HI guys, after 24 months 50K Km's later i have decided to part ways with my E200. my options are C180/200 2015-16 ish or CLA200 2018-19. CLA 200 is 1.3L engine and so many vehicles are currently put on market for sale. Can any expert give me feed back, are there any issues with the vehicle as so many are listed online for sale.

Hi all, My check engine light lit up after running about 100Km after recent service. Agents carried out a scan and said error is shown in the catalytic converter and was due to poor fuel quality, as per them about 30 vehicles came with the issue recently, They showed me photos of tar like substance clogging. error was deleted and they recommended to use an octane booster(Liquimoley) once and then a fuel tank additive injector cleaner to see if it will clear up. As per them octane boosters should not be used regularly and Eco tablets is a big no. I pumped 95 petrol throughout from IOC even during the peak of shortage, so now i think it is not possible to use Euro vehicles in Sri Lanka due to shortage of spares as well as poor fuel quality.
-
I would think that is normal. It was same with my Vezel which i used for 80K without any issue
-
Wow where do you pump fuel bro, couldn't find 95 for a month now
-
Can anyone provide any guidance on using 92 Octane on Euro turbo engines. Merc and BMW agents strictly recommend not to use 92 or Octane boosters. Will there be permanent harm to the engines. I have been pumping IOC Euro 03 for the past month.
-
I'm pumping 92 at the moment for my two Euro's it is hard to find any octane boosters other than Eco Tablets. any advise on using by experts

HI all, My E200 suddenly would not start. There was no issues with the battery or starter motor. As per D*MO this is a common issue with 2010-2011 models, around 6-7 similar vehicles has come to them for repairs. The repair cost quoted is around Rs.250K for the unit and programming. I suggested to them that they should have at least sent an SMS to the registered owners from the system giving a warning to owners to take preemptive action. Just shared in the forum if there are other owners and also any advise on the cost quoted by D*MO, it it reasonable. (Anyways i have told them to proceed with the repair)

MG, Chery, Proton vehicles to be assembled in Sri Lanka
Quiet replied to Skyonline's topic in General Automotive
I know a guy who has got orders to manufacture some parts for local assembly of motorcycles of a reputed brand. I would think there would be more such SME's if local value addition to assembly is made mandatory -
Sri Lanka CB to propose dollarized vehicle imports
Quiet replied to Skyonline's topic in General Automotive
There is a bubble in the vehicle market. Finance institutions are funding people purchasing these vehicles at exorbitant prices. The debt burden on vehicle buyers are too high and down the line when vehicle prices drop they will stop paying. These institutions are already stretched with Moratorium contracts. I would forecast a high Non performing asset ratio come March 2022 when debt moratorium end so the entire finance industry is at risk at the moment. If one company fail there will be a run on the deposits. Bit too late by CBSL i guess for corrective action. Bunch of theorists who act as if they know everything but no practical action. -

I think there is a LTV cap coming on selected vehicle models, CBSL is collecting price and LTV data for last 03 years -
Sri Lanka CB to propose dollarized vehicle imports
Quiet replied to Skyonline's topic in General Automotive
They have started collecting Vehicle values and maximum facility amounts granted for selected vehicles - Vitz, Wagon R etc with YOM 2015/16/117/18/19 from Banks and Finance companies, I think a price control on vehicles are on the way -

I would think they can sell the car at a inflated price now and get more profit

Govt. suspends motor vehicles imports for 1 year

System change -
Why not rent a ALTO or a older car temporarily. Would be the most cost effective option. No maintenance, Fuel cost only. Im also thinking of doing the same.
-
If i were you, i would maintain my existing car well wait for prices to drop
-
I still miss mine after 03 years

One word - Over supply by 2023

If you look hard you will find vehicles without open papers. I bought the E200 from the original first owner who has refused to sell under open papers for a month. Same goes with me. I sold all my cars with duly completed MTA 06 and copy sent to DMT. If they forge my signature that's a different story which i think is a common occurrence in all those open paper vehicles.

One day transfer is not a hassle. I went two weeks back and got my long overdue transfer (With penalty of course). If you go with a prior appointment and if the documents are in order i handed over at 11.30 and collected sharp at 2.0. Best would be to put a small lease (May be 10% of vehicle value.) So that the leasing company and the seller will be liable for any illegal stuff whilst all tax issues etc will also automatically get settled. There will be a stamp duty cost.

if you have any contacts visit the finance company yards. You can find some good deals. Although with present market conditions i would think that even yard-ed vehicles move out at faster pace.
