  1. yeah. you get that mileage if you drive conservatively. a little bit acceleration beyond what is required to get the car moving at a reasonable speed will reduce that. check in hit-ad today. there's a nice W210 kompressor for 4 mil. even in AL there was a car for 4.8 mil. way too much. it would be an absolute bargain if you find something for about 3.6-3.7 mil provided with a good maintenance record.
  2. kompressor is not a trim. it means super charged petrol engine. almost all the kompressors are face lifted. fuel consumption is high in these cars. i have been informed by friends who use this model as they generally do about 7-8 KMPL on city running. but if you are driving a mercedes, you would not really care about that.
  3. i own a '96 W210 E220 diesel. the going price for this model is about 4 million. 300- E200 petrol cars for around 2.6-3 million. a face lifted E200 kompressor model is much expensive. they go for around 3.9 mil to 4.5 mil, these were manufactured between 2000-2001 . avantgarde is the ultimate trim (not including AMG), elegance comes next, and then follows classic which is the cheapest. pre face lifted E220 common rail diesel (CDI) cars going prices could be about 4.5-5 million. and face lifted CDI models manufactured after 2000 is much expensiver. could be anything more than 5.5 mil. i have seen some cars advertised for more than 7 mil also. i dont think they are realistic prices, that is way to much for this car. overall these are really nice cars. there could be electrical faults occurring from time to time such as power windows and etc. you have gotta make sure you do regular maintenance on these cars. they are fully computerized unlike the W124's. so maintenance can be a little expensive. if you are thinking of going for a diesel, i recommend you go for a E220 CDI diesel unlike my E220 diesel which is non turbo. they are good on fuel efficiency and decent acceleration for a diesel car. these are really comfortable cars, great leg space. you wont get thrown around even if you maneuver a bend at 80kmph. but dont go trying this just because i said it . i'm not a fully technical guy. so this is what i know about these models.
  4. it should be available in panchikawatta or you could buy from wurth lanka itself. not sure where it is though. google it and see. i'm sorry, i didnt come to know how it works though. all i know is that i used the additive for diesel engines when i had the same problem. the car had a momentary jerk in the engine on acceleration coupled with a loss of power. after i added this, it doesnt happen as often.
  5. i think there maybe dirt deposits in your petrol tank. you could probably use a fuel deposit cleaner additive by wurth and see if it helps the cause.
  6. if your lease was obtained from commercial bank, you probably cant transfer the lease. cz my lease was from com bank too. banks are not flexible with vehicle leasing. you would have been better off obtaining a lease from a finance company. i'm not sure which one is the best. you should probably consult somebody before you do anything. but NTB is being very customer oriented and flexible. talk to this guy if you want. his name is Roshan and he works at the NTB navam mawatha as the lending officer. 0714298557
  7. watchman is right. even if a POA is signed, the owner of the car, in this circumstance, commercial bank would have to agree. but if the person you decide to hand over the vehicle after the signing the POA, defaults the payments, it is the original lessee who will be liable for any damages and payments. commercial bank has made me regretted banking with them. should have known better. my father doesnt want to take any unnecessary risks, and he doesnt mind making payments to keep the car. in the meantime, i get short term rental requests from people i know.
  8. i actually rented the vehicle to Diethem tours [known as HEM tours] in january 2011, who are currently operation hilton hotel's transport fleet . they ripped me off. i had to pay for the driver, petrol and even service my car. paid me only 35 bucks per km. i withdrew my car. also i inquired from unilevers. they wanted axios for a 5 year long contract. unfortunately they dont rent from individuals. they said they would pay 120k per month. i then contacted ECD global who rent vehicles to unilevers. guess what they offered me? 60k per month! they get to keep 1:1 profit off my car. i am totally the risk bearer here. need to change tyres, do service and all the other routine repairs. all they do is be an intermediary. well.. it wont serve them any good for doing unfair business.
  9. thank you much for the replies everyone. i have resorted to keeping the car than thinking of crazy ideas to get rid of the burden. i think they probably states in the terms and conditions that the car can not be sold to another party without settling off the 5 year commitment. this is the biggest problem when we dont properly read the terms and conditions. they can screw us over. sucks for me. but thanks for you time.
