    We have a newer model of the Harrier and it does not do 15 even if you pushed it, expect 6-7kmpl. Also our one had electrical issues so check for those, rear window would start twerking and make weird noises if we accidently pressed the button and the seats made a loud juddering effect and noise when trying to move front and back. I will say the roar/throaty gurgle of the engine under some 'slight' throttle does make you giggle a bit in comparison any conventional 4 cylinder

    Car started making weird rattling noises when engine was under load, looked like the Spark Plugs had finally given. Mistake on my part because I forgot to change the spark plugs when I bought the car. Live and Learn I guess. Before and After Images

    Toyota Starlet EP82, some might be the 4EF engine (Carb) and the others might be 4EFE (EFI Engine) either way wouldn't harm you, they came in autos as well but I think an auto is like 1.6mn ish not sure. Parts are cheap af and there's plenty of specialist vendors. Definitely safer than an Indian car I presume (at least at this price point I think NCAP gave it 3*s. Since its a simple af car any mechanic should be able to work with it. I think some cars came with dual airbags and ABS so if you're big on safety look out for those. tldr: Better than a Maruti

    Also weird nugget of information The entire front suspension has been replaced with a Glanza parts which was a bit of a rude awakening when I realized the Starlet EP91 lower arm was different to what I took out of my car. I confirmed this with a couple of different Starlet parts dealers who confirmed that the lower arms and stuff were indeed Glanza parts because of the tell-tale Bigger bushings on them. Weird. I get a previous owner swapping a body kit or an engine but its a weird conversion to have when you've just swapped the suspension. Maybe it was a Glanza converted car at one point in its life. Need to check the internals of the engine at one point to see if they are the 4EFTE stuff. Cool bonus though!

    Christmas for my car! (But not for me hahaha close to 50k in repairs) but it feels like an absolute joy to drive now! Replaced a bunch of parts: Lower arms (redid the bushing and bought a new one due to the poor state of condition it was in) Both CV Joints Both Ball Joints Wheel bearings in the front (Rear was replaced a month ago) Dust boots for both front shocks Break pads + Break liners all around changed up PCV Valve because old one was well. old. And then finished up with a alignment check in the end Not going to lie I had trouble sleeping with the car being gone for two days to do all these ^Pic of my mechanics cat if you actually bothered to look through this post \

    Looks like meter karakima has been instilled into car selling culture. Friend sold his car during height of price hikes for a couple of lakhs above the 'usual market price'. Sold the car cash within 48 hours of posting everything transferred. See the same car with half its mileage on sale for a good mil above what my friend sold it for three days or so later. Car was marked as sold in a few days.

    Same, I have a faulty seatbelt light that turns on when I put on my Seatbelt and the first suggestion I got was if its annoying me so much why not just remove it? XD But I agree with iRage, it could be a gazillion and one problems with your speedometer and don't blame your mechanic for the broken ABS.

    Hmm a van on a truck chassis, definitely not the Dodge ram van, the Chevy/GMC one, color suggests that it isnt a UPS van. Ford Econoline?

    Yeah that's definitely something you will face. as to the car prices I checked them up a while ago (during the height of COVID) and they were quite expensive. Maybe it was a slight hiccup. Not going to lie I'd much rather the Starlets/Glanza's in Japan stay there without being turned into donor cars that are used by RICEBOYZ who thinks slapping a Glanza bodykit only makes them oh so much faster. Very rarely do I see an actual Glanza conversion with the 4EFTE to back it up as well.

    Thanks! Also yes I think it's a very simple car hence very little to fix, only problem these days is that the prices on donor cars from Japan are a tad expensive but I'm sure it'll steady itself again

    Loud kata-kata noise coming when I turn the wheel one way, mechanic said its a CV joint gone, apparently I only need one for the side that has gone but doesn't that mean the other side is also on its way out? best to replace both yeah?

      Well I mean its mostly uni so I do not have a dire requirement per se since its mostly online only as well.

      I'm honestly thinking of saving up a bit and getting one a couple of laks under budget. Being a early 2000s Toyota I'm banking on it being reliable (it'll bank me if it doesn't some pun intended hahah)

      Labor costs are dirt cheap thanks to my god-send mechanic Ruwan, I've spent maybe 50+ hours at his place just badgering him with questions while he cracks on with the work so its time well spent as well :)

      (and yes if those previous statements didn't make it obvious salli thiyenawa kello na big rip :( )

    Hmm I have seen a few videos on YouTube as well of Carina GTs in Sri Lanka just absolutely red-lining and hooning in general. I guess they'll eventually come to sale as "Lady Driven, Doctor Owned" cars 😛 Saw some for sale for about 2.2 mil before the price hike but can't seem to find them anymore.

    That is true, you lose a lot of money when buying a car since there will be a lot of stuff in a car to fix. It doesn't make sense to buy one, fix it and then resell right after because the value doesn't budge that much. OP don't do what I did, bought a "small car" (couple of months ago) dumped 1.5 lacks of repair now I'm thinking of getting a longer one cause the rear seats are crazy cramped and useless. Saving grace was I bought the car before the price ratcheted up so I don't lose a crazy amount of cash but its still a waste of time, money and energy. Buy a good car and restore it and keep for a couple of years. Also iRage since you recommended the Mark 2 can you drop some insight on the 1G-FE (Beams engine) in the 110? How much would it cost for that piston ring deteriorate thing to happen? is it a rare occurrence? I'm thinking of getting one meself as well.

    Do you mean Mark 2 GX110 or the GX100? For some reason the GX100s are more expensive than the newer GX110. I had the option of getting a beaut GX110 for 2.4 mil a while ago but I was scared due to its length and BEAMS engine 'issue'. Not going to lie I kind of regret it. Camry's have shot up in prices in about 1 mil. Camry's I checked out for 2.2 mil are not asking 2.8-3.1 mil.
