  1. Would love believe their strategy and culture has changed. Highly unlikely from what I hear. Proceed with a caution
  2. Just to revive this topic. Any positive encounters of chrome plating plastics ?
  3. It's available in Executive model. What exactly do you want to know?
  4. Glad it sorted. Tried this on CE-90 (XADO Revitalizant EX 120 Automatic Transmissions Tiptronic, Steptronic, CVT) from ebay and lasted about 6 months before giving up the reverse gear. Overhaul with oil costed me only 32K and it came with 1 year warranty. On a side note, clutch plates inside the auto tranny are suppose to be dry and no oil goes in there isn't it?
  5. There are copies for Peugeot spare parts as well. That has become an issue as of recently. Copies are also expensive. I used to bring down parts from ebay for my 407. As of labor and maintenance, I never went for agents. But for accident repairs agent was better (as long as your insurance pays off the bill )
  6. I tend to think on simillar lines of Osanda. Radio goes off and power steering getting hard (motor doesn't get power?) and vehicle stops occassionaly (ignion coil / fuel sender doesn't get power) sounds more of an electrical fault. Start from battery terminals to loosen ground wire (simple ones first) and then the fuse and relay panel to begin with
  7. since you're so interested about it and the agent is bringing down the very same model, why don't you call their general line ( 112448112 ) and post the response here.?
  8. Followed the entire thread in one go and what aquaman says is possible and being done for older cars which could sustain that beating, for an example older Peugeots (504, 505, 404), Benz( w115, 123) and bigger luxury Japanese sedans and suvs. Rarely I've seen volvos and opels. But a BMW? Never ! It's very tricky to stuck a different engine into newer cars. Even simple things such as increasing engine rpm with ac compressor engaging are done by engine ecu. How about the final drive ratios ? Will they match and will speedo be accurate ? Will the tacho meter work and show accurate reading? There will be so many complications and finding some parts (if those are fabricated) will be really difficult
  9. brand new in the sense imported as brand new back then. 307 cannot be bought brand new in SL anymore. Why I said price is high coz there are fully loaded brand new imports around the same price or lower. Go check a few more before finalize.
  10. if it's manual one headache won't be there, the troublesome AL4 auto gearbox. I personally advise to go for a brand new import when it comes to Peugeots especially a car like 307 which is very sensitive towards climate conditions and often found over heating in our driving conditions. Mind you 150k in the odo is in miles if it's a UK import. so multiply by 1.6 and get the kilometers it had done. However, high mileage on most Euros isn't a problem as long as it was maintained properly. What are the options it has? climate control and full option or rear manual with semi option features ? price heavily depends up on its condition, maintenance and options. By judging it's doesn't have alloys as a factory fitted option, I tend to assume that it's a semi option car. if so price is little towards high side.
  11. one of my colleagues has one. Every time I get in that car, some interior part is broken. Interior plastics are so brittle and now he's running without the front left door cards, not to mention so many other plastic components broken off. Apart from that it's fine if you don't mind it's being manual. Mechanically it's a Corolla 121 I heard, so spares would be freely available.
  12. what's the coolant you use? is it water or coolant with some color? if it's water, check for noticeable dropping of coolant level. If it drops, then your heater matrix migh've developed a leak p.s. if it's coolant, check for similarities in the color of coolant and liquid which leaks into cabin area
  13. it in fact has bulbs acting as back lights
  14. are these your calculations or figures displayed on the onboard computer?
  15. there's a give and take or pros and cons between 2.0l and 1.8l engines. Even in 1.8l engine, there are 3 variants. The most reliable one out of three is the L6A engine which was there in most of early brand new imports through agents. 1.8l isn't really economical as it makes the car under powered. Later the 2.0l engine appeared (EW10) and not as solid as L6A but has more power (obviously) and smooth operation lower noise levels due to hydraulic assisted valve buckets. all in all, you can go for a 2.0l executive with manual gears and all bells and whistles. Search the forum for more comprehensive answers about various peugeot 406 trim levels. There's a post 2002 406 with com2000 module and often referred in the car market as 'com' model. This comes with auto wipers and auto lights along with a 2.0l engine. I'm sure you'll be better off with one than an executive with all unnecessary features and of course imported from UK in contrary to brandnew imports. good luck with your search
  16. indeed and always ask for a bill, you throw it away after that is a different matter and don't move away without settling everything. I don't, no matter how hard the vehicle behind honk the horn.
  17. what's the brand and type of the horns? after market horns AKA golubella ones? if that's the case it malfunctions when the heat level goes up. Try fitting it under the bumper where engine heat doesn't affect
  18. two thumbs up for whoever said that. It's one heck of a rigid ride
  19. I get all my interior work done from this guy. Trustworthy, flexible and uses quality products. Give him a call and check. Hudson - 723363410
  20. not 406 coupes in Sri Lanka
  21. the only one in the country
  22. I missed the Rapier. Yest, it's a better equipped GLX and was only made for UK market. It's got chrome rings around gauges, all teak panels in GLX have been replaced with a black shade and better fabric interior in black color. no V6 406s here, not even a coupe for that matter. Don't know whether any rare beast exists just like the only 504 Coupe. There are V6 407s and 607s though.
  23. There's no L but LX, the lowest grade. GTX and Rapier need to be added to the list. LX is Basic trim level with front power shutters and central locking and fabric interior. GLX has full options with all 4 power shutters, rain sensing wipers, teak trim on dash and door panels. ST is the sports trim and often confusing and I haven't seen much difference from GLX. Most V6 406s belonging to this trim level. GTX is a GLX with electric fabric seats and executive is the fully loaded version with electric heated leather seats with memory, automatic headlamp washes, sun roof, puddle lights, retractable side mirrors etc
  24. If there's an a/c pressure switch which monitors the pressure and temperature of a/c refrigerant, get it checked
  25. no need to be a modern one. Even my 1987 townace has it. Probably you can source a one came for a Toyoace or something which is 24v
