Correct! You hate it? I think it's cool, especially the new ones look so premium. BTW it's a Korean diplomat car, not private owned. Saw it in this side last year. Quite a head turner.

Best Luxury/Performance cars around 4M
AVANTE replied to Douglas Dragonfly's question in Car Buying Information
BMW E36 320i.. Can never go wrong. Fits your criteria well! Reliable, easy to work on, cheap parts, good resale, comfy and a looker. Should do some preventive maintenance (upgrading plastic water pump into a metal propeller one, suspension parts, seals) with a specialist shop like Milroy or Ultimate Motor Works. Or a Toyota Mark X is a good choice too. In fact it's faster than the E36. -
I never knew Hitler made it to Lanka and had his own Benz.

Haha the irony!

You should post your question in the general automotive section. Before that do search the forums using the Google search bar. This is the wrong section.

So it's a car with US/Canada parts, German drivetrain, Austrian assembly and Japanese badge. Talk about a bastard.

Its more like a street rubber kind of vibe. That sucks to hear, destiny might have kept something else in store for you. Yeah bro the racing scene also, everything is capital minded these days. Also the estate thing sounds like a blast man. Was yours a 250? Also with the Yamaha reliability, you'd think they'd give up somewhere less important Yes naming bikes are a thing but I haven't done it yet. A cousin of mine owns a Cbr600 f4i and when asked on this topic he said "it's not a living thing, why should I name it?" So to each his own hehe. Let me know what you call her. Enjoy that VTR bro, would love to ride one someday. Feel free to stick around the forums. I'll let you know when I get info.

Ah that. Well it cost 7.4 million to bring it down through the agents. And the price can change after the restrictions. Awesome car, tons of positive reviews about it. There's only one 1.4L turbo (Sport) in srilanka. If you really want a quick swift, get the old Swift Sport (anywhere from 2.6 - 2.8 mil for a 2006 - 2008 one). Or get the RS and tune it through a professional. Change the turbo, chip the ECU, etc. Lots of things to do but it will be cheaper than bringing down a swift sport.
-
But why though? Aren't they both meant to be mechanically identical. I'm relieved to know that I wasn't the only one who saw that axio dashboard inside the GT86. Still, would like to drive one and enjoy it someday!

We only have one new generation Swift Sport so far in the country brought through the agents for a pretty penny. Or are you talking about the normal Swift RS with manual? Those are rare and the fuel economy would be almost the same as the auto (maybe slightly lower as modern automatics have improved their game now). The 1L turbo K10 engine is rev happy and produces enough power (102hp) with tuning potential. The light weight of around 900kg makes it a quick and lively car. Also, what do you mean by "is this car a budget one"? As for daily family use, it's perfect but for long trips it won't be the most comfortable (but not bad either).

Zoomers are cheap now but hard to find a good one. Almost all the carb bikes are shot due to the bad maintenance habits of most people (over choke, no warm ups, revving at cold starts, stressing the engine). Mine is an efi and really good stuff (Denso injection system). If you could get one, don't miss the chance! Yes the FZ tyres are shot lol. Thinking of putting a Metzeler 150/70R17 in the back but also considering the minute decrease in acceleration. Economy I've never really thought about but I'm guessing anywhere from 40-45kmpl the way I ride. Nice! You did professional motorcross back then? How is it going now?

She's a stunner! The trellis frame and tail are just works of art. On par with the Italian counterpart. Must be a very different animal compared to the Spada and the older VTZ no? If you were near the kurunegala side, I could direct you to great mechs all day long (ex-professional racers, collectors and mechs who have worked abroad) who are actually passionate. I just recalled my close friend's friend had a blue VTR in Colombo which he sold in order to get a Nissan March K12 two-door lol. I'll get in touch with him and let you know. For me, just my FZ V2 and my Honda Zoomer 50. Nothing spine-snapping but truly alot of fun.

'Tis but a guess. A Tundra too? Would be nice to see people straying away from escapades and LCs. Let's see in the following days.

Every vehicle, including most motorbikes have started increasing their asking prices just recently to compensate for those reasons you mentioned. Sad situation really.

I believe the car came here for a right hand drive conversion. Infact those peeps have a load of pickups, and interesting rides like an SRT Demon and a Shelby F150 stuck here in the island as they were meant to go to their respective customers after the conversion.

Hello there fellow biker! Nice ride, almost looks like a Duc monster 400. Drop a pic down here! Yours must be a pre-2009 model as its a carb. In the meantime, I know a guy but issue is he is in Kolonnawa and he is always busy. @Croozer or @kadsa98might have an idea on a good bike mech near you. The thing with carb tune isn't really about finding a great mech, but finding someone who won't rob you. There are people who charge less than10k for a full tune on an MC23 engined bike (all 4 carbs) while there are also those who charge excess of 20k.

Please suggest a good place for a conversion and modification

Body kits don't need the book to be updated. But they do change the width/length slightly (negligeable amount if it's a genuine Evo kit). Changing the engine or increasing the cc you will have to update. Have to take a receipt from the shop you bought the engine and take the book to the RMV, they will update the engine number. But if it's not the same model engine and you are putting a bigger engine with different cc, then you have to get prior approval from the RMV (someone correct me if I'm wrong) and have to take it to the werahera for the weigh-in process. You can legally increase the engine capacity to a maximum of 500cc more than the original capacity. But now the rules might have changed I think, so do check with the RMV. But I hope you don't plan to rice the car. Do keep it original and mint with a few subtle modifications to make it stand out. Lots of CKs already have the Evo kit done on them and most of them look awful due to bad workmanship and taste.
