Cv Joint Problems In Chevrolet Cruze(Hatch Back)
bagUrE replied to samp2's question in Mechanical problems
I second that. In some cases, you cannot just go and get the parts by model name. You have to have the samples with you. Having an idea about the similar models will definitely be an advantage. For example, some Fords use Mazda engine models. Searching for Ford parts maight be useless, but you can get it done using Mazda as the keyword. This mentality eventually leads way to pay unworthy prices for Toyota "Ladarams" even. -
Thanks harshansenadhir and others for the valuable ksuggestions. I will check them out and update.

10000 km feels like too low for a break pads replacement. How confident are you about the indicated odometer readings? What about the quality of the pads used for subsequent replacements in 45000km one?
-
It is still less than 10000 km since the last oil change; looks and feels OK according to the tests you mentioned. No. I'm talking about A/T all the time. FYI: http://auto.howstuffworks.com/automatic-transmission10.htm

I haven't check them but the engine seems sitting fine when idling. I will check anyway. That's something I've never thought of. I do not hear any strange noise while shifting (not yet). Are there any other signs to identify an issue with the clutch or the gearbox?
-
The vehicle is Getz 2002, 1300 CC A/T, with 82000+ kms. The problem is a wierd noise basically. When the engine is running and gear is in P, N or R, this noise is not there at all. When the gear is in D,1 or 2, and with foot / hand break is applied, there come the noise, louder. It is almost similar to a belt screaming. Alternator. AC and PS belts were changed but no improvement. Eventually changed the harmonic balacer as well according to a mechanic; no change at all. Timing belt is also new (changed before this noise issue) This noise is not there when driving. Only comes when on brakes with gear on D,1 or 2. Turning AC, Headlights on/off makes no change. Anybody has any idea?

I handed over my car to this workshop for the accident repair job. Got the car back on last Friday just one day later than they promised... They had replaced the rear hatchback door. athe paint job was acceptable except for one spot just down the galss, which has not been touched with my colour. They said they would rectify it when taken for the cut & polish. They had done a good job with repairing the bumper as well. However, one reverse sensor was not working which was found to be a sensor cable disconnection; not a big issue. Service was almost hasle free for me. Just went there to collect the car. Overall, I would give them 8/10.

There are devices like GPS trackers and security systems those remain plugged in to the port all the time. So I guess it would be harmless.

Crosswind, thanks for the info... Considering this place as it would be hassle free for me as the insurance guy said (my insurance is Asi*n Al***ance). Otherwise, I will have to go through the normal estimate-approval cycle. However, that is not an excuse for a second class job that's why I wanted to hear from someone who has had experience with them. As you've said, service is not something that we can expect to be great even with the agent sometimes... Thanks once again.

Hello, Anyone having experience with the workshop operated by Asi*n Al***ance insurance? This is situated in the Royal Gardens, Rajagiriya, close to the Gateway school. They are handling repairs of Fords and Daihatsus. Want to get an accident repair done.Referred by the insurance agent who came for the assessment. Would like to know how their service is before giving it a try. Thanks.

Sylvi, Actually there exists many products of the type metal conditioners, may be beyond your knowledge. Just type it in; this is a nice explanation [rather an advertisement for the said brand] Yes you have mentioned the trade name of the product that I am talking about, but I believe you have used their fuel additive. This particular product was introduced recently. As from the advertisement facts, it can: 1. Reduce wear at morning start. 2. Reduce engine noise / vibration 3. Reduce excessive engine heat. 4. Reduce gumming up of oil. 5. Reduce friction among engine components. 6. Increase engine power. 7. Increase engine life by 50%. Also, it states that it does NOT contain teflon, graphite, Zinc etc. Just curious to know whether anyone has used this so far...Any improvements or issues.

Has anyone used a metal conditioner added to engine oil? Recently saw an ad by S*ltron about their new product called Ez*. Thinking about trying it...

Take the original revenue license with you when you go there. It would be wise to go with a photocopy of your NIC as well. As stated in this thread, ask for help from DMT staff only. BTW, does anybody know what happens if the previous owner has submitted his documents (MTA 6 A) to the RMV with a transfer date different from what's on transferee's papers?- 96 replies

What Are The Good Brand For Timing Belt - 4Pk1790
bagUrE replied to nish1's topic in General Automotive
Poscher, I believe they are available here in Sri Lanka. Check with Korean A*to M*rt - Maradana. -
I also had the same issue, with a different make and model. I fixed a smooth headed bolt through the hole which used to hold the rubber bush. Now it is a "life time" solution for just Rs.5/-. The only thing i had to consider was to select a bolt head with a maching thickness (as of the original bush) and had to make sure that the head of the bolt is not likely to damage the plastic pin of the brake light switch with prolonged usage.

Driving With High Beam On- So Irritating
bagUrE replied to Stingray's topic in Feedback & Suggestions
BTW, what should be the behaviour on E01 ? I tend to use high beams all the time and experience the same from most of the oncoming traffic. But it is not that much disturbing as if it was on a normal road ... -

Agreed! Done this a few times and it worked ! Seems like something attributed to the drivers of Indian vehicles... -
Headlight alignement is not a service that costs much. Recently I saw an ad saying N*l*ka Wheel Alignment is doing it at a 50% discounted rate, which was less than Rs.500/- as I remember.

Thanks jdnet. I'll try.

Anyone knows where I can buy a pair of boots only for a lower arm ball joint. One boot is damaged, but it was spotted before the joint itself is affected. I am looking for something like: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Classic-and-New-Car-Parts_Rubber-Dust-covers_W0QQ_fsubZ14970517QQ_sidZ64055221QQ_trksidZp4634Q2ec0Q2em322

In G100s, adjustment screws are on the front of the lamp, I think. If you have removed head lamps for any repair, there is a good chance of alignment to go out.
