  1. Great Post VVTI. If I may add... I have noticed that not many drivers give way. If you are going slow, and if the guy behind you wants to overtake you, please don't block the road, just let that poor chap pass you. After all, you are not on the road to be a ROAD BLOCK! or to RACE or compete. The guy behind you wants to pass you coz he is in an urgency than you. (Now don't try to investigate his urgency!) Just let them pass and be on your way. If they honk you, give way. If they flash headlights give way. For gods sake if you are driving slow try to use the leftmost lane. NO NOs to do: If someone requests way by honking or flashing headlights; - Do not take your car to the middle of the road and start going even slower. (What do you do that for?) - Do not drive in the same lane at the same speed and ignore the request while you have ample space to your left. - If you can give way, don't hand signal the driver behind you to fly. You have no right to do that! Leave your ego home, just co-operate and give way. My request is to be considerate, and let's try to manage the small road-space we have. If we don't co-operate, it would not suffice even if we have 100 lane roads. Good example: Duplication Road - In the mornings you could see cars going in zigzag all over the road just to overtake the slow drivers who are again all over the road.
  2. If the motorists do slow down in the areas which need to be slowed down, (detector or not) whats illegal?
  3. Hats off to Supra. The way I see it you maintain your vehicles well. Even the best rides fail when abused!
  4. The idea of speed ticketing is to slow down the drivers right? so how come a radar detector is illegal? if the police can use radars without pre-warning we have the right to capture the signal. Isn't it?
  5. Many Happy Returns Devinda!
  6. From what I've heard that the old Montero sport offer a rough ride like a double cab. The Unimo site says the new Montero Sport is a 7 seater. Does this mean that its no longer lending the chassis from the doublecab? If the Montero Sport is actually a 7 seater then where does it come in the lineup? Can we compare it with 5 seater crossovers? And do you think it is worth considering a BN Mahendra Scorpio for this permit? The new one has acceptable looks. But I've never driven one. And from what I've heard it does well on fuel economy, though the seats seem to be not that comfortable. Do you suggest it to be a more practical for a weekend offroader which can serve as a daily ride as well? I just miss the good old Pajeros, Land Cruisers and Bighorns. Why don't they build tough off-roaders which can also offer great performance on road and be used as daily rides by the weekend off-roader anymore? All these new SUVs are too sweet for rough terrain.
  7. And you are posting in the wrong section
  8. Seems its becoming a fashion then
  9. Hats off to all of you who restore these jewels. Please share your progress with us.
  10. Nissan following Toyota's footsteps...?
  11. Lancer is a good car but like LashNeo said in SL market Sunny is given a premium value, hence higher second hand value. On the other hand if you get a good deal on a Lancer which is in good state, its good to go for it. Which in the latter case 'you buy for less and sell for less'.
  12. Please be mindful as the radiator flush removes rust it may further weaken the already weak cooling system walls (if there is a lot of rust) which may result coolant leaks. I recon you don't flush the radiator if you intend to travel a long journey within the next week or so. (Just to avoid the hassle of being stuck by the road). Even after flushing the cooling system please check your 'check engine' and temperature indicator at least every 10 km or so. If the temperature is rising that means you might have a problem which needs immediate attention.

    Help Needed

Dear friends, Thanks for reading my post. I'm doing an MBA, and I need to submit a Research thesis to complete it. And I'm collecting some data for the same. It would be a great favor if you could fill the attached questionnaire and email it to: [email protected] Thanks in advance.
  16. I've been on the search for one but never came across a good reconditioned one. Guess I'll have to order brand new after all..
  17. Sorry Velocity, but I choose her because she is known to everyone and most sri lankans still drool over the name. For me if I'm to compare between the two, I think R35 is way better especially because what's packing under the hood (here I go again... comparing a car to a human being... )
  18. This is more like Ayeshvarya Rai coming to colombo, even though you have seen her so many times on tv, magazines and web, you still wanna see her...
  19. Congrats Darin. We would be most thankful if you could post some pics. pleeeease
  20. When it comes to number plate mess one old Sri Lankan proverb comes to my mind; Modayage Goo Hath Polee.... LOL!
  21. Its better to find a place which do a quality job even for a slightly higher price. Most of the garages in SL just go after the money and try to finish the job quickly sending quality down the drain. (One of my friends found the badges reverted upside down after a paint job!!! Ignorance!) When it comes to interior trim, the repairman needs to be really patient as most of the panels are made up of plastic. Better find a good professional, or DIY would be the best approach.

  24. WOW! Great job in restoring and documenting it in photographs. Awesome! Thanks for sharing!
  25. The problem with a heavy car having a small engine is that it won't accelerate as much as you want to, when you want it to. Which makes you floor the accelerator pedal which in turn wasts fuel and still wont be able to move as much as you want it to. For me that is torture. (I once drew a 1.3ltr Sunny, and it was horrible. You literally have to push it to overtake a long vehicle like a bus.) I have no experience with Platz though. Would like to test drive one though.
