  1. Thanks guys , I think the best thing is to stick to my old policy.
  2. You may think this is a silly question but I really want to know what you guys think about this. My first car was a FB 14 (98 model). I fell in love so much with her so that wanted to keep her clean as much as I could . I used to get the engine too washed at every service . Every time I washed the engine experienced, for sure ,there is a problem coming along with such. That could be the distributor unit, plugs, alternator unit or any other electrical part due to the water which is leaked in.How much you request them to be careful and close them properly , no use they are not loving your car as much as you are. Finally I made up my mind no engine wash For the last 4 years I don'twash the engine but only when I want to sell. My new car engine is Nissan QG 15 (blue bird syslphy 2004) and wondering whether to stick to my own policy or relax that a bit.

    Best Beauty For 1.3 M

FB 14 english number 1500 cc will cost you 1.3mn + in good condition (may be 13.5mn ) but 1300 cc (B14) can try below 1.3 mn. I doubt whether you can find anything manufactured after 99. IF can find good deal because low maintenance cost , 10 kmpl in the city and can sell in breeze. I had one and one paper advertisement sold the car in 4 hours (sunday newspaper) Good luck.
  4. Car cover is anyway not advisable .Once I learned a good lesson. I had to repaint most of it.
  5. I think we should have the courage to tell them we know the game and let's not play, in case they try to play around.I have done a couple of times.
  6. Wow .....thanks mate for the confirmation. On the same board......
  7. Good idea. Should try the next time... Thanks
  8. I had a similar issue in my previous car (Nissan FB 14) and applied a better glue cannot remember the name. It did cost me about Rs.900, but there was no use it will last only for a couple of weeks. I tried to repair but the ASK PRICE WAS Rs.7000. Finally I replaced the radiator at a cost of only Rs.8,000 (good quality ) from Dehiwala well known place (Hill street) .and it worked perfectly fine until I sold it. The best thing is to replace. Repair doesn't make sense.
  9. I don't know how many of you will agree with me BUT OPEN FOR COMMETS ...but my true experinece is that some fuel station pumps are cooked big time. I arrived at this conclision is based on my own experience. I used to re-fill my tank full from the F.station near by St,Brixxx COLLEGE , colombo (IOX). on every friday on my way home. The cost was ranging from 4500 ruppes to 5000 on average. But one day , I happened to pump fuel from LAUGFS at Koswata (between Battaramulla and Malabe) and realised it was just 3900 rupees. It was a shock since I did the same milage on average taht week and there was no reason for such a reduction. I tried the next time and so on. Believe me or not my averegare cost went down to Rs. 4000 per week thereafter Note there was no change in fuel price during that time and always I used to pump 90 octane. Now I am a regular customer of LAUGF. Just try by yourself.
  10. I was using CEAT for about 6 moths (front wheells) before I sold my previous car (not only because it was a sri lankan product but I was running short of cash by that time, means CEAT is cheaper ) To be frank no issue as such was found but pls note I got wheel balanced plus an allignement just after replacement. Hope it should be OK if you check out you suspention plus , a wheel balance/allignment. Hope this will help.

Experienced better performance with 95 in my N16 (QG10). It adds about 1.5 km per ltr in the city totaling to about 10 km per ltr along with better performance. Obiously some more in outstation.
  12. Agree with what you say after doing a bit of reserach by myself where I checked about eight ES8 that were put in the paper for sale , during last 2-3 weeks. All gone. Apprecite your comments.

    Good Honda ?

Hi guys I saw a honda (ES8) yesterday and just had a look . Which was manufactured in 2002 and registration not sure since the book was not there at that time. But the NUmber was KD XXXXX .(open papers , currently second owner) The vehicle exterior looks good.(blue) But interior looks not carefully used. Can do a bit of cleaning and make it nice. The price quoted is 23.5 Mn but can nogotiate. My quesion is that this vehcle does not have any maintanance records as per the seller. He has acquired this from a foreigner. So how I can make sure the vehicle is OK.I have seen in this firum that the gear box has to be checked carefully. Can u pls help. I can find normal Garage Bas but I know Honda is a diffrent ball game.I was driving a nisssans before and Honda is something new to me.
  15. To be honest I don't know much about honda all what I know is what my friends say about Honda cars. That is ...Honday is execellent at its performance but expensive to maintain and will take months if you want to sell. (Honda lovers ..pls excuse me that is what I have herad) I am OK with higher maintainance cost but a bit waorried of the selling part. Apprecited if you could advise me. thanks
  16. Thanks guys for your inputs. I really appreciate it. Seems I will have to rethink of my buying options. My budget is about 1.9 mn. I need a car that is good in fuel economy, beauty and can be sold without a much effort. I would like to go for a toyota then . What is the next car I should be thinking of if I can streach the budget little above 2mn.(I don't like my road ) You think VIOS is out of my budget. By the way how is VIOS fuel economy. Thanks again
  17. Can someone help me out with this please...... Is N16 Ex saloon better than N 16 Super saloon in terms of fuel economy ? Where does sylphy (2001) fit in this analysis? tHANKS
  18. Does anyone know who can repair a scratched windscreen which is not so deep happened due to damaged wiper blades. Thanks in advance
  19. I know there are Nissan experts in this form, I need your advice please .My budget is around 1.85 Mn and looking for a N16 car. But not sure what to buy among..... N16 Ex saloon N16 Super Saloon N16 Sylphy (Japanese) I extreamly like sylphy coz of it's appearence and the interior (teak) but not a demanding car as much as N16 EX/SS.Not too sure ? I like Super saloon too but less fuel efficiency due to 1.6 mn, I have heard...not sure? The only available car which people think good is N16 Ex Saloon (1.5 cc). But I like the additional options available in SS. Please help me out ?
  20. Hi all, This is my first note but I was watching you guys communicating which is very nice and I learnt a lot to be frank. Thanks to everyone. Hi Nilantha, Believe the numbers you have given are overstated, I have been looking for a EK3 for some time and spoke some of my friends who drive EK3s with reference to fuel efficiency and received some numbers ,but none of them do add up with your numbers and the best number I got is 11km withing the city and about 13 oustations. Please correct me if I am wrong .Therefore I thought the milege is, more or less , the same when it comes to Honda and Nissan. And finally made up my mind to go for a Nissan N16 (Lets say Sylphy) just because I am struglling to find a good EK3.(Still looking for) If anyone of U drives n16 sylphy pls give me your feedback. Thanks again to everyone
