  1. Maintenance doesnt necessarily mean just the servicing. Either way your options are above-average when it comes to maintenance cost. Get a corolla 121. Life will be simpler and pleasant for you
  2. Personally I think the short wheel (2 door) and long wheel bass are 2 very different vehicles. And correct me if i'm wrong but the short wheel vehicles are the ones which were most commonly chopped ones. A ot of those mahaweli/gov ministy short wheel pajeros sold in auctions had their bodies transplanted (or the chasis number "used" illegally). So I would be extra careful on that!
  3. Please do a search. The lancer EX has been extensively discussed. Bracket's thread would be the most comprehensive.
  4. By the sound of it the father's passed away, and this maybe the son's way of remembering him by. Just because you're a restoration fan and he's not, it doesn't make his priorities less important than yours. So instead of belittling him why don't you befriend him. and call him every few months to say hi, and see if he's made any plans about the car. If at any point he feels that your intentions are noble he might change his mind.
  5. I don't mean to sound like a wet blanket, but from the stories that I've been hearing about giving a car out on rent lease is quite dodgy. If you don't need the car I think you're better off selling it and investing elsewhere.
  6. I agree. A friend's uncle bought it because it was a brand new vehicle for a very good price. 2 Months in the central locking packed up. Light switches stopped working. Alternator needed replacing. It's been an endless list off pains in the ass. I told him even a 7-8 year old trios would have been a better option but nooo, this is brand new! If you buy used vehicles you end up in the garage all the time.
  7. Considering how the last 3 are leagues ahead of the competition it would be real hiken puna if they DON'T win. As for the GTR, well, we've seen what's happened so far. Let's just see how it goes.

  9. So patient, and kindly worded.
  10. Why would you want to know the price it WAS in 2012? Why dont you call the agent and ask them the current price?
  11. Did you do a search? Dude the lancer EX has been discussed VERY extensively. Why dont you use one of those threads instead of opening a new one. In fact your answer might be in Bracket's thread
  12. Honestly, legislation making proper protective gear (besides the helmet) isnt practical. You'll always have the village farmer riding his CT90 in a sarong and flip-flops etc. You can't expect them to wear covered shoes, thick leather pants/jeans and gloves riding through town. What is needed is a much more stringent training process with stricter oversight. IMO motorcycle safety is 90% on rider discipline and 10% machine. An ignorant rider on a Ducatti is more likely it meet with an accident than a disciplined rider on a CT100.
  13. Yes, there are more accidents involving Indian bikes because there are more Indian bikes on the road. Why is it so hard to figure out. geez. Bike's being what they, when you meet with a collision there's very little the bike's design do to save you form harm's way. There's no metal cage to protect you form hitting the asphalt, tree, wall or vehicle. And THIS is more often the cause of the accident than anything els.e IMO, the only way a European or Japanese bike could be superior is that the manufacturers DO give a rat's ass about handling hence their bikes could be pushed a bit further than their Indian/Chinese counterparts.
  14. hoo hoo!! hora-gediya ahu una!!!
  15. It's true when we consider that most us grow older/wiser/richer/smarter with time. But then there's those who rich-kid brats who just turn 18 and race around in shorts and flip-flops. And sri lanka has a fair number of examples that daddy's money can buy the car/bike, but it doesnt buy skill.
  16. hehe, some people are a just a bit too dense to understand probabilities and volumes. PS: But for kicks, if we look at R34 GTRs, 50% of all specimens have crashed
  17. That's also because there are MORE indian bikes on the roads than HC bikes. It's the same way you see fewer dead elephants on the roadside as opposed to the dead dogs.
  18. #1 karma's a bitch #2 If the alcohol rendered you incapable of realizing that the vehicle you're operating is in a hazardous state and not road worthy, that's reason enough to lobby against drunk driving. And you're a prime example: if your senses are aware of a flat Tyre within a few meters when sober, but can't sense it for about a kilometer when under the influence, you SHOULDN'T be under the influence. Anyway, no point going OT on this thread. We all just need to remember that more often than not, DUI accidents arent due to people who think "Ohh shit! I'm piss drunk, but f%$k public safety i'm gonna drive anyway" but rather people who think "It was just 1/2/3 drinks. I'm still fine".
  19. Thanks Reckless. Now that the OP has been directed to an existing thread we can let this thread die a natural death (unless the mods are kind enough to lock it).
  20. Drunk driving is nothing to brag about
  21. Well, I think you should be asking your garuntors that question rather than a bunch of guys on the internet. We're not the ones getting black-listed if things go south. Firstly, ask your garuntors if they are OK with it. That's the decent thing to do. Whatever other risks you take (mentioned by crosswind) are your own.
  22. It is a sad truth. On the topic, I would like to share something I read earlier. It's been through a number of shares/quotes so I don't know the exact source, and I don't agree with some of the numbers which maybe over-inflated, but the wastage is still the same. and my apologies to those unable to read it.
  23. @CNX: The easy way isn't always the right way.
  24. As long as ur not changing fuel type it should be a fairly straight forward deal with a small official fee involved. you fill out a form, go get the car weighed at werahara and wait for the paperwork to be posted to you. They don't scrutinize every part of the car.
  25. Well, based on the timestamp, looks like he tried to park there or was searching for a slot (for 15 mins). And this was the last resort. The asshole who parked like that deserved it.
