Status Update __ After visiting V-T*C about a dozen time, leaving the car there for 3 times, finally the issue is (almost) resolved. The bonnet is now (almost) properly aligned. Still there is a slight misalignment which is only noticeable for a person with mild OCD like me. Dont think they can do it any better, so I am going to learn to live with it. ? Thinking of installing a bonnet lip to ease up the mental trauma. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Fits-16-18-Honda-Civic-Front-Hood-Bonnet-Lip-Molding-Cover-Trim-Bar-Matte-Black-/273424354544 Anyhow, thank you very much for all the valuable feedback and suggestions provided to me in the times of chaos. ? Thank you for the comment brother. I fully agree on this. And I checked the number plate covers, they are still the old ones. Perhaps after your incident, they might have opted not to change plate covers without owners consent. TLDR about V-T*C They are okey for Sri lankan standards, but far from being perfect. I have no idea whether we have a body repair shop in Sri lanka which does perfect repairs. Doubtful even official agents can do it.

Oh! Is this from an old post? Must check their page.

Status Update: Sorry I couldn't provide an update regarding the matter eariler. Was busy with year end mayhem. ? I took the car to VT*C on December 6th and got the bonnet hood aligned properly. But could not get the A/C fixed as their tech guy was not available on that day. Just before leaving the workshop, I noticed a small dent in the bonnet hood. Its almost unnoticeable for the naked eye, but when the light get reflected, it could be seen from some angles. I dont know how it occurred. Could be due to a fault from mechanics when trying to fix the hood. I showed it to the manager and he agreed to fix that as well, but said that they will have to repaint the whole bonnet hood again ?. Since I ave promised the car for a wedding , I could not put it to another paint work on that. Anyways, last Saturday, I took it back to the workshop and asked them to fix it. Will see how it goes. This whole thing has become a nuisance to me. But should appreciate the cooperation of VT*C staff. Though job is imperfect and has faults, the manager and other staff showed genuine interest to sort them out. Hopefully, by tomorrow, I would be able to get the car back. Just before the Christmas!

This has been discussed many times before, please do a search in the forum. Or read this blog which will give you a good insight regarding the car.

I think the rank they get depends on the work experience they had. I had a co worker in my previous organization (an NGO) with a nutrition degree who joined Army as a captain. Should be more or less same for other professions. But as per my knowledge, some professions such as technicians, nurses can only join to other ranks. Medical students (and other graduates) from KDU pass out as Second Lieutenants which they get promoted to Lieutenant soon after graduation ceremony. They get the captain rank only after receiving SLMC registration which usually take 6-12 months upon completion of the internship.

Why does Honda specific forum has more inputs than other makes? Sri Lanka is a country where even a jack fruit can be sold for a million if it has a Toyota badge. But there is a 6k post difference between Honda & next best (Toyota). Is it because Honda gives more trouble? So people are trying to find answers. Is it because many Sri Lankan car enthusiasts own Hondas? Or what? Trying to fulfill my curiosity, as I am not a veteran forum member. ?

Decided to go back to the workshop once more and see what they can do. If not, will go for a DIY project with the help of my father. Lets see. Thanks @trinity for the words. I am going to the workshop again tomorrow with a friend of mine. Hopefully I will be able to get this sorted out tomorrow itself. I kind of have a little bit of OCD, so these minor imperfections are annoying me all the time. Already had several heated arguments with my GF because of this. Hopefully I will be able to get this sorted out tomorrow itself. Will keep you guys updated. Cheers !!!

Which is the best Toyota Raize Model for my requirements?
Klord replied to TDS's topic in General Automotive
The biggest plus point of having a Civic. My odo is now 6.5k within just 4 months (including that one entire month where she was sitting in a garage). Love cruising ? -
// Status Update, ? So I took the car back to VT*C and raised my concerns regarding the bonnet alignment and A/C. Here is a small update. Bonnet: They did some nut loosening & tightening on the hinges and fixed the alignment on the front side. But later when I came home only I realized that, now the gap between the side fender and bonnet in the driver side is larger than the passenger side. Is it possible to align the bonnet properly through a DYI project, or will I mess up the situation more? I am not confident on their service anymore and thinking of taking the car to another body repair shop if required, your suggestions are highly appreciated regarding the matter. A/C: VT*EC manager agreed to check the A/C again but said that he will have to take the car to another place where they do A/C repairs. Since I didn’t have time that day, I said I will come back on another day. Later that day, I took the car to a friendly A/C workshop near my home. He checked the gas pressure and told me that it is lower than the recommended. I asked if he can fix it and he said, he will have to flush the remaining gas out from the system before pumping r1234fy again as some crook Sri Lankan workshops add the r134a instead of the recommended gas. He said it is not good to mix the 2 gasses. If I am to pump the original gas again through another A/C workshop, it will cost some 50k LKR. Or I can trust VT*EC and let them fix it. Wondering what I should do. ?

Guys, only now I realized that I dont have that small registration sticker pasted on the the back of the windshield. I saw somewhere in a forum thread that it is usually located behind the front number plate given by RMV. But I did not check about it back then when I received the plate. Appreciate if anyone can provide answers for below queries. 1) Is it a necessity to have it pasted on the windshield? Can police fine me for not having it? 1) How can I safely remove the number plate holder without breaking it so I can check the back of the number plate? My number plate was installed by Staf**rd using their frame. 2) If the sticker is not available there, how can I obtain one? Thank you.

