Third Time's a German! - C180 Kompressor

Yup correct, in MaleCortana's case the car is older so he can use any oil that the owners manual recommend. He should take a leaf out of your book. -

What was the oil you used? From memory the agents use Mobil/Castrol, but there are cheaper alternatives. I know for a fact that BMW uses Shell but they opened upto Liqui Moli two years ago as customers were saying too expensive. You need to get the correct spec though. It was almost half the price. Shell used to be around that 70k mark but LM was about 40k. -
I think it was me who posted this earlier. We have a green one is Sri Lanka from memory but could be more

Congratulations! These are nice cars, yes they maybe expensive to maintain but to offset that you need to use them rather than keep them garaged. On the servicing front if you were to do the normal service it shouldn't cost you 100k. I know they use synthetic oil and specific oil brands but not 100k. But hey you will service the car every 10,000kms or one year compared to your Camry. Some of those had trouble with balancing shaft dampers by the time they hit around 100,000kms. But people love these cars. Things to look out for - the switches with paint peeling off (window, AC switches) but those should be easy to find. On the spec that is a fairly standard spec, cruise control came standard with the automatic. And those are the Avantgarde model specific seats with leather on the sides and the fabric in the middle. The Elegance model had the full synthetic leather and the classical merc grille. -
Don't think it's that popular down under. Not as much as the BYD. Take the floor sir, Volvo EX30 it is

Errrmm well it could be but nope from Europe this is.

Ok then here goes, it won't be long when these start hitting Sri Lankan shores. Saw one today on the road and was thinking what the future holds these.
-
Won't be long when you won't be able to recognize these in the future. Too many brands and too many models.

That's a good one. Looks very Toyota ish but nope take a jet tour with Trump's enemy number one these days.

relieable 4wd for surfing, beach/sand access under 4m ?
Gummybr replied to wade456's question in Car Buying Information
Parts wise, generally Toyota parts should be plenty, but having owned a gen1 RAV4 I can say it's not that easy to find parts. As long as the car is properly maintained you won't have big issues to worry about. They will be ok on the beach as they are light weight. Make sure not to throttle hard then you won't get bogged down. Also air down a bit for better traction on sand. Auto to manual is dependent on the user. The RAV4 gen 1 manual you could lock the diffs to have 4wd. Where as on the auto there is no switch as such. Fuel consumption wise there won't be a massive difference. But for sure make sure the condition is good specially with the automatic gearboxes -

Hey welcome to the forums. Hope you find the information you are looking for and we will be able to help you find the correct vehicle for you. On the registration numbers Sri Lanka used letters from the alphabet in the early days and moved to letters from the word Ceylon and then in the 1950s it was changed to numbers and shri which ultimately became -. In 2000/2001 the system changed to have numbers starting from GA for all types of vehicles and it was short lived as then it was decided that cars should have one series, buses another, bikes another and so on and so forth. So in 2004/2005 cars got numbers starting from KA, buses from NA, motorbike from TA etc and when they ran out at KZ-9999 ABA replaced the car numbers. The whole English number vehicles attract a better market is a local market thing. If a vehicle has three English letters they think it will have better market as they are newer. Do your due studying in what you want and then purchase. I would have said to look at the Freelander the first gen but they are laden with issues but would have been the ideal partner for you. Not in the country right now and I have honestly not been paying attention to the market these last few months so I am not sure of the market right now. -
No GT in its name but what about one of those nice P11's that came with the neo VVL engines? The stickers and the Hyper CVT badge can make people run mad. Plus it's a nice car to have. If not the boring old P12 GT with a manual gearbox

Has a 4inch at rear and 2 at front. Sits nicely when loaded.

Yes it is the last gen Celica and my new car. So the biggest clue I left was in my profile I changed my car and the cover pic. The Prado which @iRage mentioned is my cousin's.
-
Oh you think so? I will say that you are close but still no.
-
Yup good clue, there is a bigger clue somewhere else. And the letters can't agree more it's not the traditional lettering from the manufacturer.

Not the gullwing but the hardtop and coupe. Gullwings are worth their weight in gold
-
That's a nice car. Sri Lanka has a few fortunately. Very expensive even now, the one with the weird doors are very rare

Nah they will not know what to do and tell the buyers, speak to agent if there is an issue and that they will sort them out. Have seen this throughout specially when the vehicles started becoming complicated. They make the money and wash their hands off. Nope the reason is the duty on a 1.5l hybrid or a petrol is more than the duty on a 100kW motor also you get the luxury tax benefit. Also keep in mind back in 2018/19 customs did away with the Suzuki Wagon R and Alto Hybrids and asked importers to pay the normal petrol duty. The reason was they cannot be classified as hybrids according to the HS classification. How I know this? I went to customs to iron out the issue of people paying hybrid duty on the C classes when they started coming with the 48v battery system. The guys had all he information and the conclusion was that the 48v cannot be deemed hybrid (there was a huge uproar with the dealers at the time saying it's unfair similar to the hybrid vs electric) and in the same way the Wagon R and the Alto hybrids are not hybrids as they do not have electrical propulsion and acts as a support only. I remember the wagon r would only creep forward in ev when you let go of the brake from a stand still and petrol engine would jump in as soon as you touch the accelerator. Same with the 48v system on the Mercs (now everything comes with a 48v battery)

I saw someone advertise a Nissan car with a 1000cc engine on FB.

The new Kia's look good, but am not conversant on the smaller engines. The Cerato GT is a looker so are the new Hyundai's i30N anyone? Sri Lanka won't get them fun cars feel sorry.
