V*P vehicle kills one MONDAY, 14 MARCH 2011 11:05 A vehicle in which a Deputy Minister’s wife was reportedly traveling had met with an accident in Avissawella last night killing one person while injuring three others. The incident had taken place at around 8 p.m. last night at the Ukwatta junction in Avissawella. However, the Avissawella police denying the presence of a Minister’s wife in the vehicle stated that a vehicle belonging to a ministry had crashed and killed one person while injuring three other individuals last night. I have started to see an increase in autos driving around town with foreign plates. I wonder what permits they are running on? Is it away to avoid taxes in Sri Lanka. Do you have to eventually export the car out of Sri Lanka? Ive seen a newer Range Rover, a huge Mercedes CL. I think they are british plates.

seen it everywhere. Its great to have a garage plate you bring anything down say ur converting for export and just drive it around town. Circumnavigating all import laws.

Its going to be miracle if they can convert this to RHD cus the interior looks dam difficult to do and the engine compartment must be a tight squeez since they packed a 6.2 liter v8 in there.

So Jr gets to drive around cars waiting to be converted? Does that increase the value of the car?

Few years back the gave away bullet proof merc in the STATE lotto. So must be another reason for sinking the cars. Might be too expensive to remove communication gear and other state secrets and return it to OEM spec for a sale.

If its the younger son and he is not in politics why would he have to be restricted to the politicians permit? He should be able to get any car he wants. Im surprised the family wouldnt keep a low profile after that aston maritin rumors awhile ago. It went in all the papers. Wasnt he shamed by that?
