  1. Apparently It's a very simple system. Watch 1:25
  2. <blockquote class='ipsBlockquote'data-author="eyepea" data-cid="282931" data-time="1442459340"><p> when using cctv, has anyone considered remote recording ? Is this easy to implement?<br /> I heard of a hardware shop that had cctv. Burger had located and taken the DVR. </p></blockquote> Yes and it's possible at a cost of considerably large data package esp with newer higher TVL cameras. Better solution would be a NVR with a wireless backup disk but again hiding it from the culprits will be a real challenge. However locating a DVR is easy with all the wires leading to it but You could easily disguise a NVR as a TV setup box or something.
  3. sorry, DP.
  4. Ready, long time already
  5. It's not the rack end but steering rack it self is the culprit. A*W will tell you to change the whole damn thing and they actually did it for me. It was about 48k about 4 years back and lasted only about 3 months and noisy again.
  6. It's not a comfy car anyway but this may be too much. Specially the vibration, as you mentioned is worrying me. Better get it chechcked by someone competent. When I changed all 4 in my wife's car about 4 years back, ride was significantly better than before. May I ask the cost of 4 shocks? Ours need all 4 too since long time ago. Also when you were buying dId you gave the vendor samples of did they managed with just make model and chassis number?
  7. You could use a NVR (Network video recorder) instead of DVR with IP cameras thus eliminating all the wires from DVR to cameras. Still you need to power up the cameras which can be done locally. Also there's the option to use wires too. If you have seen the amount of wires going in to the DVR, you'd choose wireless system without even blinking. About the power consumption, I have a 8ch system (DVR) and my UPS (smallest in the market) powering the system i.e. DVR & 8 cameras for about 45 mins so not much.
  8. I'd recommend CCTV camera system plus hi wattage floodlight/s with motion sensor. I don't think any thief would take a risk with that kind of arrangement. Not a thief but I'm sure they do a comprehensive risk assessment prior action. You could add few dummy cameras to your system for additional cover. Some of the dummy cameras are fitted with flashing LED with a motion sensor and they stat flashing only someone is around and that is pretty scary from a thiefs point of view giving anyone the feeling of someone is watching. Little expensive than a normal dummy with a continues flashing light but reduces the battery changing. Check eBay. Saw few on that 'quick' site too but they are not fitted with any lights/sensors. Very dummy! You won't need any of this if you can get a dog or two. Good luck!
  9. Other cars as of other similar make/model or just other other types of cars? If not similar make/model, you can't really compare rpm vs speed can you?
  10. 1 Mr. Samaraweera got a nice lake front villa and he'd love this idea.
  11. Correct me if I'm wrong, there are only two electricity suppliers in SL i.e CEB & LECO. Assuming you are talking about solar net metering providers, yes there are many of them. Their technology and pricing also seems to be similar. The inverter which I have in my house is Israeli made 'SOLAREDGE' brand. I can't compare inverters as I have no experience with other brands and can't really rate my inverter as well. All I know its doing the job its suppose to do as the vender described when i bought it. If you are looking for a net metering solution I hardly doubt it DIY as need approval from CEB for the installation and the Inverter which must meet their criteria. Also you'll need some skilled installation and Its a hi-voltage DC system so better you get the installation done correctly to the industry standards. As someone mentioned correctly earlier, with a net metering system you'll still have a blackout if the CEB shuts down its supply and it'll also halt your energy production since your inverter need to be shut down within (as I remember) 30 milliseconds or less. If you're looking for a solar panel/s with a regulator/Inverter to charge battery/ies, yes its a DIY. Assuming you use this for few bulbs during power cuts, if that circuit is DC you don't even need a inverter which is much more efficient I guess. My system is up & running since January and its a 2.7 KW system with a 4KW inverter. The reason for higher capacity inverter is to add few more Solar panels in the future. I'm actually considering to add 5 more panels soon. System is design for 300 units per month and so far it has provided average of 340 units per month.
  12. Privet buses are exempted from hi speed as well as many other laws.
  13. Technology in general is called 'In-Situ Machining' and it's widely in use in various industries which can save lot of money and time.'In situ break disc skimming or on-car brake lathe technology' is also the industry standard now. There are mobile services as well for break disc skimming, probably not in SL. I'd rather use this method if every thing else is OK other than break disks. 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it'
  14. Check below article as well. http://m.imgur.com/gallery/j8Bcp
  15. No. There are slight differences. Best thing is to match it to the chassis # because even with a sample in hand it is difficult to see the differences. There are plenty of Swift parts (HT51S) but not many Cruze (HR51S) parts.Few months back I've search up and down in Highlevel road with a sample but could not find the correct one. But the garage owner (NSM Edirisinghe Motors) told me they installed few axels and even as recent as 2 days before I was there and parts came from same area where I searched. Part may be available in Kurunegala or Mawanella (Behind that filling station) too. Good luck and do keep us posted the about the place without delay if you find one. A*W will bring you down the spares within 2-3 months time after full (or part? I can't remember) payment and one side will cost about staggering 72 K and other side 10K more. That is including axel, both inner and outer CV joints and rubber parts.