By the way, I sent the link of this thread to my GF. She was furious at first but then understood the situation. Totally worth it. P.S She is now determined to be a better driver. Playing NFS most wanted these days to improve the space time awareness. Dunno if that will help or not, but lets see how well this goes....

We were partying the day before (Friday) and I was pretty much wasted (hangover). I drove the car up till Kegalle from Colombo and was feeling sleepy. My GF was sleeping till then, so I asked her to take the wheel for some time. Things went well up till Pilimathalawa, but shit happens. Agree. Systems are there to assist the drivers, not to replace. At least for now. Glad I could help. One man's misery may bring blessings to another man.

Thanks for the video brother. @Hyaenidae, yeah bro. Feeling a bit pissed off with myself now. Should have known it before. Unfortunately it did not. I have no idea why, it get activated for all the unnecessary things, but for this it didnt. Maybe its because my GF was trying to overtake the bus. She almost made it and crashed in to the right corner of the bus from the left side of the car. The system might have thought the car was going to make it.

She is still a rookie driver. She lacks space time awareness which is common for most of the womenfolk. Anyhow, I also have the same question in my head, which will never get a proper answer. I have a dash-camera installed in the car, unfortunately, I disconnected it the day before when cleaning the car and forgot to plug it back, or could have checked it to understand what actually happened. P.S Women does not understand how much men treasure their metallic pets. To date, Im still saddened about what happened but I dont see it in her.

If we use E parking break while the car is moving, does that stop (reduce the speed of) the car? As you may or may not know, my GF crashed my car in to a bus a month ago. There was about 1-2 second of window where I knew the car was going to hit but I was helpless as all I could do was scream at her "break, break, break". I used to keep my right hand on handbrake lever all the time when she was driving my fataher's old Toyota. Here in this incident, I realized just before the accident, that handbrake could save us (at least reduce the damage) but I did not do anything as it was E break and it will damage the car's breaking system. Thinking about that, now I realize that I should have engaged on E-break irrespective of whether it will damage the break system or not. Because the repair cost for the crash was effin expensive. Anyhow, what is done is done, I would like to know your thoughts regarding the E-break and how we can utilize it (if possible) to prevent any further unfortunate incidents. P.S Also, I have another query regarding automatic breaking. > Is there a speed threshold to activating automatic breaking? [In my case Honda Collision Mitigating Breaking System (CMBS)]. We were traveling at low speed around 30 Kmph. Previously I thought that CMBS does not activate at low speeds as system may fail to identify if the driver is going to stop or not. But here is what user manual says,

brand new Is there a speed limit in first 1,000km for brand new cars
Klord replied to Dhaham's topic in General Automotive
Agree with @kush. Manufacturers no longer talk about this "break-in period" for modern cars. Its not mentioned in their official websites, forums or user manuals for cars. Common understanding is that, with modern manufacturing technology, break-in is done inside the factory or is not necessary. But people are still worried about proper break-in for their precious cars. Anyhow, just to be in the safe side, I kept mine under 2-3k rpm max for first 1000km. You can easily get to higher speed with smooth acceleration. No need to press pedal to the metal.- 3 replies

Which is the best Toyota Raize Model for my requirements?
Klord replied to TDS's topic in General Automotive
1. I was stupid enough to trust my GFs space time awareness and drove the car over a small concrete puddle. Engine guard got damaged. 2. Dont even think of driving a CivicX on Kandalama lake bunt 3. Had to drive over a small mud puddle at my fathers ancestral house. Now the lessons are learnt. I got adapted afterwards and bumps are automatically detected miles ahead. -

Which is the best Toyota Raize Model for my requirements?

Oh sorry, I might have overlooked it. But isnt Daihatsu also Japanese? Since its a Toyota subsidiary, what makes them inferior to Toyotas? @TDS Suggest considering Vitara as an option if you are really looking for a SUV type of vehicle. I fully understand your situation as you are going to invest your hard earned money for your first car. I went through the same dilemma couple of months back. To be honest, I myself would have considered Vitara if I knew well about it before I got my Civic. They both belong to the same price bracket, but Civic has more power and luxury compared to Vitara. Vitara in the other hand has the much needed ground clearance which is critical for Sri lankan conditions (I have already had 3 incidents where bottom of the car got hit, within 4 months since I bought my car). Fortunately or unfortunately Vitara did not appear in any of the discussions I had regarding my hunt for a car. Just sharing my opinion. -

Why not try a Suzuki Vitara? If you can stretch your budget a bit. Its a well known vehicle for decades and a proper SUV unlike Reize. -
I spoke with VT*EC and they agreed to fix them if there is an issue. Car is at home at the moment, will go home and check and take her back to workshop to rectify imperfections. They informed about the gas issue over the phone. Even though they have put the bill as 4500/=, they have actually used r-1234f. Apparently they have made a mistake initially when doing cost estimation, but did not went on to correct it with insurance as its gonna take a long process. Think they have charged it somewhere else in the bill. (will verify this properly once I meet them). Thank you for all the responses. Bottom-line, drive with care & dont trust women! Lessons learnt the hard way.

Alright guys, I am now tempted to confront VT*C again and see what can be done. Here is their bill, Can someone shed some light regarding the cost breakdown? 5 biggest expenses are for, Front buffer - 100k Head lamp - 115k Shell - 80k Bonnet - 105k Nose cut panel - 110k Is this possible? I feel like thats way too much.

I dunno why, but I find this image very beautiful.
