Second-hand Car Market: Myth And Manipulation????
Killer-B replied to kaushama's topic in General Automotive
I have a similar mindset now...... We have to somehow live with this.... I dont think the prices are gonna come down anytime soon and even if they do it wont be much........ so its better to get your hands on a good car irrespective of the price. I have missed some good opportunities too...... now I feel bad about it..... a car in good condition sell very quickly regardless of being overpriced these days... -
Second-hand Car Market: Myth And Manipulation????
Killer-B replied to kaushama's topic in General Automotive
I have also been looking to buy a car since april.......... most probably when the prices skyrocketed just before elections i guess....... I have almost given up now.... I found that it is very difficult to find a good unit, even if there was one, it is unbelievably overpriced. Seems like cars are very close to become extinct here...... people dont want to sell their car specially if they are in good shape. so most of the available cars are nothing but crap! So I decided to wait wait and wait for the market to settle down but still I need a car very badly. -
Maybe you wanna try asking a trishaw driver I've seen many with these kinda horns (well.... not exactly the but still somewhat similar)

Come on..... its not that bad

This is a somewhat reasonable mileage for a 99' FB15.......mileage is not a big issue if the car seems to be well maintained, like a car that has not been well maintained but has done only 60000kms can give you a lot of trouble than a car that has been well maintained with about 100000+kms on the clock. Just make sure that you do the oil, ATF changes and stuff correctly and the car will not let you down. Btw I dont think that all the imported cars (reconditioned) are clocked........there is some odometer check service available.

I understand there is no big price difference between toyota and mazda spares but the thing is......Are mazda spares freely available in kandy? The local baas guys say that it is not so..... Now I am stuck between familias and corollas.......great!
-
Thankx for that..... do all mazda familias come with SVT? Why does this give a worse mileage than the Virs?
-
Nope from a starlet. I am also looking at the AE110 but I find it hard getting something with H/J registration nos. There was a 99' HX series car with a lot of modifications bodykit, spoiler, hi end sound sys, alloys and stuff and the guy was asking me a frigging 2M for it with 110000+ on the clock!
-
BJ3W is a sports hatch if i am not mistaken.....Machn I need a automatic transmission not a triptonic. (I assume that SVT means something like triptonic) correct me if i am wrong.

Alright......I count out the N16,FB15 and the civic. (my sister will also be driving it frequently so I dont want a civic to change its original shape ) Here is what I found out about the mazdas: *323- Singapore Import comes with leather seats, security sys and has a higher ground clearance but minus airbags although 2001 and later models are equipped with single or dual airbags. *Familia- Japanese, lower ground clearance compared to 323, and all other standard features except for leather seats. So if I am going for a mazda, I personally prefer a familia. but a local baas told me that mazda spares are a little hard to find and expensive than of toyotas (in kandy) How is the mazda agent in colombo?
-
machan....... sorry if I sound stupid....but are 323 and BJ3P/BJ5P two different models? Familia is connected with BJ3P/5P is it?

Hey guys, Having driven hatchbacks for about 2 years, I thought of moving onto a sedan for a change. I tried my best to try and not to post a new topic for this since most of the cars that I have mentioned below have been discussed earlier....I guess and I am new to the forum of course..... tried search but it didnt quite solve my problems. I have a budget of around 1.8-1.9mil and my main concerns are : comfort, availability of spares, resale value (since I will be using it for another 2yrs or so), a fairly good gas mileage (9 r 10+ kmpl) My current choices are: *Corolla AE110 *Sunny FB15 *Sunny N16 *Mazda famila BJ3P / BJ5P - I am not a mazda fan myself so I would like to know about these two models. I've heard that mazdas give trouble often... *Honda civic EK3 (VIRS) Are there any other popular models that fall into my price bracket? if so please make some suggestions... Cheers!

Is It Legal To Sell A Car If The Owner Is Abroad?
Killer-B replied to Killer-B's topic in Ask for Advice
Thkx bro........and is the letter a must? -
Hey guys, I recently bought my new car, and I do not have parking space for two cars in my garage. I managed to squeeze the march into my neighbors garage for the time being, but I cannot have it parked there forever I got a few offers for the march lately and I think I may have to sell it very soon, but there is one thing that bothers me. The car is registered under my dad's name and he is out of the country currently and sadly wont be returning home for another year or two, but dad has already signed the MTA6. So is it possible for me to sell the car? Will there be any legal issues? Please help me with this. Cheers!
-
Yea I think the the trick works, no personal experience though.......first try it on minor scratches (you will have to apply brasso and rub it sooo hard) and see if there is any effect on the paint. But I would recommend using it only on the scratches that are on the lower and much unnoticeable part of the door. Be careful if you are using it on a metallic paint it would tend to fade or lose its shine.......i guess If things are very bad, I think repainting the whole door as you also have a dent on the door.

Do you see any signs of engine over heating? Hill clinmbing with a load can overheat the engine - if there is any fault in the cooling system, this may cause detonation. Also you may try a higher octane fuel (you are using oct. 90 fuel, i assume) so try 95. I dont think this is a issue for starlet, it is a very good car,for a well maintained one of course! The other more experienced guys in AL is sure to help you with this. Cheers
