    I have no experience with Peugeot at all. Do take this with a pinch of salt. When I go to get my car serviced at the agent who brings down both Mazda and Peugeot, I get the distinct vibe that the service personnel are a bit used to getting complaints about Peugeots.

    All true. But let’s not forget the humongous ‘public’ service. We don’t see them and all these vruthiya samithees clamoring for the politicians to implement reasonable reforms to the outdated public transport systems. On the other hand, just try canceling their permits and see the hue and cry they make. Every single public institution is a dinosaur which sucks money and wastes human resources. But no politician would ever dare try to reform this for fear of losing elections. What I’m saying is it is a two way street. We deserve the rulers we have. ??‍♂️Just my bit to the ranting!

    Everyone’s always on the lookout for “Sahana”. I wonder when the budget reading became equated with Santa’s coming in our country! If at all Santa comes only to the line minister’s house as we witnessed recently. In this case, the minister is clearly looking to simplify the existing vehicle tax system and Encourage greener vehicles, not necessarily looking to dole out handouts to vehicle Importers Association.

    My friend had a xtrail hybrid and started having the gearbox problem. He had around 40k on the clock. He sold it for less than 8 million for a loss of about one million. He was told that repairs would cost around two million.

    It strikes me that for the equivalent amount in the US or the UK you'd be able to afford the top of the range GLE class Benz or Range Rover velar or an Audi Sq7. Ah well...The government needs the moolah, I guess. If it were up to me I'd give the Harrier and the latest BMW X3 some thought.

    Hi folks, I know this'll probably sound meh, but has anybody any experience in modifying a manual defender into automatic? Is there a place one could go without expecting to be ripped off? Thanks.

    People with a gripe against this government don't let logic and facts stand in their way. Hence, the imaginary least price increase for Benz and Beamers.

    Speaking of rats farts and camel on weeds, quite a few ministers were keen to stress that this increase is a temporary measure. It's one way to wreck quite a few peoples' sleep I guess.

    @shack.. I assume your friend wouldn't have a press conference this time around to thank the finance minister or even better, forego the profit if he sells it??

    @Kush.. It may not be a causal agent. More like a coincidence since these two happen to be the in demand "hybride" vehicles, and hence the market has been flooded with them.

    Lots of speculation around... But I think anybody who buys a Mazda in Sri Lanka will be having resale value quite low in his list of priorities. And like Supra says, prices are increasing all around. If the monstrosity that is the 4th generation Prius can pull in close to 8 million or more then You can bet your last cent that there will be more than enough people willing to buy at the new prices.
