  8. well for that range you can try the Lancer C12,Nissan Sunny B11 ,Trad Sunny (but not easy now),Mazda 323,ford laser,or the Toyota DX wagon
  9. Congrats and Gods blessings to you both!
  10. Good points made by both Jdnet and Nzer as i have found that valuation reports are waved in the face of prospective buyers by sellers which are way above the market price If your going to a valuation place make sure to tell them hat your the buyer and also check around the market for similar cars and how much they are going for
  11. thanks Miniace I didnt know that i thought they had taken the grill from a pre war Austin and fixed it to the Ford ! btw how many such Fords are there now
  12. even though its a classic no one will pay 8m for it! btw i see a black peugeot 203 on marin drive frequently and its a beauty, not in pristine condition but in good daily use state!
  13. sure can and did that mate but past experience with some of these places is that they promise things over the telephone but when you go they say not all the things promised are not available as some items have broken/out of service etc (eg: ada thamai kaduna sir) which means its a waste of time and leave to have gone there,as such wanted user reviews form AL members if they had used them
  14. sorry the subject line should have read 'has anyone used the services of car checks ltd'
  15. great collection that Vauxall looks a solid car i assume that there are hardly any in daily use in SL now even in remote towns!
  16. Awesome didnt know there were car dealers like this for classic cars in Colombo ( i know one in Kandy but they sell in bad condition and not restored ones) that Ford Anglia/Popular in the 3rd pic has got the wrong radiator grill fitted though
  17. I would like to know if anyone has used the services of Car checks ltd in Colombo to get a vehicle checked before buying one and if yes how good were they in checking the car and were they able to detect hidden faults also do they do a compression test and put it on a ramp to check for chassis damage etc
  18. would be great if we have some pics of the Sri Lankan Lancers Box cars too as Im sure many are in equally good nick esp in Ratnaura/Balangoda area
  19. i have to agree with you on this mate only exceptiong being the VW bug (but the OP has that and wants to upgrade)
  20. Lancer Flat or tube light Jap cars Lancer Box for 300k is a bit tricky to get a good one Ford Laser/Mazda Toyota DX wagon (but will be more around 350 onwards) Datsun/Nissan sunny B210,B211 etc Euros Ford Escort Hillman Avenger (good car but parts are had and no a/c) Hillman Avenger same as above Ford cortina (go for the last in the series which were 7-8 SRI when brand new) Peugeot lucky to find a good 504 for that range Mk VW Golf but AC otion may not be there
  21. yes and also when it was idling, there was a small tear in the drivers side door board and slight windscreen leak too hence skipped it
  22. The best ones to look for are the 5fwd tranny ones with RPM meter i think those are 1450 CC if im correct?
  23. its a 1500 CC one unfortunately the engine was smoking a bit and its in a car sale hence had to give it up and look for another one,he wanted 850 for it
  24. Thanks all since im a Mitsu fan im biased towards the Proton too,but as some pointed out whatever the car it has to be an unmolested one though I know that mechanics try their stunts with carbs and hack them in many cases, but in an EFI engine thats not possible right? or will our maka baasses ruin them too trying to get fuel economy,as i heard of a Proton with EFI up for sale (i have had issues with carbs being meddled with in previous cars which was a real head-ache!)
