As Factory/OEM as it can get. Not a single sticker. Original Clarion Cassette player and a 6-CD Changer in the boot. Has a very old Sony CD with old karaoke songs and Cassette in the glovebox for more 'period correct' feel. A rolling timecapsule from the 2000s.

  1. I wanted to replace the front shock absorbers as they seem to be nearing the end of their life. But then mechanic told me about places that rebuild/recondition them.

Anyone here who has done that? Is it a case of you get what you pay for? Or is it a complete waste of time and money?

I wanted to get mine reconditioned and went to a joint refurbishing shock absorbers. After checking the shock absorber, the mechanic said it's too bad to repair and advised me to replace. The guy seemed very honest and told me that some may offer to rebuild mine but it would not hold on for long.

My friends used to refurbish them....they did not last long. A lot depends on the craftmanship, and the parts used to refurbish. Sadly, the joints my friends tried probably didn't have either one at an acceptable standard. If they are oil shocks, they stand a better chance than gas ones.

If you are doing a complete disassembly and rebuilding it then it really doesn't matter what the condition of the shock absorber is. The fact that most places do not even attempt to build it if it is worn out too much means they do not do a complete rebuild but replace a few seals and replace the fluid. Over here rebuilding shocks are not even considered anymore because rebuilding it to the point where it passes shaken inspection costs more than actually buying new shocks.

Thanks @iRageand @varotonefor the valuable inputs.

@pantheraleoyes i did get them refurbished at Lanka shocks wattala. 1000kms done and so far nothing of note. Another guy claimed to have done 30k with no issues so far. Lets see how they hold up.
