    Prius hybrid battety

how much does it cost 1.for replacement of all 28 cells 2.replacement of complete battery? including labor cost.
  3. Get a scan done. if possible with original Honda software to get a detailed description of the Errors.
  4. maybe a Car-Salesman නයා stuck in the CVT-belt not able to go back after selling the car with million promises?
  5. CVT gearbox replacement also free for the grey imports to Sri Lanka by private car-sales people? A*W should be know, IF this Xtrail-hybrid is released for the SL market by Nissan.
  6. 32kmpl is nothing. My cousin recorded 100KMPL in his prius. (Nuwara eliya to Colombo?)
  7. is it the same people who sold it? then it would be like හොරාගෙ අම්මගෙන් පේන ඇහීම, they will just say its normal or even that its a "new option" to wake up the driver if he falls asleep?
  8. as AJM said,if this is first time for you to drive a hybrid, maybe you are overcautious. If you know someone who bought the same model recently, maybe you could check if that car has same issue, then it should be normal. But if you have a doubt, better get it checked by an expert/workshop since Honda hybrids are known to give gearbox issues depending on usage. You never now if a freak rented it in Japan used the car to practice wheel spins/drifting in the first 1000km! or more likely, if the Odometer was tampered.
  9. IF you maintain with original quality parts,a Japanese car will cost same as a Euro. original parts last longer, so less visits to the garage to replace the same waterpump done 6 months ago but again paying labor cost(also getting higher). just my 2 cents.
  10. so Honda has found a smart solution to avoid liability for warranty claims at overseas Agents for vehicles not released for certain markets like Sri lanka..Although Nissan and Toyota also take no responsibility, none of them have been so clear like Honda. The car salesmen who imported and sold such grey vehicles(Vezel, Grace,Leaf...) to everyone from Doctors,Lecturers,Lawyers to businessmen with a million promises will be laughing from their backsides now..
  11. so its the battery used for "Initializing" not for "Starting" as the OP mentioned.?
  12. what a joke the hybrid 2nd hand market has become with prospective buyers asking funny questions! The hybrid system is not just a battery and motor, there are also other components like Inverter,AC-DC converter,DC-DC converter. Each one has a specific purpose to ensure that the system works smoothly without reaching boundary conditions. As a very basic example, if a sufficient voltage is not available at a DC/DC converter input, it will try to work extra hard all the time to create the sufficient Hi-voltages . This would result in overheating and premature failure of the electronics parts. So by continuing driving with a bad Hi-voltage battery, you will also accelerated the failure of all other components in the hybrid system. It might make sense to remove all the hybrid components if you plan to use like that, also to get rid of the useless extra weight which will reduce your fuel consumption. But if the car can be used after that is another question.
  13. strange.. The Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) is not cranked by the 12V battery like a typical automobile. Instead, the engine computer uses power from the Hi-voltage battery to spin motor-generators MG1 and/or MG2 to get things moving. So the error code should be for the Hi-voltage batter.
  14. The vehicle should be designed to work considering the power from Hi-voltage battery supplying the 12V system via DCDC converter.(Power steering,AC). And as per safety regulations, every Hybrid has to discharge the Hi-voltages remaining in the hybrid components(DC-link capacitor,Inverter..) after IG-off. Usually the Hi-voltage battery is used for this. If it is fully charged or not available, then it will try to discharge with 12V battery as a load via a dedicated FET-PTC discharge path. So in both cases I think the 12V battery will get unnecessary stress and fail very often.
  15. Before you create new threads, please search the forum. This topic is heavily discussed, even recently.
  16. Both Toyota and Honda hybrids have direct link from the Engine to the gearbox although Honda is a Series and Toyotas are parallel hybrids(unlike newer hybrids like Nissan eNote where engine is used only to charge the battery) So theoretically it should be possible to drive without battery, although you will get many errors and bad fuel consumption. The Diagnostic system may however put the car in to a safety mode like "limp home" or even not allow to start the car at all. So you will need a cheating gadjet like already found in some 2nd hand Aquas, which makes the computer believe that the battery is functioning. @gayanath may be you can help him find one from your side business? ?
  17. Don't. If you really need to buy make not only a proper battery scan, but also a take a look at the battery pack. There are many garages out there who are fixing cheating gadgets to show high battery capacity , when in reality many cells are damaged beyond repair.
  18. is it a turbo? Boost/Manifold pressure Sensor or MAF sensor errors?
  19. Yes, ECU fault is a very broad error and can be thrown also by faults in other conencted components like Sensors,Wiring harness..

    Z100

http://chinaautoweb.com/car-models/zotye-z100/ With a price range of 29,999 -34,999 Yuan, it is currently (as of November 2013) the cheapest car sold in China. (replace "Car" with "Whore" and "China" with "Maradaana" and rethink if you will still consider it ?)
  21. Meanwhile, Sri lankan genius Makabass and First-hand hybrid owners have come up with new "gadgets" and tricks to show unrealistic remaining battery capacities when selling to 2nd hand buyer. Honda civic FD3 "but"with Acqua battery. @gayanath can calculate statistically which one will explode faster ? Aqua Hybrid Battery manipulation circuit on Bus bar, as a result all the remaining good cells damaged beyond repair. 2nd owner found out during disassembly? So if you are Even thinking of buying a second hand hybrid, do not just believe only in the battery capacity scan report to make your decision.
  22. not exactly. What matters is the power of the battery. As technology advances, engineers are able to pack more power in to smaller packages. So being small does not necessarily mean it will be cheaper to replace. Is this particular vehicle offered by SL official agents? The problem with Leaf is not only the price, also the non-availability of batteries even from Japan. FYI as per this Forum thread , there is a USA Lawsuit against Nissan because the battery can loose more than 27% of its capacity EVERY year in a Hot climate(like Sri Lanka). Hope Nissan have learned from the past mistakes.
  23. @gayanathyou are quite welcome to prove that your Acqua with cutting edge technology and super strong body/crumple zones can survive a head-on or side crash against a Colombo-Katharagama Leyland bus in Ranna area. Then we will provide you an additional statistic for your risk analysis.?
  24. Crash test performance is a different topic which has nothing to do with being hybrid or not-hybrid isn't it? I have a strong feeling if the newer cars are as safe as they claim to be. Like emissions tests, crash tests can also be manipulated to perform better by adding reinforcements only in areas which are tested hard. Since automakers are continuously trying to reduce weight and increase profit, they have to reduce metal in some areas. A real world crash is far less precisely planned than a lab crash, as in Sri Lanka we see bigger damages to even new cars after a crash. I remember a top gear episode where they compared body strength by dropping some cars from a height, upside down. Only a SAAB from 90s survived. Passengers in all others would have died from collapsing roof, even in BMW 7series. However having side airbags can save a few bruises in case of a rollover. So I would say they are more comfort options rather than life savers as long as the seatbelts are On.