  10. will the good folks in the customs give me any trouble ? did you mean good folks in the customs? you have got to be sarcastic . dont even think of importing it directly. have somebody hand carry it for you.
  11. i also had somebody give me this crazy suggestion. like make the car look as if it was car-jacked. thus, without a car, there is no point of carrying on payments. but i have a doubt if my name will appear on the blacklist of the CRIB. hmmm... also, you can condemn the car and since it is on full insurance, insurer will pay the total amount to the bank. but all the payments we have made so far will be irrecoverable. thats the down side to it. i am being creative to find a loose end to get away with this burdensome lease.
  12. its handled by commercial bank. i'm absolutely disgusted with them and have no choice but to pay them their dues now. they agreed for a full settlement, which is 5 million plus some penalty i guess. a lot of people suggested that idea of MOU between another person interested and get it certified by a lawyer. but if this person starts defaulting payments, it is us the bank will be coming after. not the person who we gave the car to, to carry on payments.
  13. it truly sucks!!! next time i want to buy a car, leasing will never be an option, especially from a bank. banks are not renowned for vehicle leasing. rather, finance institutions such as LB finance, vallibel finance, ######## have more flexible terms and conditions and are easy to work with. and also note to myself, go for a loan instead of a lease as well.
  14. Hi all, I have a toyota axio 141 that I bought on a full lease in december 2010. the car also has the VAT invoice. the purpose of this purchase was to put the car for long term rent and however, i came to realize that rent a car business is a very tricky. i got to know horrifying stories of vehicles being sold with fraudulent documents, breaking down of cars to parts and whatnot. so i decided that unless i find somebody that i trust and someone i know very well, i'm not going to rent the car because i love the car as well. i have 3 diesel vehicles at home and i must say that running the axio is not the most economical. i use it only to get about city limits and it is not very pleasing to see that it only does about 8-9 km's per liter even on economical drive within colombo. so i was thinking to get rid of the car and actually advertised it. few people even came and inspected the car and were interested. but i found myself in a deadlock as the leasing is handled by commercial bank (this is going to be my last transaction with them!). they do not allow the lease to be transferred to another customers name. the only option is to pay off the total due at the end of the 5 years lease. so for a car which cost 3.75 mil will be approx 5 mil after interest. much to my unhappiness, i am compelled to keep the car with me. so i was hoping i could seek some advice from somebody knowledgeable. i spoke to the leasing officer at NTB navam mawatha and he said that their vehicle leases are full transferable between customers at no additional cost. now i feel like banging my head on the wall. appreciate anybody's input and sorry for the long story of my plight.
  15. ya. i'm not sure about that. they even change the number if changes have been made to the chassis. E300 engine would roughly cost about Rs. 250,000. and with the E200 engine that you want to swap, overall cost could come up to about Rs. 400,000. given that there is a buyer for your E200 engine. Talk to Avin** Enterprises and see. They might be interested in buying the engine or getting down one for you.
  16. what if i buy a E200 and do a engine swap?? that is fix E300's engine to a E200? is it possible? yep. thats possible. with the engine, a lot of components will have to change with it. but the number plate will probably change with it? i'm not so sure about that.
  17. there were cars imported after the english number system was introduced. and they were not brand new, 0 mileage. also, higher the output of the engine, higher the price tag. there is no real difference in fuel consumption. it also depends on the number of options the car has. most E300's i know have electric seats and etc unlike my E200.
  18. as far as i know, there are no turbo powered W124 engines in SL although the W126's have turbos. but they are all converted engines. chassis was made for petrol engines apparently.
  19. Hello. I myself own 2 W124's . a '90 E250 (5 Cylinder) and a '94 E200. E200 engine is not powerful enough. The car is heavy and as stable as a rock. But it is economical on diesel. I get about 9-10KM's per liter on city running on the E200 and the same for the E250. No electrical faults what so ever. I have used these cars for over 6 years now and I'm still happy to drive in them. 32- W124 E200's go for around 1.6-1.9 mil 32- W124 E250 goes for around 2.1-2.4 mil 64- and 65- W124 E200 goes for around 2.6-2.9 mil 64- and 65- W124 E250 goes for around 3-3.4 mil 64- and 65- W124 E300 (6 cylinder) goes for over 3.5 mil Not sure about english numbered W124's as they have varying prices.