  16. Ginger, did you check below web sits for details? http://www.mysoftlogic.lk/Electronics_Air_Conditioners-3-2-41-41.html http://www.singersl.com/products/index.asp?PC=air_conditioners http://www.buyabans.com/index.php/Loader/page/cats/1/23/87/176 http://www.wow.lk/mall/c/air-conditioners/ehaAC/ All the info you are looking for is available including price and cost for extra meter of coper tube. Google for further info for particuler model. Note all prices are including installation up to 5 meters. If you use pvc casings, there is a additional labour charge of about 900 per casing length (10 feet). 2" x 4" casing will cost you 1100. If you ask them to supply casing it'll cost you about 3600 per casing including labour. All this info I found out from my reaserch I did about 1 month back. Finally I bought a Mitsubishi 13000 btu unit as there are no 12k by Mitsubishi. Price was 135k. Mitsubishi Is about 30% expensive than all other leading brands. My opinion is they are superior in terms of technology, efficiency and durability. Also much quieter than LG. Also catalogues can be downloaded for each brand and look for late 2013 and 2014 models because that's what still available in SL market. Doesn't have to be this much painful for you to find a good airconditioner. I wanted only 1 and companies were all over me. May be still your haven't contacted the correct person.
  17. R22 is global warming gas + Ozone depleting substance hence currently being phaseout in many developed countries. Not sure about SL but manufacturers are not allowed to use virgin R22 in new pruducts since 2010 as per phaseout schedule.Mitsubishi is using R410a which is environmentally friendly and efficient but expensive. So I guess refrigerent type is one less worry to be bothered when someone buying a new unit.
  18. Drizzling water probably giving you a cold feeling isn't it? May there's a small effect too. Since all the heated air is rising, downstairs is naturally colder than upstairs. If there's a way to remove all the heated air, by means of natural or mechanical ventilation it'll be very effective. I'm sure your architect already thought about that. Discuss with him anyway. I'm thinking of Louvered or turbine roof ventilator.
  19. Do you mean evaporative type air coolers? (Is there any other kind?) Do you think they are effective in humid CMB/Kotte Wx? As far as know they are good only for hot dry areas such as Nuwara Eliya in summer time. They are also known as swamp coolers aren't they? I have a portable air cooler (Electra brand, from airport duty free) which is very effective at our home at up country but make things worst in CMB. If you had any professional technical advice regarding installing air coolers please do share it with us. It's a very good alternative to A/C in terms of power consumption as well as capital cost.
  20. Could you let us know the Kapruka price breakdown? I just want to know the tax amount. Correct me if I'm wrong, if you place the order from their office (Col 3?) you have to pay only a part of the amount rite? Rest on delivery and I think that's a good way to mitigate losses just in case.
  21. I don't think any of the dealers are importing top of the range products due to high cost. You might be able to place a special order but I think what is available will do the job too. Both LG and Mitsubishi are made in Thailand too.Cooling tower systems are for industrial applications and not for homes. Also these systems use chilled water as refriegerent thus need piping for that. Alternative solution is Multi head split system, which is basically one out door unit connected to Multiple indoor units. Better alternative system will be a VRF (variable refrigerant flow) system which is most efficient of all but at a very high cost. Disadvantage of the multiple head system is that it requires individual copper piping. All these systems are economical only if Ginger is planning to run all his units all the time otherwise single head split system will be the best. This is incorrect. Window and split systems are not provided with external air intake method. Actually it's a big disadvantage as if you are using asplit system for longer hours room CO2 level will be high. Even in package type system it's between 10% to 20% fresh air as otherwise power consumption will be very high. However some applications like in operating theaters need 100% fresh air. This is strange, I have all the prices for each model/brand including seasonal discount and credit card offer prices which I got when I purchased my Mitsubishi unit about 2 weeks back. Prices and discounts are valid till end of April and I'm happy to share them with you if interested. Apparently credit card prices are about 10% better than cash discount plus you get to pay in intrest free installments. Hope I don't sound like a salesman. Usually installation is free up to 5 meters of copper tube and additional meter will cost about 2500 lkr.
  22. If you talk to the agents I'm sure they'll happy to answer any questions that you might have and provide all the info you are looking for. Dodgy 3rd party resellers may not know all the info. Remember, you'll get only monkeys for peanuts. PM me if you want a contact at Abans who'll anwser all your questions.
  23. Yes and Abans. But I'm happy with their service so far even though I have to pay a one time visiting charge (1500 for my area). If the technician can rectify the defect he'll do it without any extra fee. In many instance I've seen the problem is blown fuse or wire eaten by rats etc.. If the problem is with any of the PCBs, then they'll take it to their work shop. Sometimes they repair it too for a reasonable fee but I feel they can do much better. I found out this after fiddleing with few PCBs which they returned after swapping them with new ones. i managed to repair them for future use and one of them actually in use now without any problem. Also I must mention here modern PCBs are becoming very delicate and confined, soldering iron can do more harm than good. Problem with 'no visiting charge' guys is that their fee is mostly depend on what they see in your garage and house rather than the actual fault.
  24. Those electronics PCBs are very expensive compared to normal type. As per my experience most of the breakdowns are because of faulty PCBs due to faulty power supply, lightning, rats, squirrels, ants and geckos. As usual agents are very keen to change the whole PCB even if it's a very much repairable.
  25. On your imaginary Presea? You are a hallucinating big time aren't you?
