  1. Do you mean to say Carina GT has two diagnostic ports? I thought 90s Toyotas had their diagnostic ports in the engine bay anyway.
  2. machan, just to clarify, how many names are there in the 'current owner ' field of the CR? is it one or two? there can be more than two transfers on the same date if a car was mortgaged. some finance companies do a triple transfer in that case so there can be 3 transfers on the same date. u can ignore that. what matters is what is in the current owner field of the CR.
  3. Try doing it with the local basses... then u will find out the reason..

  6. do u actually believe anything in elakiri? anyways whats with your attitude of b*tching anything other than japanese cars?
  7. Yes there are hundreds of Protons brought down from Singapore. Probably more recons on the road than brand new imported ones. There are few ways to identify them. 1. Cheap leather seats 2. VIN Plate of the export version of Protons will say PROTON and the Singapore/Malaysia version will have "Perusahaan Automobil Nasional" on it. and of course, the CR will say "reconditioned" on it. It may also say country of origin as "Japan" but its wrong info. Protons were never made in Japan.
  8. One problem that caused the bad reputation of Kias (and indeed Hyundais and Protons) was the fact that most of them were brought down from Singapore and they were used as rent-a-cars there. As a result, the Singapore imports were abused. Naturally they started giving trouble from day 1 in Sri Lanka. One really good Kia which I have noticed is the Cerato. Look for a 2004 or later model brand new imported one. Build quality is pretty good and its a nice car to drive. Should cost you around 1.7 - 1.8 Million
  9. Aquas are brought down by the dozen to Sri Lanka. They were initially priced higher than Prii by the used car sellers but it has taken a plunge. A third-gen unreg Prius goes for around 4.4 - 4.5 Mill nowadays whereas an Aqua goes for around 3.7-3.8. The claim of Aqua doing much better on fuel than Prius hasn't held water in Sri Lanka. Users of both say they do around 23 to the litre, so the buyers actually have no reason to go for a smaller car. Also I noticed a dip in the prices of used hybrids in Sri Lanka. 2009 Insights seem to be going at around 30-31 and Prii seem to be going at around 31-32. That's actually a depreciation of about 200k-300k for the ones who brought down these cars back in 2011.
  10. 49CC bikes were allowed to run without registration sometime ago. Perhaps it was the same story with this bike. You ought to check with RMV about the process, documents needed to do it and how much it will cost.
  11. To my knowledge, a scanning tool cannot measure the exact amount of blockage in an injector. So I am a bit confused how that 49% figure came by. A little bit of Googling revealed that Sportage uses 11-bit CAN (same as my Focus) so the cheap eBay tool should most likely work. http://www.outilsobdfacile.com/vehicle-list-compatible-obd2.php?brand=kia

    Passo Vs Vios

If the car has less km done, does it mean its a trouble-free car? I have seen cars that have done 300000+ and still run like the day it first rolled out of the factory. I have also seen cars (particularly small cars like passo, march) that have done 40k - 50k and give all kinds of noises. What you need to do is, find a well maintained car with records, if possible. AND then do all the preventive maintenance like changing engine oil, transmission oil, changing belts (if no records available)...
  13. I don't know how this 49% number came from, but if the injectors are clogged, it doesn't matter if its 49% or 65% or 24%... you just need to clean them! Secondly, you don't need a scanning tool to determine if the injectors are clogged. You will also notice misfires, rough idle and bad fuel economy etc.. However, the OBDII scanner may return a DTC code (in case of Ford Focus, it will be P0201 etc.) Even if one injector is clogged, you still have to clean all of them. Finally, injector cleaning (aka tune up) is preventive maintenance. So it's something that should be done every 10000km or so, irrespective of whether they are clogged or not.
  14. It's not too hard to find a registration book. Talk to some kaakkas in Jayantha Weerasekera Mawatha (make sure you get the document cross-checked from RMV). After that, all you need to do is engrave the numbers on to your bike.

    Passo Vs Vios

Fools like you guys, are the reason why odometer tampering is a thriving business. Go find a Passo with 30k on the clock. When the T-belt snaps, go on a tantrum like a crybaby about how the previous owner cheated you.
  16. Buy a Maruti 800 and stick a Land Cruiser badge on it. End of story.
  17. This may sound like a dumb question but why a Chaly? Didn't most of them go past their expiry date decades ago? Anyway, if you can make it to Beruwela - China Fort area, there are many Chalys in showroom condition there. Don't know how many are for sale but those are owned by manik mudalalis and they are very well maintained.
  18. Flare device for emergencies. Absolutely useless in Sri lanka and its long since expired (2000/3 is probably the expiry date of it)
  19. Octanehead is right. R-12 is CFC, which is banned in many countries. It was scheduled to be banned this year in Sri Lanka, it still hasn't come in to effect. Sooner or later it will, I guess.
  20. Fancy a car with LUXURY CURTAIN ?

  21. Your car is under warranty. RAISE HELL. Call up the top brass and scream at them...
  22. You are talking about Jayawardena Motors. I've heard of a breaker yard in Udugampola area which stocks tonnes of used Ford Escort spares. You might wanna find out about that place too.
