  2. Thanks. Is it a big repair needing the attention of the agent. Or a machanic could do it? I examined exhaust at high rev (4000), no sign of burning oil. Exhaust is quite moist even with some water droplets. By the way, see the figure below. This is the only sign of burning oil I noticed....
  3. Thanks. I"ll take the vehicle to Stafford and give an update.
  4. This vehicle was heavily used, as I mentioned non-stop long trip -80 km The machanic at the service station also said that this is a common problem in Honda and replacement of piston rings would solve the problem.

  6. Thanks TT. I could not see any sign of burning oil. The exhaust is very clear, but I noticed a 2 mm wide black stain around the tip of the exhaust pipe (see below). However, I wiped it out to monitor. Surely, engine oil is not leaking out from Is it because 0w-20 is too thin? I am thinking of shifting from 0w-20 to 30 next time and see what happens!!!!
  7. Experts We got a GP1 (2012), 83000km clocked - I noticed a drastic drop of engine oil level, I need to top up engine oil once to twice during the service interval. What is the problem? I wanted to do a tuneup and replacement of plugs done from the Stafford assuming the problem would be solved. Since there are no service reservations available till 22nd Feb, I was compelled to take the vehicle to one of their dealer in Kurunegala. Before visiting the place today, I got a confirmation on the availability of spark plugs with them, but after cleaning injectors and throttle body, they said that spark plugs are not available (typical irresponsible feed back from SL response) . We cleaned all 8 plugs and put them back. Anyways, it allowed me to take a pic of the present status of the spark plugs (see below). One of the mechanic was saying that deposits on the plug could be due to sludge formation and this can be solved by cleaning the piston areas and changing piston rings. He was saying oil level drop is resulted by the sludge formation. I am not much sure about what he says?. We bought this car unregistered in 2013 (15000km clocked) and serviced timely. It is a daily long distance runner (160 km). Hard to believe a sludge formation. For first services in during first one and half years we had to use 10w-30 oil since 0W-20 was not available. Then we reverted to 0w-20, could this be a reason?. Do you think shifting to 10W-30 would solve the problem?
  8. Harsha, Thanks for the advice, I'll try to apply some silicone to the gasket see the result. again, thanks for your time regards
  9. Hey Harsha, It's not a rubber beading. It is a kind of flexible materia (a sheet) placed inbetween the body and the back side of the tail light assembly. I tried to find it in couple of shops around kandy, no success. I'll upload a photo soon. regards vitz
  10. I have been using a vios car for 2 years, no major repairs till. No suspension issues. If you carefully drive this car, surely you can get 16-17km/l for long distance, I have done that in average.
  11. Dear All, I noticed a water accumulation under the carpet of the legspace of the rear seat. I couldnot track the cause for months and finally found its occuring through the tail light assembly. I found the weak gasket (located between the taillight assembly and the vehicle body) is the cause for that. Guys, are those gaskets are available in the market (my car is a Vios) or seems it is possible to make such a gasket by ourselves if the sponge like gasket material is available. Can somebody shed some light how to fix this problem. Guys....such waterleak can really be left unnotices. it would be good idea to check your cars for such water leaks. regards vitz
  12. Guys,,,, I am impressed with all of your contributions. Inititally I thought to ask somebody to start the vehicle time to time. Beacuse that is what i have heard right thing to do. now i can change my mind!!!!!!. Many thanks for enlighting me with perfect advices. vitz
  13. Guys, I need to go abroad for 2 months leaving my car unattended. How do I prepare the car and it is necessary to start the vehicle once in a while. your advices are higly appreciated. vitz
  14. virensti... How we can diangonse mulfunctions in the VVT-i system????
  15. Thanks Mazd!!!! Seems to me that guy needs to sell the body-kits from his shop. Mazd...if you waited bit, we could have got his telephone number also.....
  16. Thanks Dilesh, I figured out the problem. The guy who serviced my car has wrongly fixed the protective cover of this connector which stops the movements of the connector aginst engine vibration. So, after proper placement of this cover, the problem solved. regards
  17. Gihan, I am pretty sure about the gas leak. Beacuse, 3 monts ago i came across all the symptoms of lack of gas in the sytsme: 1. kind a noise (shhhhhhhhhh) form the ac outlet just after switching on the ac, 2. strange noise from the compressor unit. So, i met the AC guy and refilled with gas. But, the guy told me that there may be a gas leak. So, after three months I am facing the same problem again. So,,,, there is a minor gas leak. They did not pay much attention to oil leaks in the tubing system under the bonet. but, concluded i have to put a new evaporator since repairing the faculty on can lead to another round of dismantalling whole dash board again. Thanks for your advice, its better to check the leaks from the tubing system before get into this evaporator thing. Guys I have an advice for you as well. Since, i bought this car 6 monts ago, i think the problem was there when i bought it. The sale people have sold this car with or without knowing this problem. So, when you buy a car, pls pay your attention to this kinda things as well.
  18. Gihan, Can you tell me how they check gas leaks using nitrogen gas. I am also facing some problems with AC system of my VIOS. the AC repairing guy told me that there is a gas leak in the system and need to replace the cooling unit (inside the dash board cover). Replacing the cooling unit is a quite a task since the entire dash board has to be removed. It is a mear guess by these guys, so i cant trust their diagnosis. Will this nitrogen test be helpful to pinpoint the gas leak. Do you know some body in Kandy does this test.
  19. Guys, from couple of days I felt a slight fuel smell from my vios, didnt pay much attention to that. But, yesterday it was quit strong. After opening the bonet, i found a quite significant dripping of petrol at the link between the hose from the engine and the metal tube comming from the tank. Guys, i dont know the technical term for this link (its just a clip, we can take apart the two tubes by pressing two side ends of the clip) Anyhow, i was able to get rid of the significant leak after pushing the rubber tubing bit forward. But, still i am getting some petrol around this link, especially after a drive. Is this normal or is there something wrong with the clip that joins those tubing together. your advices are highly appreciated
  20. To tell you NPP, i am also getting the same problem in my vios. Its just comming once in a while, from rear wheel right side. During my last service, we checked the shocks, nothing wrong with them.
  21. Guys,, This post is related to the first post of this thread. Yesterday I got a fully machanical check up of my car (toyota lanka, kurunegala). We opened the tappet cover also. There is a brownish stain in side also, but the technical manager told me it is not sludge. he also told me that I dont need to worry and he didnt see any use of cleaning the whole engine. Also, they often see these kind of cases. He also showed me some photos of really sludge formed engine. Guys, toyota lanka recommends 10000 km oil change intervals for semi-synthetic oil!!!!!. why is that. Yesterday, i saw even owners of new yaris cars (permit), stick to this recommendation. What is your openion on this..... Thanks for all who responded to this post.
  22. Just an update for this thread: I drove 5000 km already. No problems appeared....no oil lamp blinks...... My brother got a 121 from his office,,,, I saw the same brownish stuff just beneath the oil cap. It has done quite a milage without any problem..... regards vitz
  23. Many thanks for Miniace and zebra for replies.
