  1. Calm down dude! If you are buying a set of 4 you can get everything much cheaper, usually 33% off. If you know the dealer it'll be even cheaper. Just last week while buying a set of rims I was offered a set of potenza 205/50/16s by one dealer for 19k each. thats 12k off the autodrome list price. Anyway I'm on a budget so I'm going for maxxis MAZ1s. the neighborhood dealer is selling them to me 14850 a pop. When I told the 1st dealer I've already ordered another set for 15k each he even tried to match that price with the potenzas. He couldn't go that low. But im pretty certain I could have walked away with them at 17k a piece
  2. Guys is it true the kdh needs super diesel? I heard it starts throwing warning lights and eats up sensors when run on regular diesel
  3. Putting the gear in neutral or pressing the clutch is in no way beneficial to fuel economy. when idling the engine actually uses more fuel than when cruising. because it needs keep burning fuel to stop itself from stalling. and the air resistance will slow you down and you'll have to accelerate again to reach the cruising speed which will burn more fuel. same case when braking. you put it in neutral you are burning fuel. you brake with the engine and it doesn't need any fuel because its still turning, until the car comes to halt and it starts idling again.
  4. Aney yako you are a Sri Lankan living in Connecticut in a centrally heated house who travels frequently by airplane, eating normal food off the shelves and I'm guessing rice too at some occasions, everything that's moved around by big rigs from distant locations and sometimes foreign lands, getting electricity from an ordinary domestic socket which has a stonking great power plant at the other end that's got a 2/3 chance of being nuclear or coal powered, driving around in a Prius that claims to be green although its got all sorts of materials sourced from all over the world. all adding up to give you a carbon footprint the size of Antarctica. Honestly I'd rather take advice from a lion on how to be a vegetarian than take shit from a wannabe treehugger like you.
  5. The bentley is butt ugly. I wish car manufacturers building suvs for the first time would stop carrying so much car DNA forward. It just doesn't work.
  6. +1 With financial companies offering close to 20% on FD's again if you invest 2 million and buy something like a viva without blowing all that money on a hybrid you can more than cover up all your fuel and maintenance expenses. I honestly don't see the point of buying new expensive cars these days. everybody's got a decent car whether they are rich or poor thanks to unearthly loans. So might as well do the sensible thing by saving money and buying a house in central colombo or some local holiday destination.
  7. I highly doubt it. if they want to get the passengers out they'd cut the roof. and a car doesn't have to be cut and bud for this to happen. Its a matter of hitting a narrow enough an object at a high speed to slice a car in to two. cars aren't anyway good at dealing with this kinda of impacts sideways.
  8. I'm hooked on this version since they showed that saab film on top gear
  9. Its really hard to tell. Sometimes the airbags might not go off even in a big accident because even though the damage is high the car crumples gently enough not to exert too much force as to activate the sensors. like for instance if you crash into bank of soil or sand
  10. Machan I think you've mistaken one of his indicators for a shift light. See? he bezels broken off and the bulb and the lens are all thats there Ok mr. pedantic let me rephrase that. It was probably the 1st vehicle to get torn in half in a high speed single vehicle accident. Now go and watch some of that crash porn you like on wrecked exotics.
  11. Avoid standing water. especially when going at high speeds like on the expressway. the reason is your tyres might not be able to displace enough water to maintain good grip. another reason to maintain good thread levels. Most importantly avoid cornering fast on standing water. Stay in a low gear. don't bother cruising in top gear. shift down and keep the revs up. when something goes wrong you got enough engine braking to slow you down or provide some grip if skidding. Massage the brakes gently after driving through water. When the pads are soaked and when you hit the brakes hard not much will happen. I usually keep the brake pressed a bit with my left foot to heat them up. kinda hard to get used to it. Newer cars have automatic brake massaging systems. Avoid full blown starts at junctions or even straight lines especially in rwd vehicles and/or if you got high performance tyres. the wheels spin easily when wet or covered in mud. and for the experienced that might just be enough to have an accident.
  12. I'm sure the car was going waaay faster than 100 for the needle to still show 100 after crashing all over the place and getting torn in half. yep the rear tyres look pretty worn out which is probably what caused the car to spin. I think I'm right in saying this is the first time a car got torn in two in SL. and first crash to happen at real highway speeds.
  13. OMG! that's such helpful info, None of us here in AL have been abroad or bought a car there.
  14. not only that. did you see the recent prices? I used to get most models between 25-35 GBP. Now its around 90. with the taxes I wouldn't even dare think about it
  15. 2nd to 3rd gear in an axio? Do you even know how a cvt box works? Allow me to spoon feed this to you. your car has a CVT box, A continuously variable transmission. It has 2 gears. A regular one to get you off the line and upto around 60 when you put your foot down. The continuously variable gear is introduced after the 1st gear. I don't know how I can dumb this down. but this is the best explanation I can give you. unlike a conventional gear, where the revs change while the gear ratio stays a constant thus changing the vehicle speed, this one keeps the engine speed constant and varies the gear ratio to increase speed. So there's no 3rd gear. its the 2nd gear that will take you from 60 to 320 or so which is the mechanical top speed of this car What you are experiencing in the morning is the ecu trying to keep the revs up till the engine warms up. so at the same throttle position where you are cruising at 60 at just 1000 rpms when the engines warm, you'll be running at about 2000-3000 revs. So don't panic as this is entirely normal. And the car definitely isn't looking for a 3rd gear it doesn't have. These axio/allion owners I tell you
  16. oh ok! you are only as good as the crayons you use then
  17. I think he's just trying to show us how much he knows about cars, when he's actually only as good as the keyboard and the internet connection in front of him.
  18. Keep going to college and you'll understand. especially if you pay attention to market segmentation. and if by any chance you are implying that only the allion comes with 4wd then you are wrong again.
  19. We sure got some sad trolls in AL these days.

    1. terrabytetango

      terrabytetango

What really gets my peeve on is their inability to understand reasoning. I blame their parents.

    2. The Stig

      The Stig

And obviously the SL education system should also be thanked for breeding and nurturing such morons

  20. Sure sure. a man who compares an Allion 1.8 to a Premio 2.0 has to be spot on when it comes to calculating car prices.
  21. Oh! So now its about the price. the Premio is way better because of its price, when its actually more expensive than the allion these days. couldn't even get that right
  22. Dude you seriously need to stfu. handling in an allion or a premio? And you compare two different engined varients of what is essentially the same car except for a few cosmetic bits? and why is it that I find it so hard to believe it when you say you've used both of them?
  23. way better? by what measure may I ask?
  24. Saw a yellow one at the agents. A black one overtook me somewhere recently. was in deep thought to pay much attention to it
  25. Sure that's what they recommend. but where the hell do they sell it here? Everytime I go to stafford they try to flog 0w-30 saying they haven't got the 20.
