  5. This is called 'Legitimate Expectation' as the buyer had 'expectations' of getting something for something --> in this case --he was expecting to get the 'whole deal' -i.e. the car -- if initially an advance is paid and then to pay bal later. However if this was an illegal transaction -- i.e. importing a 'bud' vehicle -- the Law doesn't recognise it as 'Legitimate Expectation' & buyer cannot claim from seller. Therefore a verbal or written contract to commit anything unlawful is not recognised by law.

  8. QUOTE (Sylvi @ Aug 9 2010, 04:44 PM) To all members, Mr. ##### is known to me for more than twenty years personally I don't think he will do some ting to spoil his name he started with a finance company in Kollupitiya and he build up his Business at Nawala then he shifted his office in front of Our late President's house Honorable President J.R.Jayardana. Please inform did he took your money or his assistant. His assistant was thrown out suddenly from a reputed Motor Vehicle importer. If you have proof you can go to CID fraud investigation section at Wellawatha next to Canal on the side of Buddha statue and make a complain next thing is also Consumer protection Authority at CWE Head office Building Colombo 00200 Wauxhall street. I don't think Mr. Gihan Ramanayke he was a good pay master will never go down to that level he had a Car agency from China. Wijesinghe. Mr. Wijesinghe - if we are to believe you --then the author has misrepresented facts in a public forum. With all due respects to the author - which can be a possibility. Something which is so unsatisfactory on public forums is - that anyone has an opportunity to tarnish another's name. But - as stated in a Sinhala proverb - we have to carefully listen or analyse any statement made - before believing same. However Mr Wijesinghe - without disrespect to you -- there are people who would resort to such underhand tactics - if they are in dire need of money -- even persons of unblemished character would do so - get over a temporary hurdle. So - we'll wait and see what comes out this -- but whatever happens - its a good lesson to all of us. [That's why a written agreement should be drawn up - before transaction of such nature is made. Also a receipt for ANY payment should be obtained from the seller. Then he cant dispute it in a Court of Law]
  9. A lawyer would have advised you to make a complaint to the Police IMMEDIATELY. Even if you are unable to go to the Police - you can call the relevant Police- in this case - the Cinnamon Garden Police Station & make your complaint. The said telephone call will be treated as the 'First complaint' - and on receiving the same - they HAVE to act on it. Also now you can call 119 to report same. If you had gone to the Police Station - by now - you would have had your money. Having said all the above - thanks for sharing your bad experience-- which is really helpful to other A/L members.

  19. QUOTE (Killer-B @ Aug 1 2010, 07:15 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Machang both the front tires are in the same state...... could this happen in both the tires at the same time? and any way that I could confirm this? I'm sure a good mechanic at a tyre place would confirm this. The only way i know is - when you drive the car very slowly - there is a small wobble. [when it happened to me the first time - i thought there was a slight engine miss - the garage owner got into the vehicle and within a few meters he found the prob] Also it doesn't matter whether there are threads on the tyre or only a low mileage [i.e a new tyre] --- if you do not use the car for long periods - this tends to happen. I think there is an expiry date on tyres - although i haven't bothered to look for it.
  20. QUOTE (Killer-B @ Jul 31 2010, 11:37 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Guys I noticed unusual tire wear in my car recently, the tread wear is normal there is no excessive wear in the tire tread. I took the tire out, and it just couldn't stay straight, it was slanted outwards, here I've added some pics to make myself clear, I cannot really explain it in words Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us as you can see there is no excessive tread wear Looks like I would have to do a wheel alignment, guess its excessive camber on suspension? Any thoughts on this guys? My guess is that the wires ['kambi'] inside the tyre is broken.
  21. bit OT for AL -- but ----- maps of religions
  22. HI, i'm unable to comment on the current availabilities of parts for this car - as we owned a Lancer box sometime ago. But since this model & the box are still popular - i'm sure parts wont be a problem. Also it should have an A/C. FYI - the lancer box we had was a 13 sri & it was a "reconditioned" vehicle. Nowadays you don't get reconditioned vehicles - only 'as-it-is' vehicles. [now the reconditioning - i.e.- painting damaged areas/body work/small or big dents done in hurry to display asap in showrooms ] The 'reconditioned' lancer box- was a 4 forward with fog lamps & new grill & with alloys. However there was a 5 forward lancer - which was 11 sri. This didn't have the alloys or the fog lamps etc.. These vehicle had been brought down as 'brand new'.
  23. What he is asking you is - why cant you ask the previous owner? Tell him to demonstrate how the 5th gear works. AFAIK - this is a 4 forward car. The lancer box - has a 5 speed - but it doesn't have the above combination of gears. It has the normal 1-5 & [extreme right -->down] reverse.
  24. Murali hits back - link I liked this part the best ""I saw some (of his) bowling of his playing days. He would have been hammered every ball had he played in the modern era."" Also :- "He (Bedi) did not have any variation," "He just bowled left-arm spin and the pitch did the variation for him. That is what he bowled."
  25. I too will go with this - because the rear part of the car kept moving at almost the same speed - even on impact. So both are possibilities.
