  1. doubt you can call them agents but there are a few retailers who handle ARB, warn and ironman products in SL
  2. i havent seen a dealer for carryboy but im sure a day trip to kurunagala will reap some rewards
  3. whats a decent brand for fabric seats...much as i hate to admit my seats need a bit of TLC and elbow grease
  4. i been going to gunawardana for quite sometime over the year to get things fixed ive never had a problem. Engine Oil

    no
  8. 1996 didnt come with 48 numbers from what i know i might be wrong...i seen a few L numbered single cabs but never a 48 no. Was it a firebrigade vehicle or worked for the forces?
  9. whats ur budget i seen some suzuki samurai`s fixed up for some proper offroading in a few australian forums and clubs think. that and the gypsy are same in terms of size maybe you can do one up for your self again or you could go for a nissan mq 160 patrol with the SD33 engine take off the fiber hood run a roll cage and back benches for your buddies.
  10. think most of the guys have listed out what needs to be checked considering that you have run 32K on the car. Go through the car manual or the workshop manual for your car its available online for most models that will have a list of checks and services you need to do at specific intervals. I pity your car though when you buy a vehicle your responsible for the maintenance of it as well, by you not taking care of your vehicle your putting your self, passengers as well as other motorist on harms way. Think about it!
  11. Where is the OP...sounds to me like he doesnt own either one of the vehicles reading the subject, chances are our boy wants to get a cheapo and do the convert and maybe even earn a quick buck. "Shanka" if your still viewing this thread there is nothing called impossible only thing you have to factor in is the time, effort, money put in and the legality of converting a vehicle. the bigger concern is why would you even bother with something like this on a indian make where you could easily get a decent japanese 4wd with much less time, money and effort spent.

3.2. Nope there is two more options one in moratuwa and the other in pamunuwa. Both have parts with them when it comes to the X and the S types but for the XJ some parts need to be brought down either from singapore or dubai. If i know in advance some parts need replacing i get them down from england it self which is the cheaper option if not the garage brings it down and fits it.
  14. There is a guy who made a trike out of a red ducati cant remember his name on one of the local groups on fb maybe you can get some help from him or insight on how he did his build

yup he has been maintaining my car right throughout. The fellow was tied up with some work which is why i tried the forum so i could have soughted it out in colombo it self Good point learnt it the hard way on specialist forum that i can lock it with any key specific to the brand but i need the right key to unlock it...my guess is previous owner changes the locks on the door, boot and ignition and left out the glove box. thanks craved for it for over a decade before i managed to get one. Update - So the maintenance manager at my work place managed to play around and get it open i got my documents out but he wanted to check if the lock was stuck and locked it back. so for the time being the glove box is locked and cant be used but i can live with that since the documents are out. Will probably order a key barrel and see if our local chaps can adjust it to work with existing master key or get one cut. Thanks for the feedback chaps.

So i managed to lock the glove box of my car few weeks back and wanted to open it over the weekend, when i tried to open it i figured the existing key is useless and now im stuck with a locked glove box with my insurance and revenue license inside it. I tried the flat head screw driver and wiggling the key nothing seems to work. since the car is from a europian origin the key is lazor cut i presume and probably need someone one who has done this before. Any forum members have specific locksmiths you work with for a sticky situation or know someone capable of unlocking something of this sought. i dont want to take the darley road option so any suggestions you guys can give???
  19. its all relative to each person...id like a garage full of cars, 4wd`s, bikes and quads but i cant afford all of it so right now one 4wd and one sought of collectible car for the time being not forgetting the wife`s suv. if financially things improve id prob opt for few more. You need to decide if you have the money to buy and maintain an additional one if ur missus is ok with that and consider in the rest of the factors komi had suggested if it applies to you.
  20. just be mindful that the vehicle is still in its original state and that the chassis and engine numbers cross check with the book
  21. im using a 91 D21 as my daily no complaints so far lacks a bit of acceleration compared to the toyota`s maybe mine just need injectors replaced, but its less bouncy and more comfortable . Just hauled close to 600kg of rock in it last night didnt event feel it. Used a 2wd d21 from 2005 to 2011 absolute bullet proof. Only concern is check the chassis for cracks and floor boards and windscreen surrounding for rust.
  22. dont bother with places like that chances are they might cannibalize on your functioning items besides a person who will go check out a place like that will be a person who would also go through the papers and visit homes only difference is youll get less to your hand with a middleman doing what you need to do unless your cash strapped just put it on the papers and wait for it.
  23. i watched it last sunday i didnt get the urge to come out and drive like mad like when f&f initially came out. its a better story but i wanted to see more cars and bikes in action related sequence
  24. who in their right mind would even consider that option cheap junk of an excuse for a car to compete with the indian junk brought down here
  25. i managed to get tickets for sunday arvo cant wait till then
