  1. as i remember , it's a japanese regulation, which can be seen in JDM Cars , not in europeaN cars i guess . . . .
  2. Yes, correct facts and wrong application i guess. 1 - wide tyres in off roaredrs reduce pressure on surface so it doesn't sink easily, (you may notice that driving in sand needed less air pressure , just to wider the tyre ). And yes it increases the limiting frictional force.(that ú depends on surface nature) 2 - when driving , the friction acts along the way car drives , ex-forward when you drive forward. So yes, engine produces the power and force for it,in case the friction higher, yes the fuel consumption drops. (you can experience this when using a wider tyre , it always reduce the fuel efficiency) 3-yes , limiting friction is the one which holds the car down to road, not the static(dynamic) friction.
  3. cost would be anywhere between 5 to 10k for service.. Most probable cause is low gas level, which you can confirm by checking the pressure and pumping in necessary refill gas.will cost you around 1-1.5k max. Keep in mind that just servicing the cooling system don't relieve anything apart from the incorrect gas level, servicing is kind of a preventive treatment for the system for future long life. they usually pressurise the cooling system with nitrogen, clean cooler , check for leaks of cooler, remove and service the blower and re gas the system.and lubricate the compressor.and change the cabin air filter. Low cooling can be due to. 1-low gas level in system. 2-faulty compressor, 3-faulty thermal expansion valve . Above 1 and 2 can be rule out by the service and, i don't think that they've proper insurmENTS TO test expansion valve, which is anyway around 2-3k if needed replacement. Don't go for big places, just average place would do the job. Wait somebody share some good joints...
  4. simple, the above equation applies for (F=úR) dynamic friction, which means two surfaces should slip each other to apply that.(ex-a moving carrom disk). What a car need is limiting frictional force, which is the friction which applies when tyre is not skidding, as it roll on road. Yes it's depend on the surface area and grip pattern. That's why we see rough and wide tyres on off road vehicles, the tyre is resistant to skid , but when it starts skidding (by exceeding limiting friction) it makes NO difference with a regular tyre. So high grip tyres on regular roads make it more load on drivetrain which results in poor fuel figures. Narrower the tyre, higher the efficiency and lower the safety. Since some hybrids are so keen on fuel consumption , you can see narrower tyres on prius compared to axio....(can't remember the exact sizes though)
  5. Highly recommend you go to Rexton Car audio nearby arabian motors.near the firebridge.charges are reasonable and quite silent genuine fellow runs the place. (Ruwan or something). If you've some more bucks to bust , yes arabian motors within 50M from the place i mentioned:)/>.
  6. try searching for CARINA E manual , since european version came with that name , or else corona 190. I also tired the same sometime back , but didn't come across a manual. Guess you can buy it from ebay as a used book.
  7. to be precise. It's DKW Motors about 5 km before Dikwella town(area is called hunnadeniya if i'm remember correct) . quite a young guy, about 25y old, will remove the total rack , and dismantle upto nut bolt and washer level, fix it in a day, and fellow has a leth mechines on his garage itself, does the necessary fabrications when needed.dismantle/repair/fixing/oil will be done. Don't forget to replace all relevant horses because , with the overhaul you might see some oil leaks due to increased pressure of the system (i don't believe him on this though). Usually i'm having a terrible luck factor , so i don't believe the second hand part job.and i also had this 192 variant , if you're having any thought of spending 125 k bucks, 125k for rack.? That's way i say toyota lanka is mad ... Dkw motors-0717685190
  8. search recondition part shops, total rack may vary from 15k-25k. Labour charge would be anyway less than 5-4k. Or else i repaired the rack from deep downsouth rack specialist for 8k. With labour and oil and overhaul. Steering is smooth as butter. Thalawathugoda rack man ask 25 k just to repair the rack. You've to remove it in one place and bring it there. (little swollen headed in my openion).
  9. i guess that T5 socket LED's are meant for 12V supply, so they might direct fit , and probably have 4-6 PN junctios in built.so can handle 12V.(in eby), don't know about local available stuff...
  10. know a decent peugeot mechanic, since you already inspected with one, i guess it's not need to repeat again
  11. to be precise , corolla except G/L touring and caldina except CZ-turbo trim levels, others come with rear leaf springs.but caldina is more spacious.
