Tokyo).. my uni is in Tokyo right next to Roppongi Hills.. and i just had my lunch there now.. And there is this garage right in front of my uni.. and one day it was open and the cars were like 3 s-class limos, 1 mayback and 1 RR phantom..lol When did u come to Japan?

This is the info published on the site www.dailynews.lk KALUAGGALA: 'Leisure World' - the first Sri Lankan Park based on the theme of 'Water and Amusement' will be officially open by President Mahinda Rajapakse on Monday, March 27 in Kaluaggala. The Park managed by the Leisure World Water Parks (Pvt) Ltd., will be open to the public from April 2. The 'Leisure World', covers around 52 acres of beautiful land and consists of four main areas, built to provide entertainment and amusement to the public. Located in Kaluaggala, the park consists of 28 activities. For the first time in Sri Lanka, water related activities like a 'wave pool' -a man made pool with waves like in the ocean, Octopus-an octopus shaped water ride-which could be cruised on boats and other activities will be introduced to Sri Lanka. A super-fast 'Green Worm Coaster', a 'Log Flume Swing Around' where people board a log and get to slide in high speed on a water filled slip board, a Pirate Ship, a UFO and a Space Ship are some of the main amusements in the park. The Park which is also environmentally friendly will have a special 'Toddlers' Play Area' and man-made Rain Forest. The park will have two large air-conditioned food courts. Hmm.. are u talking abt the one they had in Speed Auto Traders in Kohuwela... If it is that then that car was externally modified as an evo and also the interior dash board was changed.. but the engine and chassis's are the same of the cedia.. since the Japanese vehicle registration card also says cedia with the cedia chassis no. CS2A - XXXXX, the customs would charge the duty for a cedia even though it luks like an evo..

Its not by appearence, the customs charge tax on cars.. its according to the Chassis code. For e.g. Subaru WRX has the chassis code GDA-XXXXXX and STI is GDB-XXXXXX therefore the duty values are different to the different chassis codes. So appearence doesn;t effect the duty..

Well one main reason for high taxes on vehicles is that, it is one of the main sources of revenue to the government , apart from tourism and other export revenues. In developed countries infact all or most businessmens pay the correct amount of income tax and the law is very strict on this. In Sri lanka, does anyone or everyone pay the correct amount of income tax?? i don;t think so. Therefore it is an indirect way by the government to collect these taxes, but however i do not know in whose pockets does this money end up in but it has been the only possible way for the govt. to do so since most businessmen's in sri lanka are very clever in hiding their actual profits and losses leaving no traces for the income tax officers to find.

The export law of motor vehicles in sing' does not state a required mileage a vehicle should be done. Therefore with any mileages could be exported. But the vehicle should be registered in singpore and used for atleast two minimum years before it can be exported. Regarding the mileage>> sl ppl should realize that jap and sgp have better public transport and most ppl who own cars usually drive on weekends rather than on weekdays. In japan the cost of parking is very high and ppl oftenly use the subway. And i have seen cars which are relatively old such as the 1999 GTR R34 i saw had only done some 12,000kms. And even in the auctions there r some cars which are even 10 yrs old hav amazingly low mileages and mileages that r manipulated r not considered for sale in the auctions since all vehicles are inspected before they r sold. Ur some what right on the sing cars but not all sing vehicles have a better market. For example the Corolla, the jap corolla has a better market in sl.

To anwser ur first ques.> yes, my dad is the owner of Ali brothers car sales ( there is only 1 showroom currently in kohuwela that is besides Park n Shop, other than that we have branches in Kandy and Peyliyagoda and in future we are most likeli to open two more showrooms). There are other showrooms such as the one in Kohuwela known as ' Ali Traders' does not belong to us. The cars made for jap domestic market are made with better quality materials, but in the case with cars from Singapore they give a more appealing look(the material is made of less quality) and with more features such as leather seats, a good cd-player with cd-loader and etc.. The reason why the civic's from Singapore are expensiver because of its extra fetures such as leather seats which are taxed by the customs. And also some Civic Vti's from Singapore come with bodykit, which the buying price is higher. I think its worth paying for the sing when u have more features. But when u compare jap corolla G and sing Corolla Gli there is a major diff.. notice the centre panel which features the AC control buttons. The one from japan has the touch buttons and from sing has the old style swithes and the interior seems to be more diff.
