I've also seen a few (may be 2) in Kandy. As it's a Japanese made, Spare parts might be available( but as not much as other famous SUVs like RAV4 etc.). Some times those spare parts may be matching to this one. Johnway owners or other experts, pls share your experience..................!!!

Hi guys, First of all please let me know if there's an existing thread about this topic. I searched in the forum but couldn't find, so started a new thread. I saw this SUV in several advertisements in AL and also on the way. It's "Dihatsu" (i.e Japanese made) and exterior appearence is as same as RAV4 (and CRV). The price given in the Ad is also reasonable for a SUV comparing to others. http://www.autolanka.com/cars/daihatsu/2012-daihatsu-johnway-380-colombo-180396.html Could anyone using this vehicle please share their pros and cons.
  3. Yes mahesh. I'll go for a complete tune up soon. A round figure like 10km/l is more than enough for me. After the job, I'll let you know guys...!! Thank you very much for your valuable comments.
  4. I'm worring abt the previous tune up as it has not done a complete thing as you said. In my previous tune up, that person said that the plugs are OK and he did only cleaning the system and checking ecu. He didn't replace the plugs. That's why I thought, it's the time to do another check up. It's about 350Km of long drive and then the total is abt 14000Km.
  5. Thanks a lot guys for the responses. As Gayan says, It's the time to do another tune up. Also, will try to drive as a grandma for few days. Because I'm a daily traveller abt 25-35Km, this efficiency fact noticed to me regularly. Thanks Guys again and like to see some more comments and ideas from others also.
  6. Hi guys, My allion 240's petrol consumption in city limit is around 8-9km/l and 12-13km/l in long drive. I had done an engine tune up about a year before. In several advertisements in AL, I saw that they have mentioned the same model does more than 12km/l in city. http://www.autolanka.com/ad.asp?ID=152547 Sometimes that may be not the genuine figure. I tried on several threads regarding this but couldn't find any direct answer. Can allion 240 users share their experience on this please?
  7. What about an Allion 240/2002-2003 model...........??

    Odometer Reading Error

Hi guys, I got a 2002 model allion. When I was buying it abt 10 months back, the odometer reading was ok. But after abt. 1-2 weeks, I observed that the first digit has gone (vanished). After abt 2-3 days, that first digit appeared again and lost after driving for a day or two. Now it has permanently gone. How could that happened? One of the garage guys said, that might be happened by trying to roll back the odometer by the previous owner. Is that true? Could you please let me know the actual reason for this? Can it get repaired?
  12. I also agree with crosswind guru ji.. Love SX4 hatchback.....................!!!

  18. When I was thinking to purchase my 1st car abt 9-10 years before , Corolla II was also in my list of cars. It's a good looking small car. ( the egg shaped one) I heard that its fuel consumption also good. But my problem was the two door factor. If there were 4 door corolla II cars, I'd have definitely buy one .
  19. Good stuff guys, Can anyone please let me know the correct grade of Oil for my car?
  20. Thank you very much guys for immediate responses. Now I understood that those mechanics (????) have no idea abt it at all. When I asked abt the reason for that, they told it's a common problem for VVT engines in Allions, 121 and Vios. Rumesh's explanation is very important. Thanks again guys.
  21. Hi Guys, I'm using an Allion 240 (2002) sedan. I recently saw a same model in a garage brought to repair due to condensation(solidification) of engine oil. can anyone please advise me to sort-out the followings. 1. Is it a common problem for VVT engines? 2. What are the reasons for it ? 3. What are the remedies for it? 4. How much will it cost? Your advises are highly appreciated.
  22. But my one (2002 model) does only 9km per litre in city limits. Recently done a tune up also. ...........
  23. Hi Guys! After 2-3 busy weeks I released a bit. My tech. decided to go for a new AC compressor (Thailand made) after changing 2 reconditioned air compressors cos they didn't suit to my car. Before that he flushed the condenser using a special kind of chemical. I could observed that a large amount of sludge has flushed out. Then the new compressor fixed and he asked me to use for 2-3 weeks and to meet him again. Till today there's no big issue. Have you got any idea abt. those compressors made in Thailand/Taiwan? Are they durable? Of course it may not as good as Japanese one. But comparing with the prize, the Japanese one is very expensive.
  24. Yep..!! I agree with you. My one does around 9km/l in city. Is that ok? (but I heard that model does around 12km/l in city)
  25. Your knowledge is awesome mate...!!! My technician also noticed me abt that fault regarding the coil. According to him, that fault was also there and he has repaired it. After that repair, there was no noise for 2-3 days. The plate was not rotating when the AC is switched off. But after that the fault raised again. Then he pointed me abt that fault in condenser. Before replacing a condenser, he dismantled the whole Unit (Ac compressor) and replaced it with another reconditioned compressor because he wanted to show me that there's no problem with that previous AC unit any more. And asked me to drive for 2-3 days and if the noise arises again, his conclusion would be replacing the faulty condenser. Now I think his assumption is correct, because after driving only 2 days that plate started to rotate and noise started again. Tomorrow I'd be going to his place again (may be for the 7th time) and ask him to do what ever he think to recover this. (cos I got fed up of this ... ) Thankx again mate, I'd come back to you again after that. Highly appreciate your advises...!
