  1. WTF? Because you cant find PARTS you want to kill yourself? Dramatic much?
  2. Toyota 4 Runner/Hilux Surf
  3. Apparently the contaminant liquid clogs the pump itself. That was what had happened to mine. It had jammed solid. Some properly researched articles on the issue http://www.nation.lk/2011/07/03/newsfe6.htm http://www.nation.lk/2011/07/03/news6.htm Compensation promised, wonder how many years that will take lol.
  4. Ok, pumped 95 from laugfs havelock road yesterday afternoon and ran around for a bit with no issues then parked the car. This morning, once again refused to start... Thankfully after a couple of attempts it somehow started. Sent it off to the workshop to have the tank drained and cleaned. Lets see what happens now. Hopefully THIS pump is still salvageable. Looks like 95 octane is not safe either.
  5. Actually speaking from experience when it comes to Passats very low mileage is not always a good thing especially if the car is one that was used a lot in the early part of it's life and then not used much over the last few years. My car was like that and it does lead to a lot of niggling issues. These cars need to be used regularly but most importantly they need to be maintained well. Small point on the Mondeo, most sources that have tested it (magazines and websites) against the Passat tend to rate it rather higher in the fun to drive stakes. it IS considered to be a more agile and chuckable car than the Passat, which tends to understeer and show signs of body roll when you're really pressing on
  6. And you imagine a 2.0L Mondeo is going to be better? Dude if economy is that important to you go buy a Corolla 121. An Automatic Passat with the 1.8T engine is perfectly capable of delivering 8Km/L in the city if driven properly (Personal experience). The manuals do 10-11 Easy.
  7. Good lord! Do these PRI-ASSclowns grow on trees?
  8. You know for roughly the same amount of money you can get yourself a pretty decent Passat. Matches the Mondeo in pretty much every respect and the 1.8T is a nicer engine IMHO. Parts and service are considerably less of an issue than it will be for a Mondeo as there actually is a specialist VW/Audi workshop now and parts are available much more widely than ford bits.
  9. Thats funny because the very first of the ES generation were 2000 Models, at least those that were released in Sri Lanka anyway. Surprising eh? Well PKDM specs aren't really what the poster was asking were they? He's based in Sri Lanka after all... This isn't Pakwheels, its AutoLANKA.
  10. Wrong.... The VTi Models came with a CVT box
  11. The gent in question was an uncle of one of my good friends and by all accounts was supposed to be very capable and experienced behind the wheel (unlike the previous instance of expensive car crashing through inanimate object that we saw on the forum). Since he was the only occupant we will never know for sure what happened but some believe that he may have fallen asleep as it was very late. Not a hell of a lot that you can do to prevent that.... Bad luck I suppose. May he Rest in Peace.
  12. Weren't you looking at BMWs not too long ago? The Mondeo is a good car but parts availability in SL is near non existent thanks to lack of agent support (DPMC were the agents when the cars were imported but they no longer have the ford agency). Also there aren't any specialists per se on the model that I know of. If you have contacts in the UK then parts wont be an issue at all as these cars are as common as corollas there.
  13. Just buy the Allion and be done with it.
  14. I Pumped the 95 "Xtra Premium" thing... but thankfully only about 10 Liters... ran a system cleaner through the tank after replacing the pump just in case.
  15. Pumped fuel on sunday at the Horton place IOC.... Fuel pump packed up monday morning. Thankfully mechanic had a pump on hand and replaced it that day itself. By yesterday 20 odd cars had issues apparently. Now there appears to be a shortage of VW/Audi pumps in SL and sellers are charging premiums.
  16. As usual the Central Bank makes no sense whatsoever.... WHAT are you trying to say here again? They really should enforce a rule that bans the janitors from using computers during work hours.
  17. No. "we" can't.
  18. And the AE100 that you suggested one post before is not?
  19. How many times do people have to say this, DO NOT POST ABOUT STUFF THAT YOU DON'T KNOW! Have YOU owned a Subaru? If not how can you make a statement like that? The phrase "parts are rare and expensive" is such a bloody vague statement that it's almost useless. Rare and expensive compared to knockoff Nissan parts maybe, but not compared to the genuine article. Stop misleading people.
  20. I am, believe milindu is as well...
  21. VW Passat 42.2 KM/L City and 45.5 KM/L outstation.
  22. Ford Fiesta?
  23. Im inclined to think it's the CV Joint too based on the symptoms you've mentioned. Try this, when turning put the window down and listen to see if you can hear a sort of constant ticking, "Tak Tak" kinda noise. If you do, then it's most likely the CV Joint which is the problem. Best get it checked at a good garage soon.
  24. OT If you accept that, then why would you say something retarded like this? As for the second part of your question, how the hell can you compare the driving experience of a leaf sprung 4wd diesel pickup to a euro saloon car and make a conclusion? They are poles apart and FYI, I enjoy driving both of them equally because they provide different experiences....
  25. Dude, you CAN post it on the forum. It isn't considered advertising when you're helping someone out..
