Orion engine is shared among lancer models and used across few (two?) generations hence there's a chance it will suit your car's engine and not that I'm 100% sure that your car too has an Orion engine. Simply, if you take the carb off, and show it to those spare parts fellas in watte, they will find a match for you.

Take it to a place where they have Peugeot genuine scanner aka Peugeot plannet. That'll tell everything about a supporting Peugeot from the error code to which wire which circuit is open/short circuited. Will pm some helpful contact in this.

Do you feel as if the rpm is high or actually is it high ? Coz there's a difference in both. If you just feel a loud vibration and sound then I suspect it to be engine mounts and/ or universal joints in prop shaft. If actually the rpm is high even in a higher gear, then that has to be only through a slipping clutch.

Did you try seaarching in BMC watte in panchikawatte? Carb from old lancer models which had Orion engine should go with this.

Fellow 406 owner, a friend bought a complete set of air vents and the meter surrounding for less than 5k from eBay, give it a try and I'll search through contacts to see whether this is available to buy locally. What's the CD player your car has? Original one with steerinng controls? Try first with a good quality cleaning CD. Pet#o La#ka might me able to sort this out as I heard.

Using thinner means, take a bottle of thinner and run the tubes (feed and return) from that bottle. Do not mix thinner or anything with fuel in the tank. You should first disconnect the tubing between tank and your electric pump. However this cleaning should be done if you're sure that the pump is affected as a last attempt to revive it. May be you can get a test pump to determine whether the issue is with the pump or the carb. Take the tube goes out of the pump and disconnect it from the carb end and switch on ignition. Pump will start pumping petrol out of the tank. Collect about half a bottle and let it settle. You should be able to see a water layer forming if petrol is of bad quality.

Carburetors can be affected as some bikes too were among the victims. Fuel pump in old cars driven mechanically and rock solid than the electric ones. Thats why the belief was such that old cars will survive. Two things, get a sample out of the tank and check whether it's contaminated. If so, get the carb cleaned and serviced plus the fuel pump. They say if you operate the troubled pump with 95 or good 90 petrol or thinner for sometime, chances are there the pump will come back to life. Give it a shot if you suspect the pump.

You need to find out and be aware if rough rpm and speed of each gear change if your vehicle, not to be exact but rough approximations. In any auto if you press little hard and getting to a speed and if you release the pedal lightly, the box will upshift. wise versa if you kick down.Further It won't engage to the next if you're not close to the next gear change limit, say in terms of rpm and speed. If you do this in close range of gear change, box will immediately shift to next gear. But this won't happen the same way for overdrive. Thought this method is popular among auto drivers. However, this won't work ( rather hasnt worked with me so far) in auto adaptive gearboxes with engine braking as itll engage engine braking the moment you let go of the throttle to expedite the gear change.

Point to ponder : I know of lot of people including few friends whom were initially considering FB 14 went for Peugeot 406 D9 by considering the simillarinitial cost better safety and simillar fuel economy. Personally I believe FB 14 too is overpriced considering it's age and options.

Just a quick question, are you new to automatics? Cos there's a way of getting higher mpg from an automatic car by letting the box to change gears faster. Plus, check the air cleaner as well.

So the entire roof will be re painted with removal and re-fitting of the windscreen plus the tinker job? Even a normal garage would charge you similar price and a pro in windscreen fitting would charge about 5k for fitting charges.

Wasn't hard to sell at all provided that I sold after using it for more than three years and it was with a/c, p/s 5 fwd box with 4g15 engine. Not to mention the alloys, original interior and solid body. All went for 3.25/- up to you to gauge the price based on that.
