  1. Damn! people who bought new cars recently aren't going to be too happy, not to mention car stores with old stock
  2. Well, looks like they got another customer. Fingers crossed, hope things work out well. (ps: thanks to you and everyone for your advice/suggestions)
  3. Hope you disclosed all that info to the buyer
  4. Take actual market value, multiply by 2.5
  5. Troll showed up, and did some epic trolling. Lulz all around, except for the people who are getting trolled and don't even realize it.
  6. Thanks buddy, that's pretty helpful - hopefully the traffic cops know about this and won't hassle motorists too much.
  7. Guys, is Eagle/Aviva any good, for car insurance? Got a decent quote from them and I'm considering switching - what do you think?
  8. Just peel it off. Don't worry, you can do it. All you need is opposable thumbs and basic hand eye coordination.
  9. Can anyone clarify on the tint level permitted for rear side windows / rear windscreen? I gather the earlier rule was anything is fine for rear/side, only front windscreen/ front side windows must be clear - has this changed? according to this article http://www.lbo.lk/fullstory.php?nid=110592506 this is due to the 'high level of crime'
  10. That seems to rule out 97% of motorists in Sri Lanka. This is probably a stupid question but: what are the current limits in SL? - I gather they are 59 city, 70 HWY, unless posted otherwise - is this correct?
  11. Have you considered the s90? Nice f2.0 lens, larger sensor, and as a bonus, its all black. The latest A series cam's (e.g. a3000) have good image quality also.
  12. Update: Just saw you already purchased a camera. Do share photos and let us know how it is

  14. Paint touched up, writing on windscreen erased, service/car wash, May include tires replaced (with used ones) and minor cosmetic work.
  15. practical summary is that the pedestrian is right/has right of way, you are wrong/don't have right of way. this applies to all interactions with pedestrians.

  17. If that became a law here, we'd have to declare a national holiday...
  18. guys, thank you for your replies. One problem is - I'm searching for the small portable type - not the medium sized ones (I have those) Ive got a big one and its OK for the moment (though if anyone knows where to get the small (1 liter or less) type do let me know. Again, thanks for your replies, and apologies for the rather offbeat post.
  19. Apologies if this is an odd question but - does anyone know where to get an Oxygen cylinder - not the regular hospital size - but the ultra portable type. Note, this is for humans, not cars Note: I've tried some of the major pharmacies - none seem to have them
  20. (Hope you don't mind me answering), may I recommend you try Metropolitan / Canon? You can pick up the canon A480 with warranty for about 23k or so. It is an excellent camera and I've got some remarkable results form it. @peri: speaking of canon... http://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/845602 Please do share some images from the 15-85. I'd particularly love to see a raw-converted 100% test image
  21. actually mine has a Mr. Fusion good suggestions everyone thank you all will try em all tomorrow. Wish me luck
  22. Thank you (and everyone else here) for the helpful suggestions! Will get those checked out. By the way, do all cars have ignition coils? as I don't recall seeing one in this car. Also, the weirdest thing is, tweaking the carb mixture a little tends to cure the problem! still, I will get all the electrical's checked out.
  23. I drive an old Mitsubishi with a 4G15 carb engine. Here's how the problem goes: when I start the car, it performs really well, but after using for about an hour or so, the performance drops a bit: such that I have to accelerate/rev more - for example, I have to rev to 2k to 3k RPM to get reasonable performance in gears 2 - 4 - performance with AC is particularly sluggish. (when the car is started up I can use any gear comfortably under 2k RPM). Its like the car suffers a loss of power after it is used a bit. If I pull over and leave the engine running idle, or even off for about 5 minutes, the power sometimes returns to normal. Notes: car does not overheat, engine temp management is good/radiator etc, good I got the carb serviced by a garage (or at least, they claimed they did) and various other stuff done (fuel filter, plug wires, etc) I've tried various mechanics, none seem to have any suggestions. One guy believes its something to do with vacuum or something (don't know what he means) Personally I strongly suspect it is something to do with the carb, as - if I tweak the carb, a bit (say, adjust the mixture nut a tiny bit) suddenly it works well. I remember someone here mentioning someone who fixes carbs... could someone tell me where that guy is located? also, could the problem be timing related? tweaking the timing a bit sometimes helps, but then the car slowly gets worse again.
  24. Know any local weddings coming up? I need to do some practice of wedding photography.
  25. thanks! If you don't mind me asking, have you ordered any gear through eBay / Hong Kong? How was tax/vat/duties? I've ordered a few cheap parts from China and customs charges came to almost 40 - 50% price
