  1. I asked Uncle Google and he pointed me to these links http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1276889 http://www.popularmechanics.com/cars/how-to/4281039 I suggest you too, make friends with Uncle Google.

    Toyota Auris

Machan when was this reintroduced? Was there some kind of a public announcement on this?
  3. Agree that its a pretty hardy car and can take a lot of abuse. Pity about the ridiculous looks though. Do u think there are ones for 14-15? I thought they sell above 16.
  4. This must be the only country on earth where one can peddle off a 15-year old pile of metal for almost 2 million bucks.
  5. Thanks for posting this buddy. This may be useful for others too. It seems that the exporter got scared the sh*te out of him when you said you are going to make a case against the car sale and JAAI. This probably means that there is a way to complain to JAAI and JAAI takes things seriously. This probably also means that the JAAI certificate was faked or the inspectors were knobbled, which could have caused panic.
  6. Good. When the OP said: Then why do u jump in to a conclusion and say: Just to show off your 'knowledge'?
  7. Didn't VVTi say "Though the police came they said that if we are ok then they will not pursue". Doesn't this mean he has already reported to the cops?
  8. Machang, was it a 2x2-lane road with lanes clearly marked? If that is the case and if you were on the right lane, waiting to turn right, you should be ok. There is also a law about this. Were there arrows painted on the road? If its just single lane road, then it's a bit tough to use this for your favour.
  9. In the past, one company I worked for, got cars from a so-called 'reputed' car rental company in Rajagiriya area (but not the one Sylvi mentioned). These cars were mainly used for traveling to and from locations which involved civil construction. Therefore, they were subjected to all kinds of abuse. On top of that, some of the drivers were from Wanathamulla area and drove the cars like the way they drive three-wheelers. There was one incident, which I recall. I was travelling in one of those cars (an Allion) and a container truck knocked the car from behind. The driver simply ignored it and drove on, saying we can claim insurance. My point is, even if you want to give your car for rent to a 'reputed' company, please get a driver yourself like others said. If you love your car, please don't rent it out.
  10. Is Rajagiriya tours, the only car rental company in Rajagiriya?

    Wheel Alignment ?

There are couple of places in Malay Street - Slave Island. I've been there and the work seems ok. Computerised wheel alignment is not rocket science. They just need to follow the orders of the computer. Keep an eye on the readings to make sure they fall within the required range (ie. computer doesn't show any numbers in red).
  12. Dude if the bloke who cleaned up the injectors did a good job, do let me know the contact details as well. I'm also due for an injector clean-up and looking for a place other than the agents. BTW did he use ultrasonic to clean the injectors?
  13. Damn! U guys are good at catching trolls... and I was trying to help this guy out with my limited knowledge :action-smiley-060:
  14. I honestly don't know much about Hornets but in general, if there's a oil leak on the fork, check carefully to see if there are tiny little scratches or dents on the fork. If the fork is scratched, then u r better off without that bike. You need to replace both side oil seals and fill them with fork oil. It's been a while since I rode a bike so I don't remember how expensive fork oil is. Regarding the notification lights, u need to find out why they don't work. Is it because the bulbs are fried? or has the owner disconnected the lights because some light is always on? If its the latter, again you have to think twice about buying that bike. In case of the second one, if everything else is fine, then replacing tyres is just a one-time expense.
  15. Dude we had TV back then!!! It was all over TV...
  16. I guess u are two young to know that One Mr. Attanayake was arrested by the police back in 1990 or so and it was a much publicized event by the government at that time. There was a Lancer C12 Wagon parked on his car porch. This made some people refer to this car as 'Attanayake model'. The Attanayake person was apparently the JVP leader, Rohana Wijeweera.
  17. same car. some call it wijeweera model. some call it attanayake model.
  18. ROTFLMAO!!! Can't u find anything else to look at? Do you also worship your Prius' wheels bro?? Anyways why don't you post a few pics of the sacred wheels of YOUR Prius, with and without the caps?
  19. If you want a good condition Lancer Box, take a day off and go to Ratnapura. U will be amazed at the condition of these cars there. This was due to a superstition held by some gem businessmen that Lancer Boxes are lucky cars. http://www.autolanka.com/ad.asp?ID=46820 http://www.autolanka.com/ad.asp?ID=48886 Civics are pretty good cars but I thought they go for a higher price than your budget because of the Honda fanboys out there.
  20. You really shouldnt be playing around with the airbag control unit. But FYI, it is located between the two front seats under the handbrake lever. To access it, you need to remove the plastic console between the two seats. Two screws in front and two more are hidden between the two seats if I remember correctly. All you can probably do, is to check if the connections to it are ok. Again, if you (or your bass) need to be very very careful not to mess it up even more. If you did any work in the area which I am talking about (such as adjusting the handbrake cables or even an interior cleaning), there is a remote possibility of it affecting your airbag control unit. I really can't connect the steering rack bush replacement with airbag light coming on. Perhaps someone else might like to enlighten me on that. For the HT51S, there is no seatbelt sensor except for a cable that is wired to the seatbelt light. so that wouldn't cause the airbag light to come on.
  21. So the solution is not to wear seat belts? In a "sudden deceleration of a fast moving vehicle", do you prefer going through the windscreen instead? Let's face it... no safety system is 100% foolproof. The amount of lives saved because of seatbelts far outweighs the amount of deaths due to seatbelts. That's it. If you are still skeptic about wearing seatbelts, watch this classic:
  22. Thanks for providing us entertainment on a very boring day.
  23. No machan. I personally checked that car out. Even got a test drive. Focus is from Spain and it's the Fiesta that comes from Thailand. The build quality of Focus is pretty good compared to the Fiesta. Focus comes with a hell of a lot of options - electric sun roof, HID auto adjustable lights, headlamp washers, multifunction steering, cruise control, rain sensors, 7 airbags, climate control AC and yada yada yada. Only trouble is the car is underpowered (1.6litre engine). Nevertheless I thought that was by far the best value u can get for that price.
  24. Another member of this forum (Nirosha) went thru the pain of finding out the contact details of every agent (including Hyundai Lanka) and posting it on this for the benefit of others. All you need to do, is take your phone, dial the number and ask for the price. No. Even a 1-year old RAV4 is beyond the $25000 limit of permit vehicles.
