Peugeot 406 Lcd Screen

mini3

Question

Recently I gave my 406 to a garage due a clutch plate trouble and got it back after 7 days time. Then I noticed that my LCD screen has a big patch on the middle of it.When I inquired it from the mechnic he said it may be due to the heat and did not seem accept it as his fault.

I just want to know whether it a common 406 problem. It was in good shape since the time I bought it.or is it a act of a dishonest mechanic?

Seek your valuable advice.

This is called "bleeding". I think the mech was right. It could be from direct exposure to UV for too long. If its from UV it could be temporary, the patch might fade away with time. Read this thread: http://www.austech.info/showthread.php/49029-Why-do-LCD-displays-get-old-amp-bleed-%28not-talking-LCD-TVs%29 It’s not directly related to 406 MFD but you may find some useful information.

Please be cautious when you order this from eBay to get the exact part number.

I got the same issue in my 406. Ordered the part from eBay UK, got the part in good nick but couldn't get the radio to function with the new unit despite my specialist spending a few hours playing with it.

If you are lucky, the part I got might match your car. I'll give it in exchange for a test drive of your car, and a plain tea.

Deal?

Sometimes certain parts need to be coded in for it to work. For this you need to plug it in to a diagnostic system with the functionality, like the ones at a dealership

Yes that's what the specialist was trying to do. But somehow his diagnostic system couldn't fix it. Or maybe the hardware itself wasn't compatible enough.

Sometimes the non dealer diagnostic systems struggle with some tasks. We also can't discount a fault with the part or the rest of the system.

You should always match part numbers though, not just the part.

Ya I think this is where I made the mistake.

There are different types of radios in 406 (one with the in-dash CD loader, one with boot CD loader etc). The display should be compatible with the exact type of radio I guess. This is where the exact part number comes into play.
