The software algorithms play hell on SL roads. I have the Toyota full suite (safety sense 2.0). It brakes very hard especially when it detects any vehicle approaching from the side roads at cross junctions. You either has to keep this in mid when approaching cross junctions or switch it off every time you start the car for fear of a rear ending. Other than that it is not that intrusive with only beeps every time you don't keep to the lane or do not keep enough space in front for the motor bikes to creep through (at which point it starts to beep) In the high way car will practically drive it self, keeping the distance with the vehicle flow and the lane. Personally I don't find it that useful or fully trust the system on Colombo traffic and most probably will be an annoyance one the novelty fades away.
  2. Terracotta will be a pain, gets damage even for shoes Dark color homogeneous tile will be the best option, bit expensive though There are special hard wearing flooring material (industrial use)

Some of the safety features like autonomous brakes, lane keeping assist are not offered in SL as they claim that they are not configured to local driving conditions.
  4. Given your criteria you have no other choice apart from Vitz, why do you want justification for your decision when you have more or less made your choice.

Get it through the agents they give 5 year warranty , and a service package i believe, you will need the warranty and the agent servicing as the car is full of electronics which will need regular updates. Rear head room will be a issue for taller passengers if sunroof is specified, A Class saloon, and A class Hatch has little bit more. Car is new to SL and the 1.33 L is not tested in local conditions, 7 speed Dual clutch is a concern if the car will spend most of the time in heavy traffic. C class will be replaced in 2021/22 and will be out dated soon Don't expect high resale as they are selling like Allions/ Premios there will be plenty used around, of cause all will depend on the tax structure at the time.
  6. Let me suggest a Vitz, you will get similar kmpl with less head ache.
  7. Allion 1.8 L has better interior trim look very nice, meter cluster has more information, more power, with dual VVTi has similar economy of the 1.5 L. A friend has one which returns crazy kmpl figures outstation. These 1.8 L are typically used by a different lot than the usual 1.5 L crowed who hack their cars to death. You will be able to find a better cared 1.8L in my view.
  8. Managed to change in to English in my Corolla Sport Used google translate to find settings>language and it had English option
  9. Only European market get the 1.0 L Hondas, Agent brings down 1.5 L and 1.6L both will run on 92
  10. CHR, Corolla Sport, JDM Axio WXB, Honda Grace/FIT/Vezel hybrid /JDM Nissan Qashqai, Mazda 3 brand new (if can stretch to Rs. 5.5)
  11. What is the point, you give the pictures to the police they will ask you whether you know him (personal experience with a footage from a CCTV) In case of CCTV at least it is a deterrent, no body even notice these dash cams. They will be useful in case of an accident.
  12. To be fair by the agent they do not have a competitive product to offer due to the ridiculous tax structure. Parts don't seems to be expensive compared to other agents, you cannot compare outside prices with the agent as they need to be imported through proper channels.
  13. You might be able to do a swap with a decent reduction for your current stock wheels and tires
  14. MG comes with a 1.0L engine which has duty of Rs. 2.0 Mn. any body importing one with a concession permit of Rs. 3.6 Mn. is wasting his/ her permit. You're better off selling the permit for Rs. 2.3-2.5 Mn. and buying the car outright (Saving of at least Rs. 0.3-0.5 Mn.) Sunroof useless in SL context, they leak, increase heat in the cabin, you hardly ever use them Cruise control in other words is useful if you frequent highway (no where else)
  15. My nszt-y66t came without SD (hopefully SD will come with the duplicate key) All audio, phone, car information works but i cannot get in to the settings
  16. Agreed what i meant is they make cars for market requirements and regulations / taxation etc. South Asians prefer bigger engines where as in Europe they prefer smaller more powerful engines for better emissions as they are taxed on CO2, hence smaller Turbos are preferred. Japan is catching up on the trend too which is a good sign. Even the so called JDM are manufactured somewhere or at least majority of the parts.
  17. Not many Jap brands with 1.2 L engines only JDMs i can think of is CHR, Corolla Sport Thailand / Indonesia manufactured Toyota cars are not necessarily bad however lack the trim quality and safety features of their JDM counterparts. Eg. Belta/ Yaris (i believe they were both manufactured in Thailand)
  18. I meddled around head unit of my car nszt-y66t (Toyota) during the weekend It goes to quick setup in the start up does not allow settings requesting for SD card However Audio (Radio, Media in media SD, DVD/CD) works Navigation and TV (Digital) any way will not work in SL Car information too works however did not try changing due to lack of time (takes ages with google translate) Only issue so far is could not access language menu without the SD card to if language could be changed.
  19. There are cards for sale advertised in Ik***, whether they are worth the price i do not know Else you will have to get a card down, your importer may be able to help you Alternatively you will have the change the head unit, i don't think CRV has any vehicle functions in the main unit
  20. Same should work, assume you have the SD card otherwise you might not be able to access settings menu
  21. Even the smaller engine would be 2.0 L which will be taxed Rs. 12.7 Mn, plus a luxury tax at registration. You end up paying over Rs. 10 Mn on taxes alone and the vehicle cost will be over Rs. 15 Mn. There are better options for the permit at that price point.
  22. 1995 on wards it came with 4M40, this model is what is called (computer model) mainly imported by NGOs (UN, Red Cross) and Police. Grossly under powered it will be a pain to drive. And as someone said hacked to death. Rs. 3.5 Mn. is lot of money for a vehicle which is almost 25 years. Get it thoroughly checked with someone who knows this stuff.
  23. My supplier always use NYK they generally keep to schedule Last one 22nd June (Yokohama) to 4th July (Hambanthota) 12days
  24. Best for the permit is 1.2L or 1.5L (hybrid) for which you end up paying Rs. 240K, Rs. 750K
