mate the corolla and the carina are 2 entirely different cars even though they share the same engine. if you want a big car buy the carina. and if you can do without the extra space go for the corolla. its as simple as that

thats an awesome feat for a 1.8. i doubt even i can top that the fuel gauge has to be the least accurate instrument in the car. for me its even worse cos i don't even have an analog gauge. just 8 lines of which one could disappear anywhere between 50-160 kms and they seem to go disappear faster as the tank goes empty with the dollar looking good i might invest on a scan gauge. and then i'll tell you how much of an error margin there is.

what i do is i brim the tank. set the trip meter to 0. and when im filling up again i brim the tank and divide number of kms by the number of litres pumped in. not the most accurate method. but i doubt even the trip computers are that accurate. anyways the corolla has a 50L tank trevene. and surely you and all the other corolla owners can do much better that 16km/l outside colombo.

yea i know what you mean. if he's got so much money to dump on modding his car why not turn it into a sleeper? and my point is has anyone felt you got enough power in a car? you always want more power. cos nothings ever enough. so even with a more powerful engine you'd wanna do coupla more mods

spot on mate! i find the engineering in the veyron a bit too anal. but its the exact opposite reason why i hate the SSC aero POS. cos thats just something with a big engine designed to be faster than the veyron. what most people don't understand is that the veyron is, although a bit of a handful for most of us, something that is built to be just as functional and reliable as your day to day toyota corolla, if not more. imagine your corolla having 1000 hp. it'll just fall on its side and die. and that justifies the degree of engineering that went into the veyron.

da_kool_guy please drop the cf wing. you don't need a spoiler on a civic in 1st place. and you don't need one on a street car in sl. it will only give u unnecessary downforce, downforce that you'll never use. it'll only slow u down at higher speeds and rob you off some top speed. look at gihan. even he doesnt have one on his sti and keep the a/c. no point being so hardcore when you are carrying 3 guys in the car. like think of all their weight. plus you'll need it anyways if someone like gihan turns up next to you at the lights for 400k you can probably do a b16 or h22 conversion and still have some money to spare. and remember you probably wont see any of this money when its time to sell your car again. so think again. no point in getting a car dyno'd unless you are chucking out some real aftermarket power and lots of trick ecu's to keep it going. but you can probably gain around 5hp from the filter, 10-15hp from the exhaust system and most other mods wont increase the hp rating but it'll free up rotating mass and movement of the engine which will give you great gains like better throttle response and engine braking. its not going to show up on a dyno, btw there is a dyno in sl and its in open uni nawala. but these mods will shave a noticable slice off ur 0-60 times. please try to keep the car looking stock. and this is for your own good. if you want to make a rebel statement get a piercing.

Welcome to the club mate! cold air intakes are a bit overrated. cos most people do a pretty rubbish job installing it. i could show you how to achieve nearly identical performance with an uprated panel filter and some tubing. an uprated Header is the most rewarding mod and i suggest you get a sport cat to go with it. and for the love of god please get a quiet system like hks silent power. they are pretty good at making less noisy systems in japan. if you are willing spend $800 on a throttle body i suggest you go for ITBs. they'll give you superb induction noise and non of the rice boys will be able to match it with their ghey "beat barrels" pads and rotors will cost you a lot more than that mate. and invest on some brake lines as well. goodridge is the best. Teins are a must. but don't go for edfc's cos you'll hardly ever harness their full potential unless you are on a track. just get s techs or some superwagons. and upgrade the shocks with koni adjustables. its one of the best street suspension combos available. a few things you missed, lightened pulleys (unorthodox or obx) grounding wires, lightened flywheel, quick shifter, engine torque damper, and uprated clutch and clutch lines. and possibly some vtec tuning. as for visual mods keep it as basic as you can add a tiny boot spoiler and some very subtle skirts and lip spoilers if you must. and go for some 14" steel lightweights cos trust me it'll make a difference. after you are done just wait for a rice boy to pull up next to you in his ruined honda at traffic lights cos trust me you'll love the expression on his face when you "smoke" him

now don't use too many technical terms here cos rice boy might fit one of those to his single carb civic

mate forget turbos. honda invented vtec! and vtec is better than any turbo or supercharger. you can smoke any turbo or supercharged car when the vtec kicks in. yep! so go off and buy an eg8 with a vtec engine. ask any civic driver on the stateside and they'll tell you how vtec is so much better. yeaaah! trust me mate you can save a lot of money with this. vtec rocks!

there was a white one at king of the streets II last year. it was pretty neat and tidy (there are some pics on fb but i doubt the photographer would take it too kindly if i publish them) but i suspect it was a carb model cos it was quite slow.
