  1. @osanda19.... man I owe you many beers ! After cleaning the MAF with CRC CO Contact Cleaner, my rattle can sound in the engine disappeared. A big improvement in acceleration under load. I have been having this headache for couple of years and never thought it was the MAF. I almost changed the fuel pump and injectors because it was clear the engine was starving for fuel under load. This thread saved me money. I hope mods can stick this thread right up where it belongs :-) and help others with similar engine rattles. So so happy now :-)
  2. Sorry to bring up the old thread. But do we need to clean the temperature probe as well ?
  3. I plan to use electrical contact cleaner. But appreciate if you could get the name of the cleaner your mechanic used. My vehicle is a Hyundai Tucson.
  4. @ osanda19, so after replacing the MAF, so far no issue ? for how long ? I am facing a similar issue and want to try to clean the MAF first.
  5. What was the mileage on the injectors before you cleaned them ? Is this the first time they were ever cleaned ?

  7. Hi MrCat, No experience with the brand. But they have a Radiator Stop Leak (made in Germany) that has good reviews. My aluminium core has a pin size hole (cant even see it) in the water line, leaking coolant. I want to try this out first before attempting to spot weld it
  8. Any idea who sells this brand ?
  9. The core could be replaced using existing plastic tanks ?
  10. Can a leak on the water line be repaired ? Weld ? glue ? Just checking with you guys before I take it to a repair shop and they try to take the expensive route (full replacement). Thanks!
  11. What type of corrosion protector is this ? looks neat with the black coat.

  13. Sorry to hear about this theft.... happening for the second time. But how can you remove the entire mirror with the arm ? The thief would need access to inside the car
  14. Restorations are always nice to see from start to finish. Good luck with yours !
  15. Thank you Strikeee and Devinda_Z for your suggestions. I should have mentioned I'm looking to spend around 30k per tyre (need all four). Looking at my tyre size, I don't think the Michelins and other Euro/Jap brands will fit my budget.
  16. Hi there... Please help me chose the brand from your experience. My main concern is tread wear with reasonable dry/wet performance. I have three options for 235/50/18. This is for a mid size SUV. 1. Falken Ziex ZE912 (Japan) at 28k per tyre - No experience. 2. Kumho Ecsta SPT (Korea) at 28k per tyre - Current tyres. Just above 40k mileage. A bit harsh (could be due to low profile). 3. Nankang AS-1 (Taiwan) at 24k per tyre - No experience. I wanted to get a quote from Maxxis, but the Karagampitiya distributor thinks too big of himself. Thanks in advance.

  18. Please PM me the details of the home-workshop. Thanks !
  19. The Don, When I was there, Saman was rewiring an entire Hiace. The front end of it had been replaced due to an accident. So maybe you could check him out.
  20. Sorry to open an old thread. Crosswind, so where did you finally end up getting the paint work done ?
  21. Money not wasted as such. Keep using it. But get the other ones rectifier replaced or repaired (don't spend too much). So you have another alternator just in case. Or sell it after the repair on hurry.lk
  22. I repaired my original one at Saman's workshop. Located on Hospital Road, Dehiwela (just before Buddhagosha School - coming from Galle Road).
  23. I agree with Davy here. I had a problem with my alternator. Due to the urgency, I bought a used one from Delkanda. It ran for a month and stopped charging. Luckily I had repaired my original one and it was a quick swap at the garage. Now I need to get the other inspected and if it is a cheap repair, will get it done as a backup
  24. I've got a 2005 Tucson (petrol) for the last 6 years. No major issues. Only the suspension is taking a beating cos its on 18" rims with low profile tyres
  25. Can you please give details of what was done for a "tune-up".
