  1. My 96 Ek3 also has the same issue, slight oily look in both ends of steering rack but no noticeable oil level drops in power steering oil tank. A few mechanics told no point of replacing oil seals and all, it needs to be replaced with a recon rack. And recently I noticed a sound which is similar to bad CV joint sounds when steering is turned both ways while car is moving only, but no sounds when moving straight. I checked both CV boots were not damaged also. I also read the previous thread about Cefiro and got to know that Komisiripala has helped the victim. Can you do the same to me too before I ended up replacing the rack? Many Thanks.
  2. It could be faulty Blower Fan or related fuses. Get your vehicle to AC repairing joint, they will figure out the issue soon.
  3. Agree with Mkx, better avoid Upul. And Waruna is good but these days it is very difficult to reserve a date from him and he is not full time repairing vehicles now. Rohan Kesbewa is also good chap, he is working in Stafford and he works at home in weekends including Sundays but you have to buy parts yourself prior to the repair.

  5. It was prior to changing timing belt man. it is now the same for long period of time, It starts first time I change the oil seal inside distributor. Then did de-carbonizing. after that how ever distributor adjusted it didn't work, later then I replaced the distributor as well but nothing solves it. Prior to both things if small press of accelerator moves the car like a rocket . Now after pressing the accelerator it takes a few seconds to rev the engine and starts moving if I press more starts hearing the ignition. (But ignition sound is not coming always) And distributor is not extremely advanced. And now for two days CC light is not coming up.

  7. Do you know a place in Sri Lanka to get cc checked with a laser temp gun? I saw this method in youtube.
  8. Yes ignition timing is set using a timing torch as well. But it still coming the sound.

Another thing noted, From Tuesday evening drive to home whole time CC light turned on and same thing happens yesterday morning drive as well, But from yesterdayevening, it is turned off, yesterdayevening drove it around 20km and today morning 10km, now no sign of turning on. Don't know what the hell has happened. And noted when cc lights is turned on with AC on, it goes off along with the AC compressor clutch off. Noted this several times, but not always.

Hmm actually ignition sound is not hearing all the time, if I accelerate it hard very quickly in 2nd gear when car is running around 40 kmph, it starts accelerating and then hearing the ignition noise (Some says tappet noise). This is not happening ALWAYS. And some times car is moving in flat road around 60kmph in 4th gear, if I accelerate a bit more, it hears the same sound and it seems car has no power. One mechanic said if ignition sounds coming even in high speeds in flat roads, there might be an issue in injectors. He said that Injectors might just pour the fuel instead of spraying the fuel under correct pressure. ( I have previously cleaned the injectors and changed the fuel filter as well, but didn't solve the issue. And pumping EURO3 Fuel. ) Same mechanic told me there can not be engine worn out in this engine considering it's age and kms (142km) have run and he is told that he has not replaced valve seals in any ek3 engine for his history of repairing Honda cars. Plugs are looking good and car's fuel consumption is ok (Around 10-11kmps in city). I found a reconditioned exhaust manifold which matches to my car's one, it costs 20k, I'm bit hesitate to replace it as now I have done a hell lot of thing due to the ignition sound but neither of them resolved the issue. I have changed the distributor as well. Other thing suggested was replacing the injectors with another set of reconditioned ones. Now I'm bit desperate of the car, it is driven daily and it is with me now 3 years. I did the de-carbonizing after an year I purchased it.
  11. You should be find a reconditioned one, my one was replaced 2.5 years back with a reconditioned one.
  12. And another thing Bad Valve seals will be a reason for the ignition sound as well?
  13. hmmm my one is Civic ML not Mi, may be it is having only one o2 sensor. Blue smoke comes only if it revs like 4000rmp, machanic said it is ok to smoke in that much rmps if the vehicle is not moving. I have no idea if it smokes when moving.
  14. If valve seals would have to be replaced how much cost would to be spend, it has 16 valve seals to be replaced right? And what else to replace along with it? And please let me know a good place to get a compression test done near wellawatta area.
  15. It is mounted vertically. If I rev high like 4000 RPM when the car is in neutral position, it comes out blue smoke with oily smell. And in the morning just after starting the engine in RMP like 2500 there is a white smoke coming out.
  16. If I remove it, so what will happens to the O2 sensor readings? My machanic said car has only one O2 sensor. And cc is located in very next to the exhaust manifold AFAIK, and there is another small barrel under the car which right under the gear leaver. What would it be? It seems no sensors there ( no wires connected to it ) Can that also be blocked?
  17. huh... I replaced the clutch + pressure plates last year. Now only 20k kms done in new clutch. So what is the connection between clutch and the cc indicator? why it comes up? I don't think clutch is wrong, anyway thanks for your help.
  18. Yes that's what happens, along with the ignition sound. If I drive like that in 15-20 min, cc light comes up. Sorry about the confusion.

Actually it revs up (as soon as I floor the pedal, it takes a few seconds to rev up) engine sounds loud, but it has no much torque, it feels really well in hill climbing and can hear ignition noise as well. Engine de-carbonizing chemical which connected to fuel line was used to de-carbonize. It was some wire in engine bay (near the CC)
  20. I dont think it is the clutch as new clutch + pressure plate done only 20k kms only. Recently I did an engine scan as well it doesn't had any error codes as well, A few months back after de-carbonizing the engine Catalytic converter came permanently on. Then waruna kesbewa told me that earth wire has been fallen off, but I dno't know how de-carbonizing fells that wire. So then he re fixed the wire and reset the ecu and light went off. But now it is turned on and off in high RPMs.

  22. Hi Guys, I owned a Civic Ek3 96 JDM which comes with a Catalytic Converter. Now it's indicator in meter panel is randomly turned on and off. It seems it comes on if I drive the car in high RPMs, and I noted that the engine is rev hard but car is not moving much and ignition sound also hearing. Once the light comes on again it goes off if I drive the car smoothly in low RPMs in about 10-15min. This is happening now quite a some time. And most of the time after having a drive in high RPMs, next day morning once I turned on the ignition switch, Catalytic converter indicator and Battery indicator don't turned on no matter how many times i turned off and on the ignition switch. But the car starts as normal, then for next time all the bulbs are turned on as normal for whole day. And other thing I noticed was if the car is drove in high RMPs, lets say two three days continuously, engine oil level is dropping in considerable amount. (suspect bad valve oil seals, if so how to get it confirmed that before opening engine?) Before going to do anything thought to get ideas of you guys. How to check the condition of catalytic converter? If it is bad is it available to replace and cost and where can i find it? If it is not available to replace, is it ok to remove it? What are the pros and cons of not having a catalytic converter? Many Thanks,
