  1. Was that the one at the Unity Plaza basement? I remember Nastas (in LP) also used to carry some. My biggest set was this: It was from 1992. Though after the initial build, it was converted into a hummer look-alike. I had to look up the model just now for an image, but in my mind i remember this truck having a looooot more detail. I bought this late last year. It was 'supposed' to be a birthday gift for my GF, but guess who built the thing
  2. Dude why don't you search first before asking a question. I'm sure this must have been discussed before.. http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/15808-how-to-search-on-autolanka/ And you don't have to open a new thread for every question.Keep all your questions in one thread. Else the forum gets very messy.

    E90 320I

A friend who has an e90 has a small issue. There's a slight ticking sound from the alternator. It almost sounds like the litte fan like part inside the casing rubbing against something. Now the catch. It doesnt always make this sound. 1. When idling in Nutreal (with no Aircon) there's no sound. 2. When you switch on the Aircon you get the sound. 3. When you shift to Drive, you get the sound. My guess is that it could be a worn out bearing which causes the armature to pull forward and rub against something. But I'm baffled by the fact that it's triggered by the AC and/or shifting to D, especially since the Aircon and the transmission are not directly related. edit: It's a YOM 2007 E90 320I (if it makes a difference)

    520D Battery

You know this is a simple thing you could have just googled (like I just did). As for the starter motor, it wont be that easily accessible, and if you're not capable of finding it, i doubt you'll be capable of doing any repairs or what-not on it. So goto a qualified repair person for doing whatever you wanna do.
  6. Yep. There's a black one somewhere in Kurunegala. Fuzzo was the first one to bring us this piece of info. Even i was very pretty curious and was bugging him constantly for a photo. There WAS one, shared eventually.
  7. Yes it's osanda's. And in a previous discussion about this, it was mentioned that it was built ona LR chassis. In fact if you take a look, you'll notice that it has a front Diff. the actual humvee doesn't have a diff. and the front bumper (chassis) is also off.
  8. When you see say humvee, do you mean a 1st gen hummer? Or a green military 'loooking' one ? If it's the latter, I got some news for you. That's a land rover edit:
  9. On the topic of cool ebay gadgets, I bought this mini camcorder the other day. The sample videos look pretty good, and they cost like 1/5 the cost of a proper Go-pro. I'll share the video results when I've tried it out.
  10. A general comment, when shipping is this high it always makes sense to ask any friends about who might be interested in it and order about 5-6 items at a go. You'll save a bundle on shipping. Or you could even ask the AL forum if anyone wants to join in. Afterall everyone benefits.
  11. That just sound quite desperate... I'm thinking this guy is just yanking our chain...
  12. GTAm, I think you need to give public access to the photos. right now it requires us to send you individual access requests to you to see the images.
  13. No one in a sound state of mind buys a H2. But if you must, you can refer to this thread and continue the discussion there. http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/1089-hummer-h2-or-the-jeep-commander/
  14. @VVTi: You're like a kid on christmas morning. Is this like the best news you heard all week?
  15. Dear newbie, There is a topic on hybrid news that you can share this on. Please post there, before I rape you. Yes that's right you heard me right. I will rape you. Cos that's what I do to newbies (apparently). http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/10202-hybrid-and-zero-emissions-vehicles-photos-and-news/
  16. ohhh it's the same guy???! Good catch!! HAHAHA!!! <<hiken Puna>>
  17. Hi, Bumping up an old thread to put on record some info. As per her commissioner of the RMV vehicles imported prior 1975 do not need to go through the emissions test. The source: http://youtu.be/25U0qoc2DUE?t=17m25s
  18. I hope the S5 doesnt really look like that...
  19. fcuk me! They spend millions on it, then brag all about automating the system, and in the end, the final authentication document is printed by an underpaid, unappreciated, dissatisfied government servant. Oh joy!
  20. My explanation was more in the line of OEM radiators' functionality where the radiator size matches the vehicle. And yeah I get what you mean, in projects like this you probably DO need to know the parameters for deciding a radiator. But I would think that the rule of thumb would be to match the actual surace area.
  21. Nice!!! We have our very own Man Lab!
  22. so the change in the CR was done by the seller? Not changed by the RMV as a vehicle-modification? Changing the body type isnt illegal. It's just that you have to make a payment and have it changed in the book. And mechanically, I dont think there's anything any simpler than a defender body swap. I reckon it would take a day or 2 at most if you have the body shell in one piece. And structurally it would be as sound as an original, just that the local perception of it being a convertion will still be there. Correct me if I'm wrong, even the newest Defender body can be fitted onto the Landrover110 chassis right? So technically it's legal cos the 'chassis' didnt change. The dodgy ones are cases like prados/landcruiser VX that run on army/police SWB land cruiser II books, intercoolers pajeros running on SWB palath sabha pajero books, bog horns running on old trooper books etc.
  23. yeah, maybe the mods might move this to the thermostat thread.but none the less it's actually a good topic... I'm sure the manufacturer's decide on the radiator size thats ideal for the vehicle/engine/climate combination. But it would be interesting to know the actual metrics they use to determine this. Just to share some of my limited knowledge, in case of most current FWD vehicles where the engine is transverse, the electric fan (presumably controlled by the thermostat) will kick in whenever the natural blowing is insufficient. And it will cut off then stop when it's come down to the ideal heat range. And in cases where the engine is longitudinal, the fan is directly driven by the engine via belt with a sort of a wet-clutch which is temp sensitive. (but that's a different story). So in short the fan will kick in and prevent over-heating, and then it will switch off and keep it from over-cooling.
