  1. Seriously tired of sri lanka's take on vehicle taxes. A 20-year old Toyota Glanza costs nearly $9,000 here. That is not healthy for the economy, for anyone or anything. Either fix the public transportation system, or fix the vehicle system. Not screw up both together.
  2. Yup, what he mentioned☝ Compare them, and whichever suits your character & likings the best, go for them. The outlander/harriers are now 3-4 years old so most of the depreciation has gone away so it's a worthy purchase. And you can save almost 40-50% of your budget too for other purposes! If you prefer something newer & economical, the eclipse cross is also a good choice & is sportier compared to the above SUVs. There's a review in the 'blog entries' section too. The new Suzuki Vitara is also good and there's a review of that too here! I wonder what happened to the new Nissan crossovers (Qashqai, Kicks, Xtrail)..heard the Q11 qashqai had gearbox issues.
  3. If you are in search of a project car for a low price, why not a BMW E30/E34?
  4. Those graphics! Reminds me when I used to play "the Italian job" on PS1 and would always end up driving the mini into a canal for lols. It would be interesting to use an unreliable british car in a real life getaway though.
  5. You have an axio right? So will this be a second vehicle? What are your priorities? For 15m you can get anything from a sporty BMW i8 to a normal 4x4 Prado...or even 15 classic minis.
  6. When you have to manage a museum and all but cars are life
  7. Slightly off topic, but everyone knows that the Mini was manufactured by several brands (Morris, Austin, Leyland & Rover). Have you guys noticed that everytime one of those british brands stop the production of the mini, the brand dies after a few years. Hope BMW doesn't let go lol.
  8. British unreliability + euro car + no 2nd market + lack of spares + uncommom brand name + big car + condition + engine greater than 1500cc = cheap bargain
  9. Weird that it's missing the interior pillar trim. ? saw a well maintained 75 go for 2.3mil a while back.
  10. I'd like to think it's a scam. Wouldn't the big car manufacturers know of such tricks if they were true? Why spend billions in R&D when you can buy a pill and have better performance than a 5-hour, hand-built engine from the AMG factory in Affalterbach. Also, fcuk soltron. I'm curious as to how they are still in business. I used just 5ml in my yamaha and initially it used to misfire when rev-matching at around 6-7k rpm. Also heard of diesel engines having problems after using soltron stuff.
  11. 'To each their own' they say..I get where he is coming from but I'm guessing now in the garage it's just a 'booruwa'
  12. I guess it's all elementary then sherlock?
  13. Buy something you like for now. Don't overthink/stress it. The cars mentioned above by other members are sellable and hold their value decently. So you can sell and move to something more sophisticated when you are ready. Just don't fall into a trap & end up with a shoebox.
  14. Lol, thanks to this thread, I feel bad for all the people I see on the road driving a DFSK. How quickly people are ready to burn millions of hard earned cash without a simple & free google search.
  15. Good spotting?
  16. Always complaining, just zoom Anyways your guess is correct! Here, have a star✴
  17. Shots of the upcoming GranTurismo for PS5 next year together with Lexus. Anyone care to spot which is real life & which is a videogame?
  18. My dad told me that those post 2000s 'kompressor' cars are the ones that ruined the benz name. As everyone was used to the W124s before hand. Talking about the 320D, from what I gathered they are economical but I remember a common issue is turbo failure & the cooling system components are fragile and deteriorate/break easily if mishandled. Same for suspension as these cars aren't the lightest things on the road and due to age, they'd have deteriorated. Compared to the E36s, these cars are more electronically advanced so you have that to deal with too. What is your priority OP? economy/maintenace or luxury? Because both don't really go together, especially for german vehicles.
  19. @Hyaenidae @fiat fan every stick shift loving enthusiast can now get tapped!
  20. GT/Glanza V is way above budget obviously but a starlet is fun to drive, no denying that as per my own experience. Better than a March I'd say. EP71 Starlet turbos are way under budget provided OP can find one..and that too, in good nick. OP, how's progress so far? Found a car you like?
  21. For average, I think it's acceptable due to weight + automatic + AC + small engine working hard. As its now 10 years old, do a tune up to keep the motor in smooth running condition.
  22. Anyone else know about the green Challenger Hellcat that had toppled a Canter lorry in Kaduwela? R.I.P

Maybe the younger generations are going a bit overboard with this fanboying thing over here? The stuff we see on SM are getting worse day by day. Even the local schools are queuing behind these "well modifayed" buses for annual trips.

Even the village elderly club annual Anuradhapura pilgrimage gets one of these rajina or a patikki with led lghting system.

  23. You are right but I'm already bored with the swift's 1.3L unit. Handling is amazing and I love to chuck it in the corners and hear the tyres squeal and the G-forces pull gradually. But I need some more from the acceleration department. Deserted roads like the kurunegala-puttalam road? If the chance presents itself, try to take the Mawanella-Gampola via Hemmathagama road. It's a damn fine road with straights, hairpins, curves, sharp turns with a smooth surface, almost no traffic, little bus travel and usually no police but be mindful. The whole route is nearly 20 odd kilometers and the Ambuluwewa tower is nearby so incase you haven't been there, go crazy.
  24. My childhood car, ayy..nothing like 0-100 in 2 milenniums during the school run. You must have alot of guts to race with that! Don't tell me you tried drifting that on a touge.
  25. I was just here being bored and then this appears! Tell me more, what car were you racing around those days? Also, damn buggers take the fun out of everything (including your wallet).
