  1. Yes I know what an inverter is. Electronic parts can fail too, thats why they have an MTBF rating. Have you heard of that? And a Hybrid's inverter has a liquid cooling system, thus coolant levels to maintain. You ignore that, obviously it's going to fail. Sorry you're unaware of these things.
  2. Let's test this hypothesis at the end of this year, since the earliest 2nd gens will be 10 years old by then. Of course chances are that you'll be long gone along with your "1000 tokes". The 2013 Aqua incident did not specifically state the part simply failed. Most probably the inverter failed due negligence, which means your point is moot. You neglect to maintain *any* car and it will eventually fail.
  3. Buy a Vios, they're unkillable I think.
  4. The G11 is a pretty good car. I looked at one before I bought the Vios, it has good interior appointments, like chrome door handles and extra detailing on the dashboard and center console. Plus I think it had a power drive's seat as well, although I'm sketchy on that detail. Comfort is pretty good, I believe the suspension setup is different from the N16, hence the different chassis code.
  5. Pumped a 1000 bucks worth of 92 octane from empty this morning, went to Katuanayake, back home, then to office for a 100+km journey and averaged 25kmpl and some change. Still projected 100+kms remaining #justsaying #blessed #thelhiganna #humblebrag
  6. That's a 1st gen Prius they're working on. Replacing a motor isn't a big deal, the innards of the Toyota HSD is WAY less complicated than an auto transmission. Hell, even rewinding a burn stator wouldn't be an issue.
  7. My car has a ton of various dealer and jdm stickers on the rear. any advice on how i could remove them all? I'm leaning towards isopropyl alcohol i.e. surgical spirit, but there's a better way please do share.

Ok I was told that, if a car has this green colour bola sticker, that means the car was brand new imported from japan with 0 mileage.. is that true?.. Also do you know what is this other square sticker?..These are both in my windshield...

For old cars imported until around 2007 it had the green sticker lu... I'l find someone to translate this and see what it says..

  8. They just stole the profile of the Vezel. Even the rear door handles are hidden ala Alfa Romeo 156 style. Bye bye Vezel indeed.
  9. I would totally buy a Hustler if it came in an RS trim.
  10. You have a 32- 300TDI? They only began production in the mid 90s.
  11. There are. Our company has a permit one with KG plates.
  12. Mitsubishi never made a 3.0 diesel. They have a 2.3, 2.5, 2.8 and a 3.2. The Montero Sport was first introduced to the JDM as the Mitsubishi Challeger, in 1996, which came with the same 2.8 from Pajero of the time. Apart from a few Challengers which trickled down to SL, we started getting them from 2002 onwards as the Montero sport, with a few exterior changes i.e. lights, wheels, paint schemes. I'm pretty sure the 1st gen Montero Sport was built in Thailand too, since their facilities were up at the time.
  13. Also, do you mean the pedal feel is not consistent? Like towards the bottom end does it feel more like an on/off switch?
  14. And for something complete different. Tip: read the ad carefully.
  15. This is not the first C class to catch fire. Another caught fire in the states, check it out on Jalopnik. I think there's a recall or something out on them.
  16. Both the K10 and K11 are pretty solid cars. A friend owns a K11, and even though it isn't great on fuel, serviceability and parts cost is relatively affordable.
  17. Now lower it by 20mm.
  18. Hai, my car is only doing 18.5 per liter but dealer said it wl do 22 lu. What is the problem? I am driving with no A/C and all shatters dwn also and always filling petrol to the max. Yesterday at the petrol shed I was shaking the car so much to put in more petrol and my wife asked me not to stop. Pls help.
  19. You have the choice to import the Asian version through A*W. Or had. Obviously buyers should be aware when buying a Japanese market vehicle, unless the dealer misleads them into thinking that the language can be changed, it cannot. If the buyer assumes it can be changes, well that's his problem because he hasn't done his research properly. I would think a one of the first questions posed to the dealer would be the ability to change the language. European cars have this options as it's either an EU requirement or tradition, which I'm not sure. You assume these vehicles are meant for the SL market; they're not, they're made for use only in Japan. Edit: When I bought my JDM, I did the necessary research before hand and understood what I was getting myself into, including translating the important bits of the manual into English, including what all the error messages mean (for example, shifting from P too quickly once having pressed the power button).
  20. Sri Lankans will be Sri Lankans.
  21. This is not an issue. JDM cars come in Japanese Language only.
  22. Saw a 1st gen Prius with KR plates. Any ideas on how that came about, since the blue permit et al have been unavailable for a while now. Maybe Emperor is building them? Either way I'd love to get my hands on one if under 2 million.

That would have been an emperor. Late registred (due to the famous court case) and having a 1NZ-FE transplanted on it.

The EK with the CXX plate must be a customs auctioned one. blue permits are no longer issued afaik.

The EK was a custom auction indeed

  23. You can go for a 2006 face lift. It has some goodies my 2005 didn't have, like power folding mirrors, front under seat storage, and a different head unit capable of MP3 playback. I'm not sure if variable intermittent wipers were an option for that year, but someone on this forum did that modification quite easily using a part from a Corolla 110.
  24. I've managed to scrap the bottom a few times with 5 passengers, but it's no where near as bad as my hybrid corolla though. What you have to remember is that it has stiff springs and soft shocks, a very Lotus move by them. This translates to a stiff ride below 40, but once you're doing 70+, the suspension becomes extremely compliant and the car begins to feel well planted,
