Hi, There's a real Escort Mexico here and I saw it in the 2006 car show. I think I have a photo of it, I'll post it here if Sampath doesn't mind. I heard that it caught fire and the owner had to rebuild it, but not sure if that's true. About two years back I saw it on the Battarmulla road, rebuilt apparently, rocketing out of sight!

Looks lovely. I'd aim of this look personally! Off topic, but I have seen a beautifully restored pastel blue Sunny B310 with its original wheel caps around Bambalapitiya on a daily basis. I think it has a 12SRI number.

They're called 'forest rally arches' but commonly called bubble arches. If you're going ahead with the Mk1 though, I'd be glad to help you!

I'd say, go with the Escort...I'm VERY biased towards Mk1s though! Is it a two-door 1300? A very tough decision indeed. Let's see what you're up against- A stock Mk1 RS1600 look- OR A Mk1 RS1600 Mexico replica- (My personal favourite. I was hellbent on acquiring a two-door and turning it into a Mexico replica, complete with the "forest arches"! If the wags gets sold<unlikely> this'll be the only project I'd undertake!) and the Datsun 510 four-door- (ewww...what's with that side mirror? Chrome fender mirrors or die!) It looks like it's a tie. How about you guys?

I first saw this clip on Top Gear back in 1998 or 1999. MTV used to broadcast BBC at certain times and Top Gear was at 8.00am on Saturdays...What more could a 10 year old ask for to start his weekend?! Thanks for bringing those memories back!
