+1 Drama for dramas sake is seldom a good thing in racing. It erodes the sportsmanship aspect. F1 could do with a bit more of that.
-
The thing is,, many SL consumers are simply unaware how easy it is to hit the net and hunt up a review or two. They tend to be afraid that there is too much information to sort through.

Whats with the hamilton love? he certainly aint no saint, just a talented bloke who made his F1 debut with one of the top teams (Something not very many drivers can do) and therefore managed to put up a great performance straight off the bat. His behaviour over the last couple of seasons has been markedly DH-ish. He certainly does seem to have a sense of entitlement at the very least. As for schumi, I dont think he reallyhas anything left to prove. Even if this come back goes badly for him, his record does the talking. By most objective standards the man is the most successful Formula 1 driver of all time.

Yes, and if you'd just have waited for my response to KLM's post instead of jumping in with and going at a tangent, you would have seen that I apologized for my statement. I still dont see what this has to do with the akon business though.
-
on reflection, that was probably not the way I should have phrased it. I apologize for being inflammatory, was merely outraged at the fate of the car. I, personally am of the opinion that th elite of the arab states tend to treat their cars with disdain. As a car enthusiast, this angers me very much. Therefore when i see something like this I tend to get angry, that reply was the result of immediately replying to something in the heat of the moment. I am leaving the original post up so that later readers can see the sequence of events, but I apologize unreservedly for my comments and hereby withdraw them.

and how may I ask did you come to that conclusion? What precisely is the correlation between outrage about the fate of a rare supercar in a nation where they very obviously have no concept of the value of anything and a bunch of lunatic wingnuts in Sri Lanka throwing stones at a media institution> Think your accusations through before you make them dude, they kinda lose their effectiveness otherwise.

Before even clicking the link I guessed that this would be in one of the Arab states and I wasnt wrong. I guess to those bedsheet wearing ex camel jockeys an XJ220 is just another "Used Car" Sigh... This isnt just sad its criminal. Almost makes one wish for the day the oil runs out so those bastards can go back to their camels.

Many happy returns of the day bro!

Not everybody can afford to buy and run BMW 323is y'know having said that, the reason a lot of people buy these things is inexperience with cars and the old cliche that brand new cars no matter what kind they are will be somehow better than a good used car thats 5-8 years old.

Is It Legal To Sell A Car If The Owner Is Abroad?
Supra_Natural replied to Killer-B's topic in Ask for Advice
QUOTE (Killer-B @ Apr 5 2010, 09:49 PM) Thkx bro........and is the letter a must? Its not a must, but its better for long term peace of mind. -
The attitude aint appreciated bucko... with due respect to you, buying a chery QQ does not mark you out as a particularly informed purchaser, or indeed someone who likes cars very much. This being an automotive forum, you're gonna have to put up with a bit of ribbing. Be that as it may, the QQ doesnt really have anything resembling a spare parts network yet, so I'm afraid the agents really are your best bet. However, the QQ is basically a copy of the old daewoo matiz, so the parts for that car may well fit without too much of an issue. So you could try taking the original parts and do a round of the panchikawatte spare parts places, you may be able to find the right bits. Im sorry I wasnt more helpful, but the truth is the chery QQ doesnt really have a lot of parts backup in SL. Probably because the brand has not been on the market that long and chery is a new brand. It could also be because the agents have made sure other people cant get hold of parts so that they can charge what they like. Frankly speaking, an option you might want to consider is putting the car up for sale since demand is pretty high these days. Spnd the proceeds on a used starlet or a march. Or even an alto. Just as economical, much better peace of mind. And as it turns out, cheaper to run as well.

For the record, D15B is a designation used for several different motors, not only that in the ViRS. Our definitely non Vtec Jap spec ES8 automatic also has a D15B engine. So that code is no guarantee of any kind. here's a chronology of the honda D engine http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_D_engin...281.5_Liters.29

1300cc and 1200cc are the most common engine sizes the beetle came with. Most of the older beetles (pre 1966) in SL are 1200s although there were some 1300's too. The later models (after 1967) most commonly have the 1300 engine. You can pick up a decent post 1967 1300 for around 250-275k easily. That is probably the best option since they have the 12 Volt electrical system.

Thank you for your insightful and valuable contribution.

With due respect. He is looking for a trouble free runner that he can use every day. While i respect fiats, im not going to suggest a 20 + year old italian car which has been hacked several people beforehand can be described as that Gtam. My grandma had a uno 60 at the tail end of the 80's/early 90's. She bought it from the first owner who babied the car. It spent most of the year and a half she kept it either not starting or with half of its electrical system shorting out. I for one don't buy into the cliche that all italian cars are nightmares. But I have to say that Uno came pretty damn close!

Dude, go to the agents.... Upul has his fans, but there are also a few people who aren't too thrilled with him. Getting work done by him after you buy a car is one thing, but before you buy the BEST place to get it checked out is the agents, no question about it. So rearrange your schedule a bit and make some time, or book in on a saturday. Either way a small time investment now will pay dividends later on.

Many happy returns of the day Ace. have a great one and a super year ahead! All the best

Not entirely fair to make a broad statement like that. just because a couple of companies play you out doesn't mean they are all terrible. And its highly unfair to call all assesors "worthless scum" since their are quite a few who will be on your side if you get fit with them... perhaps you just dont know how to handle them? Having said that, let me add yet another compliment to Eagle/Aviva. They really and truly know how to treat a customer!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! have a great one dilesh...
-
Im guessing this was the 325i right?
-
Agree with dilesh, this was probaby an error by the person who originally wrote the number in the old book, and it would have been carried forward into the computerized form also. Same thing happened to my bug.

Did you get a mechanic to check the car before you bought it? If you dont have a lot of mechanical knowledge that is often the most sensible first step to take in the car-buying process. Since you mentioned in the first post that you aren't well-versed in the mechanical side of things, I think the best thing is to take the car to a good garage (or better yet the agents) and ask them to give it an inspection and see.

No sarcasm at all eh vvti? joking apart, Sachas own car which is a GC registered EP82 really IS awesome....