  12. if you analysis the costs, buying a hybrid is not profitable with the initial capital you invest for the car, unless you're a really tree hugger, buttery failures are not so commen ,
  13. +++ As accepted social norm,i won't type it here.will PM Next time, when symptoms noted ...
  14. if OP Is travelling away from city, say remote areas, Guess , it's good he stick with mainstream car, in case of breakdown it would come handy, because most of mechanics in remote areas don't know a thing about euros.and parts should i mention. In case of urban level travels, it's not an issue at all. My 2 cents
  15. didn't want to open up a new thread, can somebody tell where to buy cabin air filter for A toyota(dual type filter) , 88508-20020 upper. 88508-20030 lower. Couldn't find it on Ebay, searched average places, they couldn't find. Went to kotte Road place.(the big place on L side when you go from parliment side).their conclusion was , that there's NO cabin air filter in this model, and then i showed the slot and filter and part manual, :)/> AGENTS are utterly expensive, and some AC Joints adviced to get a used :)/> one from delkanda, don't know why it's so rare, which is used in corona/carina/caldina/corolla wagon. Can somebody direct me ...
  16. he he . . . Wanted to express that it was very significant distance from the road, not that dead 500m, adjective was quite superlative i guess,my bad and pardon . (To be precise i guess it was more than 100m or so.). Was nothing to snake i guess, wasn't driving a ferrari458 on bonneville salt flats. The mechine was old 87, standard Bf series familia 323 with NO , airbags , all 4 drums , no ABS, (had no habit of wearing seat belts).but had enough balls those days. VVTI- friend has AT150,is just a basic car, didn't see any of those bells and whistles.didn't know that there was such high end trim. Thanks for the information, Chootiputa-think this 's a second time i say you've a condition.feel sorry for you,
  17. it's your money, your car, you're the one who drive it,
  18. BULB, HAZARD WARNING SIGNAL- 84999‑10320 BULB(FOR COOLER SWITCH) - 88607‑20060 BULB, HEATER BLOWER SWITCH - 90981‑11014 BULB(FOR REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER SWITCH) - 84999‑10320 BULB, CIGARETTE LIGHTER - 90010‑01015 BULB , WARNING LIGHTS - DASH - 90981‑11018 BULB , WARNING LIGHTS - DASH RED - 83119‑32010, BULB, SPEEDO, RPM - 83109‑24020 amyway, croscheck the sample before the purchase, seems like T5 bulbs, check it anyway
  19. i had the part manual i guess at home , give me manufacture year, trim level(x , g like) .would be able to give you. But by friend. , it'll be useless because most of the shops doesn't know what's part number, so take it to autoshop , get the replacement compatible with wattage, simple
  20. yes, saw them on darly road shop , if i remember correct, it was next to sun lanka Outlet.
  21. had a look sometimes ago , when they released the thing.... According to the salesmen it shares same engine, gearbox mechanicals and electricals with Normal panda.so you pay premium for rear mounted wheel and some cosmetic changes. Pros= brand new car, reasonable if you compare indian junk. Warrenty, hassle free run atleast for 2 years. Cons= horrible after service, expensive maintenances than average maruti, low second hand value, fuel consumption around 10 in colombo. Chinese made.(need i say more) In a single sentence. Don't buy.but on the other hand , there's nothing at the moment to buy for that price tag(brand new). So it all depends on your requirements
  22. sometimes , i might. Please don't put forward your false claims, specially when someone is clueless . . . .
  23. it's related to your tyre size as explained... On 165X70R13(OEM) Your meter is working accurately according to manufacturer's calibration, so 100km in real world is 100km in your odo. With 185X70R14, you're using a tyre with more diameter and it gives underrated values on your speedometer , odometer . So 100km in real world will show low reading in your odometer (will say 90km). I guess that's the reason for your change, you can go for pinpoint calculation with tyre size calculator if you need. Basic Maths. . . . .
  24. was also thinking the same, but make it compulsory isn't practical i guess, because still people can drive under the original owners name, and insurance firms allow insuring, claiming of the vehicle under users name.)not under registered owner). Have a two wheeler under that type insurance for several years, so think this compulsory thing will not work.
  25. Sorry , didn't have a tape to measure, used "ABOUT" To express that it was a significant distance from road.. I noted on last week , that the place is a grassland now, so you can find your meals there and don't forget to measure how many steps it has from road,(there were lot from same species.) Then we would be able to calculate the distance, and please let us know what's the gap between your front and back 2 limbs ,which is needed for calculation.
