Most of companies use panels and inverters assembled in China with "German technology". Other companies use Chinese branded products with low cost. Very few reputed companies use genuine German, Norwegian brands and obviously those products are expensive.

Yes, it's part of "Surya Bala Sangramaya" thing, But my idea is to add an air conditioner with 2kw system and to earn by selling additional power to CEB by so called Net Accounting system. I found one of news paper article after reading your warning about pending payments. http://www.sundaytimes.lk/170423/business-times/ceb-delays-payments-for-solar-power-net-accounting-customers-237618.html Thanks.

Guys, Thought of bringing this old thread out of coffin to know the current situation as I'm planning to install a 2kw Grid connected Solar system on my roof. Few companies were checked and i confused bit about the total cost, durability of panels and longevity of the companies. Therefore I decided get updates from you guys as always there should be someone with solar panel experience here for long. So share your experience here to learn more before installation. Thanks.

Yes I agree. I had to pay 3000+ RS as VAT of their last service call. Micro uses Motul as engine oil and charges 10000+ Rs for 4ltrs! But can be used to run 10000km. First three services are free of labour cost and then I shifted to one of their authorised service station. Rest of the parts are not so expensive.

I'm using a Ssangyong Tivoli assembled by Micro. It would be a good choice if you are interested. But it's a crossover with reasonable fuel economy. I achieved 14~15 km/l on long run. Comfortable as a crossover and spacious. It comes with 3 yrs warranty.

Old Thread. Help with this ; -
Great simple DIY project. Thanks for sharing. Inserting a L or U type piece of PET might be more stronger and durable if the space permits, just an idea!

Honda Fit GP 1 was sold last December and bought this Ssangyong Tivoli crossover assembled by Micro in this January. It's equipped with 1.6 petrol engine and Japanese Aisin automatic gearbox. 250km drove within last couple of days and happy about the car! https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9My6BDnDmC3RWJGNDhGUjM0Y2s/view?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9My6BDnDmC3MnN4anJEWkZ0TUk/view?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9My6BDnDmC3bDdTaEhYQ2FVUFU/view?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9My6BDnDmC3Mmt1SVprMU0zX00/view?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9My6BDnDmC3MjhSVWZreDZvOXM/view?usp=sharing

This is so called typical Sri Lankan Mentality. Have you ever witnessed a mudalali or politician driving a CR-V or a CX 5? We as Sri Lankans are reluctant to change our mind set. But definitely No doubt about Toyota reliability, but progressing with another brand like Honda or Mazda has the same final effect. Buy for lesser and at end sale for lesser. Fuel consumption wise not all the Toyota models do wonders. Savings from buying can effectively use to cover fuel bill on other brands on long run. Importantly can find a newer car for the same price tag with more bells and whistles!

How does this effect on assembled vehicles, such as Micro cars here?

This is not rocket science! Any reputed car service station will do the job though it's new to you . 0W 20 is the engine oil recommended and Havoline eco is ok and cheaper. Most of service stations are having Honda genuine filters and oil required to change. Otherwise can buy them at Teck Motors, No: 192/21, 1st Floor, G.I.G.Building, Panchikawatta Road or Access Motors. Be sure to use genuine Honda CVT oil as recommended for your gear box! Do not forget to clean or change cabin air filter too.

Reasons are Less emissions :"The 1.6-litre diesel pumps out CO2 emissions of 113g/km (in 2WD) but the best the 1.6 petrol can manage is 149g/km", Better Fuel consumption, Longer life span, because of runnig at slow speed, Price differance is very little (diesel one is 4.8M not 4.9M) and Better torque, though little less pulling power. Of course no argument about second hand market, but why do you worry about it in first place? You may use vehicle for longer if it is good.

Better off from petrol and try the diesel car. Many of UK reviews suggested the same. About plastics; well it's not cheap, good interior design. Also sound system is pretty good, it's Harman Kardon!

Guys, I visited Micro showroom today and drove the TIVOLI. Well, the finish of the vehicle all right though so many plastics there. The test drive car is full option one with two tone (Red and Black top) as seen in below picture. Observed sufficient leg and head spaces over rear seats. It's wider and feels so roomy. Nice large boot to pack lot. Seats are two toned. But I felt lack of power while accelerating the car. Slight jerk felt while shifting gear lever in between positions. Well this is just the feeling comparing to my FIT GP1! Manual switch of gear (tiptronic) placed close to the knob on driver side as a sliding switch! (I'm not familiar with this kind of shifting). Also light control including signals placed at left side of the wheel (Totally confused me). Wiper switch on right side. Tilt steering wheel is without up and down adjustment. Had to use seat adjuster to overcome that. Consumption as per their estimation to be 8-9kmpl in city and 12kmpl outstation! Diesel version will do much better, as per UK reviews! Ground clearance is 167mm as per specification and managed to take the car which was parked on the pavement to the road without kissing below. Therefore this might be ok. Orders taken these days are going to ship on end of December. Diesel car would not available for a test drive even in December. Prices are starting from 4.4M for petrol and 4.8M for diesel inclusive of all taxes.

Ok, might be your car came up with standard 13"steel rims and his car offered with 14" alloys. But again wall height & rim size is the factor determining total diameter of the wheel. Just an idea!
